Its sad to see that this was the last time Echo and Fives saw each other. Echo got captured, and Fives stayed alive, but not long enough to meet Echo again in the Battle of Anaxes. They had a lot in common; they trained together, graduated as clone cadets, only ones left in Domino Squad, promoted as ARC troopers. Echo was Five's closest buddy.
also, Palpatine made him look like a psychopath to the jedi. He acted like he was about to be assassinated, so to lower Five's trustworthiness towards the jedi.
In hindsight this was one of the most intense arcs to watch for the first time because there were only 4 characters with guaranteed survival. Cody, Anakin, Kenobi, and Tarkin.
exactly i was afraid rex echo or 5s would die and even though 5s and hevy are my favorite clones i was still surprised to see echo die of course when clone wars was canceled two seasons later dave filoni revealed echo survived which made me happy but i was still sad to know he could never see 5s again and 5s died thinking he was going to be able to see echo and the rest of domino
Just look how those reprogrammed Battle Droids are fighting. They actually fight more closer resemblance to clones. They don´t just go and walk slowly firing randomly at the target. NO these 3 actually went to seek cover and trying to provide supporting fire to heroes here. These 3 droids were more superior than their normal programmed former comrades. We honor you Echo and those 3 Blue Stripes.
I think they had the programing of the original OOM droids. Those droids were linked to a command ship, these were linked to R2. The regular B1 droids are not linked to anyone, but this makes them less effective because they don't have advanced programs. The droids during the Battle of Naboo used covers in the palace shootout, they fought like trained security guards. These three probably had the same programs.
Wait- Echo’s “death” theme is actually rather similar to Fives’. This just makes both scenes more powerful to me: Echo and Fives, brothers, best friends, comrades, and their death themes match.

If you look carefully, you can kinda see in slow-mo that Echo gets blasted and sent flying to the left. Of course, all they see is his burnt out and scorching helmet on the ground. But off-screen, he most likely had landed elsewhere but was badly wounded until the Separatists took him.

Those battledroids that were reprogrammed seem advanced. Their reactions and moving with the squad, even to jump out of cover along with a clone (Only to get shot, but eh) makes you wonder how they enhanced them, or was it simply superior programming?

Also that was a clone rule not a rule that the Jedi lived by. In the comics a clone was injured but was abandoned by the Jedi General and so learned to hate the Jedi and wanted to become friends with Vader but then saw his true nature
I have a shot of some TCW episode (the one about Yoda getting ambushed i guess) where Yoda sits on a B1's shoulder exactly like riding him into battle. When my friend saw that picture she was extraordinarily excited, thinking that's some surviving CIS droids fighting alongside droids in the order 66 time. I didn't tell her the truth, so guess I'll have to make some animations about it. (Currently making models now). I think the Confederate perspective deserved much more attention anyway and droids were made a joke by crappy TCW combat.

Ok, we clearly see one of the battle droids get shot down at 0:52. Then, in the next episode, there is still 3 of them and they try to hold off the enemies for as long as possible.

i dont understand why echo just picks a small shield and run up to the ship... first they say "we gotta take the turrets out or they will blow the ship when we try to leave with it" then later echo just rush up with all turrets up... echo is a smart ass clone yet they made him "die" like that...
The first time the episode was streaming on CN and if you look at echo the blast pushed him out of the shuttle and so his legs would’ve gotten blown off and I had a feeling Echo was alive and when he was shown in season 7 I was screaming from happiness
Echo didn't even ask about fives once kinda makes me sad fives was my favorite clone aside from Rex and his death was the most tragic in the whole show along with the rest of domino squad.
Considering that once he wakes up, he still seems to think he's at the Citadel for a bit, he might not even think to ask about Fives. And then later on, well, Echo knows how many clones die in the war.
S7 E2 spoilers!! After rewatching this it makes sense that Echo didn’t die, the explosion blew him forward and there’s a good chance that when he fell his helmet was knocked off and he was probably knocked unconscious. I understand that they couldn’t really stick around and try to find him. In the scene where Tech and Rex take him out of the freezer thing you can see that he lost his legs (which was probably from the blast). So when separatist droids find him half alive it’s a pretty easy decision to take him and do what they did.
This commando droids are beasts. No one is talking about that fact, that one commando droid on the turret did more damage, than a battalion, preventing enemies from fleeing and killing echo.
Play the video at 0.5 speed and you can see Echo's body getting thrown from the explosion of the ship just before the flames come up. He didn't die. But the Techno Union Army took him and used his mind as a counter-intelligence cipher.
@@LucyWest370It was a heat of the moment thing, with everything happening around him he saw it as the best chance they had, as commando droids are smart enough to not waste time on an obvious distraction and instead just blow up the shuttle. Plus, Echo's whole thing was he was very by the book and found it hard to adapt mid-battle, so even though it was a poor decision, it was at least in character.
I can remember how devastated I was to watch this the first time. Then it was hard to watch Waxer and Fives, then Echo came back. I am just happy to see Echo is still somehow alive

If you think about it now it is good that this happened because then the droids wouldn’t have took in him and did what they did, his inhibitor chip wouldn’t of been messed up, he wouldn’t of join the bad batch, And he might’ve committed order 66 and died so all things considered I think it went well for him. Minus the fact he was locked in a computer info tank.
His ARC Trooper armour had a backpack, which could of absorbed the blast damage, hence making him get thrown across the platform but causing him to loose a majority of his limbs.
He was covered in high quality armor, but he did lose his legs. The droids would have had to quickly get to his body and they would have had to quickly decide to take him prisoner, however.
Simple, if you pause at the right second, you'll clearly see that Echo was pushed forward by the explosion, thus it was very likely he could've survived that. There are many IRL cases of people surviving direct explosions too. Also, ScreenCrush already talked about this in a video and they screenshotted the exact scene where Echo survived. It's one of their TCW episode breakdowns they did during S7. Find the breakdown of the episode A Distant Echo. I think that's where they found the scene and paused it. Just in case if you're not able to pause the scene yourself in this clip fast enough. It's a very quick, brief subtle moment haha. Which makes me wonder if Dave has had future plans for Echo since S5 of TCW. Hmm... ;)

@@LucyWest370It was a heat of the moment thing, with everything happening around him he saw it as the best chance they had, as commando droids are smart enough to not waste time on an obvious distraction and instead just blow up the shuttle. Plus, Echo's whole thing was he was very by the book and found it hard to adapt mid-battle, so even though it was a poor decision, it was at least in character.

I can remember how devastated I was to watch this the first time. Then it was hard to watch Waxer and Fives, then Echo came back. I am just happy to see Echo is still somehow alive

If you think about it now it is good that this happened because then the droids wouldn’t have took in him and did what they did, his inhibitor chip wouldn’t of been messed up, he wouldn’t of join the bad batch, And he might’ve committed order 66 and died so all things considered I think it went well for him. Minus the fact he was locked in a computer info tank.

His ARC Trooper armour had a backpack, which could of absorbed the blast damage, hence making him get thrown across the platform but causing him to loose a majority of his limbs.
He was covered in high quality armor, but he did lose his legs. The droids would have had to quickly get to his body and they would have had to quickly decide to take him prisoner, however.
Simple, if you pause at the right second, you'll clearly see that Echo was pushed forward by the explosion, thus it was very likely he could've survived that. There are many IRL cases of people surviving direct explosions too. Also, ScreenCrush already talked about this in a video and they screenshotted the exact scene where Echo survived. It's one of their TCW episode breakdowns they did during S7. Find the breakdown of the episode A Distant Echo. I think that's where they found the scene and paused it. Just in case if you're not able to pause the scene yourself in this clip fast enough. It's a very quick, brief subtle moment haha. Which makes me wonder if Dave has had future plans for Echo since S5 of TCW. Hmm... ;)
