It's better to stack the same upgrade when it comes to the special attacks as most will upgrade into an improved version on the third or fourth upgrade.
Blitz not getting the halo that upgrades into the spears hurt me
those big guys with helmets is usually what ends up killing me. they have a TON of health so if you get stuck somewhere they will just slowly creep in. even when the whole screen detonates, they survive.
Yeah, that's what usually gets me too. Trapped somewhere I can't dodge them any more and then the giants crush me before I can kill them off.

Pick a few upgrades that you like, and focus on them, a few powers, a few effects, and a few stats, Crit is a must for me, but everything, including the stat upgrades, get additional effects that are extremely useful as they get stronger, for example tranquility orbs end up doing damage, slow enemies, having pushback per orb, and spawns a barrier around you that reduces damage. With 8-12 orbs you start to be able to literally push around both mini and full bosses. Aoe area is important if you have splash damage on death like fire or explosion, as the more enemies that take damage, the more possible death, which each can explode or burn, chaining across the map. Anyway, focus on handfull at first get thier extra effects, GET TREE HUGGER, its upgrade can spawn upgrades. Experiment with various specific builds in mind, oh, aoe effects the thickness and length of the fire trail character. Then after those get all the effects start to pick up other things that you like or think will work well with your build. But keep building what you have toi as they all have something that will continue to upgrade, my best run was about 2 and a half hours long, I was at like 15 crit upgrades doing 940% crit damage at a 135% chance, my dps was getting well over 100M at times.

The halo can be really op when you are low, if you upgrade it it spawns a ton of spears that to a lot of damage

I think in this game, there are quite a few builds you can do. There is the "orbiting build" where you only get upgrades that add something floating around you, the AOE build, the "conjurer" where you get any upgrade that has a chance to summon something, "the pyromancer" and "cryomancer", the "shover" with knockback, the "splinter/chain champ" with upgrades that split and pierce and/or chain, and the "buffer/debuffer" with upgrades that enhance you and/or impair your enemies.
splinter is better then frost bolt it can take out a lot of enemy's at one when upgraded also can make it into a change reaction
When you level up the halo you get spears from space that save you from death

I would love to play the game but it's not for mobile-
Its all about outscaling the Spawns and starting chain reactions. You need to max 1 skill that works on death trigger and you need to max 1 skill that procs on hit. The rest should be spend on getting as many projectiles proccing those hits. That will get you a good run every time.
Also activate the artifact that makes minibosses spawn more. That helps you an incredible amount.
I'm now at the point where every run ends at roughly 70-80 mins with the boss stuck on the rocks which softlocks the game.
Also double speed, you waste time if you dont

Did I tell you guys how much I hate exp upgrades? They do nothing.
I just did a 1 hour run for over 14 million points... i died, there was to much on the screen to see projectiles, and i guess enemy started to spawn where i was (small island artifact), it was fun tho
Enemies aren’t allowed to spawn close to the player. They probably got pushed into you by other enemies.

aww... such a cute score. By now I regularly get runs that end with an average dps of ~30 million. Longest run was over 4 hours (though with the time artifact, so it was really just about 2 hours) and I reached level 112. At the end one AoE effect was the size of half my screen.
