Throughout my own summer, I shared a friendship that had happened over 2 years ago. Cory and I shared a love of music, art, coffee, film, humor, and sometimes even nature. Though he was older than I was. He was certainly the Elio in our story. We loved that story so much. While visiting my grandparents, he and I couldn't stop talking to each other over the phone because of how far I was and he was far from me. Our texts would last a few hours, but I spent equal time with my family and him. During the middle of our vacation, I found out I had picked up Covid from the plane ride to see my family. So my mother, my uncle, and I went to spend three days in a hotel to prevent my grandparents from getting ill with the virus. We each got a room for ourselves to prevent either of us from getting the other sick a second time. I told Cory, and he and I continued talking all night. He made sure I was never alone in my hotel room. One special night he and I picked out Call Me By Your Name and watched the film. Of course, I cried at the end, and he asked me, " Would you call me by your name?" My heart started to beat fast. Like it was rattling a cage inside my torso, kicking and pushing my chest and my back. And so we did.
A week or so, I told him while wandering around an aquarium with my friends that walking with him was like hearing a choir play music every time he took a step. We called the feeling "Alto," and whenever the two of us couldn't express our feelings verbally or wanted to say more than just "I love you." We said, Alto. Movie nights, college events, milkshake dates, and playing video games together seemed last so long. Still, they felt short compared to the life we desired. We both unofficially (because neither of us had rings and were broke) proposed to each other. I was Mr. Ackerman, and he was Mr. Kruse.
After 5 months of romance and friendship, we felt estranged and grew distant. I searched for where that lost love could have run off to, but after a couple poor decisions and listening to my folks' disapproval of dating a boy. We decided it was best to end our dating. That, unfortunately, ended our friendship too. I couldn't really tell you what's going on with Cory now. All that he has is someone new, and he is living his best. I'm still in college listening to and watching Call Me By Your Name. I feel sad every now and then. Missing the memories we shared, but I receive an odd sense of joy that he's being loved on and quite possibly loved more than I could have loved him by someone new. So Cory, if you are reading this. Alto, thank you for giving me a story. I can be proud to say I lived. Thank you for helping me live and not just survive.
ur making me tear up
Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for sharing.😊
What a beautiful story
grazie per aver condiviso una delle storie d'amore più belle e reali che abbia mai sentito!
I am in fact listening to this from somewhere in northern Italy
may i join you?
ahh I'm jealous!!

I'm breaking the rules and listening to this from southern italy
this is an underrated comment 😭
listening to this from medirional Italy (not braking the rules as bad)

I love how all the pieces are water-themed. It catches the rippling sunlight of northern Italy perfectly!
Beautifully said!
apparently according to the pinned comment, it's from a (movie?) called call me by your name, if that interests you. i haven't seen it but i think i might check it out
wonderful comment
🤍
What a wonderful comment.
the pieces are water-themed because here in northern italy there is so much haze that you can swim while walking in our streets
For anyone curious, this image is from a film called Claire's Knee by Eric Rohmer. A big inspiration for Call Me By Your Name.
any good?
Both movies talk about pedophiles in some way
And so, the picture is taken in Talloires, on the border of Annecy's lake, in France, not Northern Italy :)
@@emptycinema Although Claire's Knee has no sex scenes and is basically a philosophical discourse on some erotic subject.
As soon as I saw the thumbnail I knew it was Rohmer, had to check the comments to make sure hahah
I cant explain how I feel when I listen to songs like this, it just feels like I’m in a different timeline and it’s so dreamy idk
if you haven't watched the movie this playlist is based on i highly suggest you watch it it's called "call me by your name" it's the exact aesthetic :)
@@annalieherrera oh thanks for this recommendation :))
That's the power of impressionist music!
@@sleepy3992 It's a lovestory between a 17 year old boy and an adult man, to save you some time.
same I love it so much!
the way half of the people watching don't even know this is a playlist of call me be your name (btw if you like this playlist you'll love the movie!!)
I THOUGHT OF CALL ME BY YOUR NAME THE SECOND THE FIRST PIECE STARTED PLAYING AAAAA
@@fioistired saaame
the way I just found out with your comment cause I haven't seen the movie
no wayyyy lmao
Yup, the movie is amazing! But don't read what kind of a person Armie Hammer is!
This makes me feel a certain type of way. A way I didn't even know I could feel. If you just stumbled upon this as I did, I want to remind you that you're powerful and I wish you love, success and true inner happiness. You deserve it.
I cant explain this happiness its so- idk
love you, 445
Thank you men, i love you too
thank you
Thank you, I wish you the best in life:)!
Cmbyn brings me nostalgic feelings and a sense of loss that shouldn't belong to me. Everytime I spend more than a second thinking about this masterpiece, literal tears start flowing out of my eyes.
i think honestly the main reason i love this movie so much is because it reminds me of growing up spending summers in southern austria, and how much i can relate myself and my experiences to elio.
YO I AM SO GLAD YOU GOT SOME OF THE MORE UNDERRATED SHIT THAN JUST THE PIECES EVERYONE KNOWS, THIS IS FIRE BRUH
RIGHT!!! Clair De Lune is a great piece but it's on EVERY classical playlist on RUclips for the most part, and if it's not that, it's the Chopin nocturne op 2 no 9.
Italy is such a mood. Like Italy in the late fifties to mid eighties is a dream era to live in. And especially if you're like rich and having a fun time or if you're a writer trying to get inspired. Yes, please make that my life someone.
yes, especially if you are rich.
@@valentinanapoli4437 Or as long as you didn't draw the ire of the Red Brigade and their band of merry fanatics.
its really just a stereotype considering the fact that during the '70 we almost had a civil war, and there were a lot of terrorist attack from both left and right groups. Also during the '80 in the north we had punk, hardcore and rock music not this thing.
read the My Brilliant Friend novels you will melt

So happy I found this playlist!
It brings me lots of childhood memories, I used to go to the music school to play the piano, and these sounds were like exactly what I heard there. Thank you 💚💚💚
this makes me want to re-read call me by your name. The book has so much more emotion to it and shows how over the years they slowly lose each other but remember every single thing that one summer.
@@matchaa2399 ive seen the movie and read the book, i recommend the book, but the movie with the beautiful soundtrack cant be beaten for me. but its no competition, so read the book!
Thank you so much for *making* the commenting. I feel the Romance of Life in little corners of the internet just like this. it is illuminating and is one of the things that make life worth living, like moonshadows and reuniting with old friends. ❤

@@carter98ish Your comment is a Classic Literature I'd like to read again and again. Your soul must be made of stars. So magnificent, so memorable ❤
Can you tell me the name of the movie? I want to take it in! I went to Amazon and saw T-shirts and ketchains... but that was it. If you cluld give me the title it would be much appreciated! Cheers!
You reflect your soul on the feed you receive over RUclips! I feel at peace by coming across this.
Please make more like this! I love love love the music + the visuals. So perfect.

If anyone is wondering where's the main pic from: Le genou de Claire (1970) and it's actually France close to Switzerland ❣ ps the music is truly great
How nice Watson
@@redschonewille :D I watched that movie not so long ago sooo

thanks for the info; the site is not actually so close to Switzerland, as it is definitely on another planet. :)
Lake Annecy indeed
I love many of the photos in this. I can see Elio on his bike riding the paths, the one with the bike outside a shop I can picture him inside shopping... it is so cool!
beautiful playlist!! many people don't create a playlist like this one, good job.
I was on vacation in Trento, Italy last week and this catches the mood perfectly. Driving around those tall mountains and beautiful lakes was astonishing.
This playlist is really good
good job
It gives me such inexplicable joy when a popular film brings masterpieces such as Une Barqur Sur L'Ocean to people's attention

ohmygod yes! It's a beautiful and criminally underappreciated piece
This playlist burns with passionate expression. Subscribed. Oh so subscribed.

Thank you for the playlist
You wake up one lazy afternoon, guided by a hazy mind telling you to go somewhere. With not a worry in mind, you follow where this inner voice leads you. The gentle breeze rides your back as you walk down an alleyway in a foreign, but quaint town. Time passes, and the road ahead of you continues. The town is behind you, wilderness takes over. The trees seem to hide a pretty little secret. Entranced, you pull away the curtain of branches and see a field lays in front of you. The sun hides behind the mountains now, and drowsiness kicks in. You lie down in the grass, yielding your senses to nature. You soon fall asleep with your favorite tune playing in your head.
Magnifique ❤️

Great playlist
I feel like I just saw my life flash by in memories. But what really captivated my heart was the warm and gentle smile displayed despite the chaos and unknown....
I miss my second home. When I listen to these songs I remember the best summers spent in italy. The warmth, the people, the food, friends, family that you only see once a year. The sweetest memories.
Beautiful playlist.
Beautiful playlist,
also the tree in the thumbnail looks like a dragons head :)
I’m going to northern Italy in three weeks and I’m Italian but never been to Italy. I can also speak italian and everything, but it’s my first time going. For some reason I feel nostalgic about going and I’ve never been there. I can’t explain it. This playlist actually captures my feelings perfectly.
it's one of the most beautiful places in the world, imho. you'll be enchanted and mesmerized.
you will love it! I often look for a excuse to go onto that journey :)
It's been three weeks, how are you enjoying Italy? I hope you have fun, and please stay safe!
@@Sunshine-su7jj I left Turin two days ago! Now I’m in Rome. So far the scenery, food, history, even fashion, and also culture have been amazing. I definitely get the hype now. I went to the colosseum, Basilica, and a few other places I don’t remember the name of at the top of my head but it’s been great. I’m going to the Vatican (I’ve always wanted to go) today so that’s another part I can’t wait for. And tomorrow I’m going to Florence! Thanks for asking xx

A lot of the songs are from the soundtrack haha. You should watch the CMBYN anatomy of a scene on the new york times youtube channel, where the director talks about the choices behind the music!
