I agree with you saying that detailers should have a standard price to start at , if you go lower your hurting your business and hurting the mobile detailer industry. I have had people step up to me while I working on a car and they ask me how much for a standard wash nothing crazy a typical wash and I tell them the price depending on the size of the cat of course and they look at me like I'm crazy 😂😂😂 , I had one tell me oh I had someone that was doing it for 30$ but he doesn't come around anymore so I told them real quick well he probably went out of business b3cause he was charging 30$ my price is my price for a reason , we have to charge for products , time , gas and your convenience because while your having a beer or wine im washing or detailing your car at home you don't have to go anywhere and wait until it's done your in the comfort of your house
Agreed. I personally have seen the $30 detailer and they usually prioritize speed over quality. Even if they did a great job at $30, they won’t be around soon. The people who do this as a side hustle on their time off or the ones who do 12-20 cars a day at $30 are the ones hurting the market. However, there is a high end market. Takes more work to establish yourself in that market but definitely worth it.
@@samisami5358 yeah I think what alot of people don’t realize is once you have started off your business working at those rates it becomes really hard to ever break out of being known for the guy with the cheap rates and by the time they realize it’s not really a sustainable profitable business model it’s too late. When I was first getting started I didn’t like those guys that worked for pennies on the dollar, now that I have built a strong brand I don’t mind them so much because it helps filter out the cheap customers that are looking for discounts over quality while I concentrate on the higher end luxury market.

Great videos Jeff, would you let me know what provider you use to send out invoices? I currently have Wix to send out invoices but they charge a good percentage!! Thanks
@@Veneno099 I use Wix as well. I only use invoices for my fleet accounts, usually I get paid by any of the payment apps or I have a PAX Credit Card machine that links directly to my Bank of America account.
I'm not very familiar with the market over there in UK so it would be difficult to give you an amount. I would probably take the top 5-10 detailers in your area and find out what they are charging and then average those out to give you a decent starting point. Also you have to factor in what your level of experience is... are you brand new to detailing? Or have detailing for a while? What is the level of the work, customer service you provide? What is your set up like? Do you have a professional set up or are you working out of the trunk of your car? You have to consider and factor in all these things when deciding what to charge your customers.
Also fleet accounts or working for other businesses will usually have you fill out a W9 and they'll 1099 you at the end of the year. Its a tax right off expense for your client usung your service too.
@kirkwilson5900 yeah I wouldn't fill one out either , I'm not an employee or a contractor. I pay my taxes that why unless it's payed in cash you get charged taxes
@KingTheDetailer if you are doing work for another business that's contracting with (using) your services it is standard business procedure to do a w9 as they will file your service costs as a tax write off, then they 1099 you and file as you would declaring your income. Unless you did less than 600 bucks in the tax year for them. I don't w9 my personal clients, but companies who hire me to wash and detail cars for their clients absolutely 1099 me and have my w9 on file. It's no big deal in fact helps filing taxes easier.
@@kirkwilson5900 my understanding of it is if you have an LLC with an EIN number then you shouldn’t have to fill that paperwork out. It would be more for people that are not incorporated already.
@@devinrome1459 I invested alot of time building a strong brand, if you get that dialed in first you won’t have to do outreach, the business comes to you.
Maintenance are key clients more then full details, you can't think making a lot of money in one shot it's about maintaining a steady income not hoping you will get a full details client daily which is reality sometimes it's impossible. Not everyone can or wants a full detail or is willing to pay 400$ for it 1% does. I have 2 facilities in go to weekly I do one week one place hte next week the other and so on and they also asked for insurance and proof of the company's name. If your working in a high end place or business they will ask for those things thats fact 💯 . I also have an FPL site where i go to and they provide water and power for me so I don't even have to turn on my generator.
