    The song commonly refereed to as "Mandalorian War Song" is called Dha Werda Verda "The Shadow Warriors" in Mando'a. The Taung(The Original Mandalorians) was in a war with the Zhell(Early Humans). Both were natives of Early Coruscant and a war broke out. The Taung defeated the Zhell when a super volcano erupted and plunged the planet into darkness for years. The Taung earned the name "The Shadow Warriors" from this war. A "poem" was made about this feat and is how Dha Werda Verda was made. Of course, this is all legends and removed from canon when Disney bought Lucas Films. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.

    • @KoteDarasuum
      @KoteDarasuum 2 года назад +4

      @@fortieznoshortiez he is still raised by Death Watch members, who were dar'manda.
      If anything, this would make sense with Boba since Jango was the one who introduced mandalorians songs and Resolnare to clones like ARC troopers and commandos (the whole reason why we hear Mando'a songs in RC game) so it wouldnt be a that huge of a stretch to assume he teached this to Boba aswell.

    • @fortieznoshortiez
      @fortieznoshortiez 2 года назад +3

      @@KoteDarasuum Doesn't fit Boba at all. Especially not Vode An. Dha Werda Verda, MAYBE. Boba doesn't identify himself as Mandalorian nor swear allegiance to them in terms of canon. Jango it would fit certainly. Din it would fit the most between himself and Boba.
      Children of the Watch are not Death Watch. He was /rescued/ by Death Watch, then raised in the Fighting Corps, which is a subsect of Children of the Watch. Children of the Watch are a cult of Mandalorians that worship the old ways of Mandalore, not unlike Death Watch, but very different than Death Watch and you can see that in Din's behavior.
      He's not a crude terrorist like most of Death Watch were, he's an honorable Mandalorian and a good man underneath the armor. It's FAR more fitting for Din than it is Boba. I'd even say its far more fitting for Death Watch than it is Boba.
      Boba likely knows the songs and was taught them as a kid perhaps, but it's doubtful he cares much for them given his character. I don't really see any Mandalorian song being very fitting for Boba. Maybe Ka'rta Tor, but only when it's not got it's Republic twist on it. The lyrics imo for many of the songs are everything but fitting for Boba. He is an honorable bounty hunter aiming to make his father proud, however doesn't swear allegiance to Mandalore, nor Mandalorians.
      Also - if anyone is a dar'manda, it's Boba, no matter how Mandalorian he is in the way he carries himself. Even moreso than the Death Watch, who aren't really dar'manda at all in reality. They have questionable tactics in regards to one another but that was highly common among the crusaders and neo crusaders which they worship. As for their terrorism against the Mandalorians, infighting has literally been an issue in Mandalorian culture for centuries, in reality, they were fighting pacifists who are by in large dar'manda themselves for abandoning almost everything that makes them who they are. The Death Watch aren't dar'manda, they're just another side of the spectrum of Mandalorians that wanted a return to the old, true ways.

      @@fortieznoshortiez ehhh about Boba, i got to say he has not completely ditched his Mandalorian heritage. If that was the case he wouldnt have multiple mandalorian symbols on his beskargam.

    LORE NERD TIME WOOOOO (Non-canon, unfortunately. its still awesome though.)
    Dha Werda Verda and Vode An are two ancient Mandalorian war chants that were featured in the soundtrack of Star Wars: Republic Commando. In english, their names translate to "Warriors of the Shadow" and "Brothers All" respectively, though Dha Werda Verda is more commonly referred to in English by "Rage of the Shadow Warriors." Lore-wise, some lyrics were changed by the Cuy'val Dar, the (mostly) Mandalorian trainers hired by Jango Fett to train the Clone Army, to fit the theme of the Grand Army of the Republic, so any lyrics in the originals that referred to Mandalore or Mand'alor were changed to Coruscant and The Jedi.
    Ive talked to death about Vode An in different comments sections, but Dha Werda Verda rarely gets so much of a spotlight. so ill take this chance.
    Rage of the Shadow Warriors might be one of the oldest songs in Mandalorian history, dating back from before the inception of the Mando'ade entirely. On ancient Coruscant, then known as Notron, a war raged between two races, the Zhell and the Taung. During one specific battle, a massive volcanic eruption covered much of the planet in smoke and ash, scattering the Zhell into chaos, but the Taung took it as an advantage, and used the darkness to drive the Zhell off and score a major victory. This is where the Taung became known as the Shadow Warriors, their rage and ferocity being ever immortalized in this song. Eventually the Zhell would recover and drive the Taung completely off the world, where they would eventually be lead to a new planet by Mandalore the First and become the Mandalorians as we know them, while the Zhell became known as "Humanity" and help form the Republic on Coruscant as we know it. Their ancient war would then continue years later when Mandalore the First arrived with his army of Mandalorian Crusaders to take vengeance, and so the centuries of the Mandalore Wars began.
    Dha Werda Verda is a violent song. not only in its content, but by the traditional dance that goes with it. The dancers would form into a line, and beat the rhythm of the song on their chest and those around them. one false step or mistake, and you were likely to find a fist landing in your face, and with its frenetic beat and fast tempo, it was hard to perform. (if you imagine it like a Mandalorian version of Trombone Suicide, you'd have the right idea. at least, by Karen Travis' description of it in the Republic Commando novels. There isnt any official choreography out there for what the dance REALLY looked like, and all the fan made ones ive seen on the internet were...underwhelming to say the least.)

It's a chant, the one form of singing that doesn't actually require anyone to be any good at singing, and because it's typically done by multiple people, this could, say, be something sung by Bo-Katan and her crew as well as Din during their march to, say retake Mandalore?

    For those who don't know, this song is very old going all the way back to the war between the Taung (original natives of Coruscant) and the first Human colonists known as the Zhell. A volcanic eruption blackened the skies of Coruscant so the Taung battled the human invaders but ultimately lost the war. They departed in star ships and later settled on Roon before finding and settling on the planet Mandalore.

    I always considered that little woodwind trill at the beginning of The Mandalorian's theme song to be the real sound of old Mandalore. Ancient and spiritual. The rest of the theme is what the Mandalorians have become, the thumping bass representing the heavy, modern covert of what is left of Mandalore and the harsh, military structure they maintain in exile. And finally the strings and guitar representing Mando himself, Din Djarin the foundling who was raised by the tribe and walks the path of hunter, prey and protector.
