I love the “since I don’t have to do it, I kind of wanted to do it” comment. That is so true of so many things in education. When schools want you to incorporate new ideas they want it immediately and perfectly, but teachers are thinkers and want to have more time to process new ideas before they are onboard.
I really appreciate teachers like you, that teach students about their history so they can improve their future. You're very inspirational keep up the hard work!💓
I really like that you have them discuss without writing and then write on their own at the stations. That is such a great idea. I'm going to definitely try that in my class this year.
Oh my goodness- that baby stretch, .....that baby yawn, .....that baby dimple ands smile lol- im in love lol! So freaking cute!! Ok had up comment about that - guess I should go watch rest of video lololol!!
I so love your vlogs! I admire you as a person and as a teacher at the same time. You inspire me. If ever I get hired in the middle school for this year, I hope to be as great as you are! Kisses to Jenson!
Loved seeing you in action. I like doing stations too, but they are so much work. I ❤️ digestives. I grew up eating them in England. They now actually sell them in Walmart and Publix alot cheaper than World Market.
You were so thorough that I felt as though I was there with you. This was the best "day in the life" that I have ever seen. Thank you for not only sharing but for making us a part of your day! BTW I love the stain analogy!
The Hobnobs were right above the Digestives you chose. I am having tea and Hobnobs while watching this! 😍 Great vlog. Sending happy teacher vibes from a teacher in New Zealand. X
Hi Teacher, I want to say Thank you so much for sharing this video with us and I really appreciate all the hard working. All the caring and organizing the kids always takes times beside your paper works and I know sometimes you feel that you don't take it anymore but that kinda feeling didn't last long until that day you watch those beautiful creatures graduated and trust me you gonna be proud of them for every single word you've taught it to all of them cause I know exactly what's that feeling. Keep going my lady and i sure you gonna feel that sooner than you think.
it's interesting to hear how things work in schools in the US. I live in New Zealand and we try our hardest to steer away from multichoice tests throughout schooling until university/college where they are sometimed, not often, used.
To be fair it really depends where in the US you are. There can be a lot of difference between states or even districts within the state. In my area, multiple choice is common for lower grades but we start moving away from it (especially in a History class) around upper middle school and high school. In University (I majored in History) I don't think I did any multiple choice tests outside of math classes.
I think kids universally enjoy doing stations, no matter the age. My little Firsties like being able to move around and do different activities. I love that it allows them to work together and learn how to compromise to get things done. I am a BIG fan of stations! They are a lot of work, but I feel like you can get a BIG payoff. It's a great time to observe how they are working. I think a lot of upper grade teachers may not realize that kids get taller and older, but many enjoy some of the same things that the younger kids do, they just aren't given the opportunities. The little duck race was so cute! The students looked like they were enjoying their rotations. I love seeing Jenson's cute little face! He's such a doll! Your soup looked wonderful! Love and hugs, sweet lady!
I thing what you could have done is have the history station stuff in a small basket on the desks where you wanted them. Then when class is over ask one English student near the station baskets to set it up or pull it out. that way it is ready and you can get other things going. then tomorrow bring in suckers or cupcakes or have a tech time reward that Friday. Hope that helps for next time.
You really do remind me of my 6th grade history teacher/ homeroom teacher she had her class all colorful and bright with rainbow colors (because that’s her favorite color. She had us pick like one rectangle piece of paper that are different colors and that would separate us into groups. (She was one of my favorite teachers and she like a lot of my projects cause they were very colorful.)
Where did you get the different colored bracelets? They sound like a great idea for collaborative grouping. I love "pay attention with your face". Awesome attention getter. How do you use Lucid Press? I went to the website, and it was somewhat intimidating. I just received my Temporary Certificate to teach elementary school, and I am so excited to start this journey! 😀 God just keeps on blessing! 😀 Even though I want to teach elementary school, I learn so much from you. You inspire me to be the teacher I want to be for my students! 😀
too cool for middle school Thank you for your kind words, and I will definitely need to spend time learning how to use Lucid Press as well. I have not applied for any positions yet (that will come towards the end of the school year), but I am beginning to plan my classroom expectations, procedures, and classroom setup.
I looooove doing stations. Takes a bunch of front hand but love the free time. Do you still have issues with kids switching? I implemented heterogeneous stations. Where each round is a different group. Each kid gets a number with the station order on it and each order is different. ABCDE, ACBDE... also i like the standard on the board with the work. Do you write the lesson on the standard wall?
You are so inspiring! I am teaching history 6-7 this year and math 7-8 in Sacramento county (class sizes get up to 32/34). I know, it's weird, but I'm taking on the challenge. You're organization and planning tips have helped me a lot with timing lessons for middle school content, I'm switching from a high school to middle school position this year and was looking for some more learning environment inspiration and found it on your channel! Keep up the good work, message me if your ever in doubts of having an impact. :) Thanks, Rachelle P.s. I'm planning on using mystery hangouts this spring thanks to your channel! Also, I was wondering if you ever feel like doing a Q & A, if you might explain the process you went to for recording student work and posting social media content for your school site, I would love to share my career in the future and am curious about the process. Thanks!
Hey there! I use 365 Days of Wonder in the classroom too! What kind of timer were you using in your lesson? Do you follow up with your administrator after observations - I bet they loved every second of your lesson!
just curious... at what time do you head home coz you still have spare time to go to the grocery when not going to the gym? Thank you for inspiring me.
Love your videos. I'd love to see more real teaching moments and less planning. A short explanation of what you're doing and more time with execution would help teachers so much.
Jensen is so sweet, especially waking up and licking the magnifying glass. Thanks for sharing your day with us. It was really fun to see you teach and hear your thoughts. Hope your observing went well. It's always the case that your principal always chooses your rowdiest class and your first prep to observe! Haha.
How could you possibly get a less thab stellar review, darling?! You rock in so many ways! Btw, my mom calls me "Bag Lady," I carry so many bags!!! #youreabagladytoo😂😂😂
I think you do a great job as a teacher. Perhaps it was because you needed to stay on camera, but I would suggest more movement around the classroom as you give directions.
in order to get a stain out--dab, don't rub! :3 I'm sorry, that was a horrible joke XD loved being able to watch you do a lesson since i want to be a history teacher myself ^^
Feels a bit "woke" education. "When you will become leaders you can start fighting racism." Kinda means nothing. You need to prove that racism is still a large thing.
What are you talking about? Slavery is in elementary, middle, high school and college curriculum because the United States’ economy and social structure was founded upon it.

I love that you posted a video showing you teaching. I would love to see more of those!
using the stain analogy to explain the impact of slavery and racism in our nation..how genius. Love it
Except that she describes the sweatshirt as perfect and "white" and that the bad stain we need to get rid of is "black" lol
@@SicklyNickable yeah i got her point, but it was a bit on the nose
Nick Gaither if you’re implying that she’s racist, then clearly you are new here.
@@EmileeBreeana19 I didn't get that from his statement at all.
Nick Gaither I literally said the same thing and came here to comment but you already said it! 😑
Jensen looks like such a little man, stretching and yawning and getting ready for his day.

"Pay attention with your face!" I love it every time I hear you say it 😂😂😂

Jensen licking the magnifying glass was so precious
I am 100% going to start telling my kindergarteners to pay attention with their faces! That’s so great 😂
What a great idea for assessment! I hope your observation feedback was encouraging and productive. Jensen is such a cute little man!

I feel like we have quite the same routine. It's nice to see another teacher's viewpoint of their day, thanks for sharing.
This is so awesome to see. I’m glad you’re teaching / discussing racial issues. When I was in middle school, it wasn’t really discussed like this
There is more to black history than slavery. Black people have made huge contributions to this country.
lmaoo your son is literally me every morning. He's too precious. Love your channel. So helpful for aspiring teachers like me
You're probably my #1 inspiration
