I'm surprised with your take on the OST. Because I have always seen FE2 as the gold standard for FE soundtracks. There's a reason Smash Bros has like 3 Giden remixes in it. With Milias Divine Protection, Battle 1, March of the Deliverance and of cause Twilight of the Gods. Whats your opinion on the track's remixes in Echoes?
Some of the tracks were great, Twilight of the Gods for sure. I actually found March to Deliverance kind of grating, but Mila's Divine Protection is A+. I like its Echoes remix but haven't heard any others. I plan to play Echoes sooner rather than later, so hopefully it can redeem this game
@@rpg_haven I haven't played Gaiden so I cannot speak definitively. But from what I know Echoes fixes the hit rate problem but still has the large empty maps with minimal strategic gameplay. I love it's story and characters but the gameplay is defiantly a weak point.
I am super impressed by the portraits in this game, they look super slick and lol checking hltb it does seem large for the era. 33-36 hours is nuts for an 8bit RPG. Also since you like strategy JRPGs I wonder how you will react to the Devil Survivor games. Also welcome back to uploading lol.
I like gaiden. I don't really feel like the hit rates are that big of a problem, but that is probably due to me having more experience with the 1rn hit system and game knowledge. A lot of tiles give bonus avoid (and not just a bit) and the only way to negate this bonus is to use magic. But if you don't promote one of the villagers into a mage you will be stuck with nosferatu, which has a low hit rate, for a while. I like the fact that villagers can promote in different classes, it makes the alm squad quite customisable. It has funny broken stuff like the speed ring. I like the music. I think Gaiden becomes more interesting when compared to other games of the series, you can see mechanics rarely seen in the others and it makes it feel quite different, which is nice when the fe 6 and 7 for example feel so similar (they do have their differences but the base gameplay is basically fe5 lite. )
I can say that 3DS remake is the better version of Fire Emblem 2. Has the quality of life improvements and the music is enhanced in the 3DS to epic proportions. But those who played the Famicom version of this game, deserves a medal if they completed it.
