@@punkpoetry It's shorter though, so it cannot be programmed as easily as this. Rubinstein would program this as the "main dish" of a recital. Djinns is wonderful as a secondary piece if, for example, offering a long symphony being played by the same orchestra.
OMG. I've been searching for this great work for years. I remembered have listened to it on a radio station a long time ago. Results that I made an error searching it about the work title: It's not a piano concert, but a symphonic variation for piano! That's the big mistake.
Just read an interview with her in a book great contemporary pianists speak about themselves, very interesting book also includes Horowitz Janis Bolet Arrau Perahia many others, well worth reading.
Reminds me of The Djinns, his symphonic poem composed after V.Hugo's own poem one year earlier than this piece.
Sounds of Stow in Stow Mass is playing this in Nov. 2022. I'm on violin. Hope I do it justice. Very soft mellow piece. Even the double FF parts Looking forward to playing it.
I'm trying to learn parts of this piece. It's really hard. It's hard just to read the notes on the page but if you can do it you can hear things that you didn't hear on the recording.

One of the greatest "Piano concerts" in the history of music!!
Les Djinns is an even greater work

I completely agree. An enormous favourite of mine which sounds as fresh as ever.
Just discovered Cesar Franck and he's quickly becoming one of my favourites.
This is a masterpiece of the Franch music of the end of the XIXth Century for piano and orchestra. The construction and the expresssion are awesome.

I love the composition, and the Molto più lento is such a stirring highlight
13:21 reminds me of Alkan's Saltarelle at times and it's so beautiful and wholesome!
I adore this piece.
Doesn't everybody?

Ashton's ballet brought me here. Incredible piece of music.
GRACIAS POR RECORDARME A MI MAESTRO JOSÉ F. VELAZQUEZ. MARCELA VARGAS .
I always adored Alicia de Larrocha's sparing use of the pedal.

Here performed by my teacher
Fabuleux Cesar Franck !
I've gotta get this CD.

A very sensitive version.
This work is unrivaled by any other piano works
It is rivaled only by Beethoven's Emperor Concerto

Wow!
the beginning reminded me of Beethoven
Concerto 4, second movement?
Yes, absolutely. The same for me.
Londoni Filharmonikus Zenekar

I thought it was terrific.

We can't all afford to get rids of adds, and they ruin listening to music like this.
Love this piece but this performance is too slow and rather laboured. Needs a lighter and more lyrical touch.

A laboured and rather lifeless performance.
