- I head out into the wilderness with my dog, Monty, to spend a week canoeing, portaging, fishing, eating and viewing wildlife and the beautiful nature. We encounter all sorts of weather and have a blast!

Permethrin Tips
Always follow directions when using permethrin as it is very toxic in its liquid form. It is extremely toxic to cats! Wear rubber gloves and be careful until it fully adheres to your clothing.
The brand I use is Martins. I dilute it at a ratio of 19 parts water to 1 part Martins permethrin. I completely soak all gear in a 5 gallon bucket of this solution for perfect coverage. I do all clothing, then get some on my muckboot foam top part, my tent, and a bandanna for Monty. I have tested it with finding a tick and letting the tick crawl on my treated clothes and the tick died within 10 minutes.

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen! I did mention it would take me a while but I finally got the first part of the extended version of this springs trip up!
I planned on having this live last Sunday, but for those of you that didn't see my pinned comment on last weeks video, I had some PC issues and couldn't finish editing. In fact, I was up until 5 AM this morning trying to get this video to render. I don't often get angry, but I will be honest, I was yelling at my computer when the render of this video failed 5 times in a row over 5 hours in each time. I lowered some quality settings slightly and it finally worked this morning just in time to upload for 10 am. I am hoping to get the next two parts out in the next two Wednesdays!
I know it has been a little slow here with new content but things are going to start picking up here again! I should be getting out this week with da boys, then with Funk and Capt. Teeny Trout! Then after that I got a few big adventures planned! Until then, hope you guys enjoy the extended version of this Springs trip!

My franny and Zooey cats are draped over me, I am on my side, so I can't tell when they watch, as opposed to listening, but they are tuned in, either way. Many thanks, from hot as heck Georgia, I used to take my doggo everywhere with me- he was quite the adventurous soul- and I miss him very much. Your videos remind me of his 'help' fetching water, warning me of feral hog root- tracks, and how he used to enjoy our air mattress, though I always wound up between it and the wall of the tent, to a very happy pupster, sprawled out tummy up, occupying the whole thing. He actually helped me run his zip lines, by pulling them tight- but I only left him on it while I was fishing, because he scared off the fish.
Posa... you always make Sundays better.. especially rainy ones when I can't get outside... settlin in to check this out!
I’ve been watching your videos since around before the Pandemic started last year. I lost my job and was stressed 24/7 about that and the situation at large in general. Your videos always calmed me and helped me smile and laugh whenever I was upset. I recently got food poisoning and was the sickest I’ve ever been in a few years. I watched your videos and they helped me relax and smile.
Thank you so much Mr Posa for making these videos!! Because of you I was able to relax and calm down in hard times and I’ve also made the leap into camping the past year and have been enjoying it so much.

Matt - thank you so much for the peace and joy you bring into my day. After a very long, typically 10 hour day teaching high schoolers the joy of math, I get to unwind with you and Monty paddling on the lakes, fishing, cooking delicious food and sitting by the campfire! I’m also grateful I can do all that without getting bit by all the bugs! Question: Do you ever run into others while our on your adventures? The places you go seem like they are used by many outdoor enthusiasts, but I rarely see signs of others out there in your videos.

Wooohoooo! I must say I got some gear and only tried camping in the backyard so far but you make it look so easy!
He does doesn't he, just a sign of a guy that knows how to have fun in the woods. my friend when it comes to Winter camping it is nothing but work hard work and then you can have fun, if you learn anything from Matt and this channel know that winter camping is a lot of work and to get it done and out of the way then you can have your fun. But summer camping is mostly just fun.

He does! You're being smart. That's how I found out the waterproof tent I had sucked in heavy rain. The adventures are much more fun when you're prepared, or at least feel like you are. One of the best lessons I've learned from Matt, is relax and adapt, cause sometimes things just don't turn out the way you plan... That's the extra fun part of the adventure. Matt's best words of wisdom. Everything is like salt!!!
I took out some new gear this weekend, (underquilt for my hammock) and once there, realized that I never tested it ahead of time. Thought to myself, "well, that was pretty dumb." Fortunately, no issues encountered.
Practice in the back yard first is smart. Let's you go into the house for anything forgotten. Good to make a gear list (or lists, if multi-seasonal) to check that you have all you need. I always lay out everything before packing, broken down into categories. (shelter and sleep components, cooking and food, clothing, and finally, personal effects/emergency gear)

Also from your recommendations, Helinox Hard Top Table, so awesome! Too bulky and heavy for backpacking, but I mostly adventure via motorcycle, snowmobile, and canoe, so it makes the trip and is very handy.
Tried my luck making steak right on the Great Grate over hot coals for the first time, and had the best steak in a long time. (of course, Montreal seasoning was used. and burning fingers trying to flip it was just part of the experience. 🙂👍)
Battery powered LED Christmas lights work perfectly for ambient lighting. Never would have tried this, until I saw you do it!

One time I had a big water bowl out in my back yard for my dogs. After about a week of rain, the frogs were in that bowl having a real sausage party. There were like 5 or 6 pair of them all in one big bowl. The morning after their escapades, I went out to discover rows and rows of toad eggs in the water bowl. I put the eggs into a fish tank I had sitting around. It looked just like your tad poles you found that time I.e, densely populated with tadpoles. When they finally started to become frogs, those little babies were even climbing the glass to get out. For a little while I was catching the little fugitives hopping around my house. It was a fun little project seeing the tadpoles turn into frogs. Oh!!!! I sold my canoe to a good friend cuz it was way too hard for me to transport by myself, and I got a really cool Pelican fishing kayak!!! Pretty soon I’ll be starting my very own RUclips channel!
