My guy, I'm a detailer watching your video during this hurricane with no power. I must say you did one heck of a job explaining these products to a level a person knowing nothing about detailing would be a pro after this video. Great job with this and very elegantly spoken.
Fantastic video. You should be way bigger as channel. Excellent explanations from someone who clearly understands how to use things and why to use what. This is what the detailing youtube community USUALLY fails to do. Earned a subscribe and like from me
Thanks so much! We really appreciate that. It would be nice to have the channel a bit larger with more views, but as you see we are not trendy or pushing products, so RUclips ignores us. People in general gravitate towards staged disaster details or product commercials. Too bad really, but at least the ones who do find our channel are usually interested in the reality of detailing. Thanks for watching and subbing!
@MirandaDetailing 100 percent true. Glad I finally found your channel. These product pushers have been annoying me lmao. Keep up the good work and I am sure it will grow. Regardless you for sure have plenty of happy customers because it's clear you know what you are doing
GREAT video and MANY thanks for breaking down the difference between sealsnts, waxes, polishes, compounds, etc.!!! I have LONG tried to understand/decypher the differences between those products!! Thanks SO MUCH for posting!!
Yes, I remember DAT vs SMAT and the thing about DAT is their peculiarity when they dust a lot because of their short working cycle and they stain trim. Yes, Vonixx owns and produces their carnauba at their plantation located in Ceará, Brazil, and I visited it.
Good video again! Thanks Phil, foaming twice is too much time spent in the sun, pre rinsing does remove loose debris, then foam and contact wash then rinse and protection added as a drying aid, machine polish at the end where necessary..
When I helped my dad detail the family cars back in the 60s and early 70s wax was the only thing I remember, maybe the term warmth or glow came from the type of paint wax was applied to back in the day, products, tools and techniques have certainly come a long way over time, I enjoyed the video, thanks Phil 😁👍
on the subject of lighting and gloss and warm/cold glow i completely agree, of course it’s all subjective. but my favorite lighting situation is those lights over the gas pumps at night! those have always just hit different and tell the honest truth, plus you might get some rando at another pump to say “damn!” 🤘🏽🐿️💨
Great information. Almost like a back to basics. Do what the car needs and what the customer is paying for. I found myself following “rules” put out there by other detailers. I sometimes use 3D one and a couple of drops of 3D ACA 500 on the pad and have awesome results in a 1 step on the bad areas. Thanks for all your effort you put in your videos.
I can’t stand those type of customers. You couldn’t go to their job buy something and tell them to give you something free. This is your business and you feed your family. You have to pay for products and your time on each car.
So many people are clueless or just assume. Basic, thorough communication takes care of the gray areas. Tell them “this is exterior only, no interior work, correct”? Engine bay, door and hatch jambs etc.. discuss it all with the customer prior to the job and there’ll be no surprises when completed.
Opps! I was the one that got staining from a pre-wash. And yes, i had to polish it out! Ouch. You are absolutely right about color/gloss. In the printing industry, you have to have the right lighting to interpret that. Even with the correct lighting, it gets subjective because our eyes see that differently from person to person. In the printing industry, color computers are used "see" color properly. In my experience, gloss on a car may be subjective, but the owners of the cars freak out from the "shine" they see, and thats whats important to me. Very good explanation about the verbiage in detailing. Easy to understand. Hi wife!
@@kimnewling5728 I’ve heard this before from one of my friends son. He does all types of researches. He said the colors we think we’re seeing isn’t actually what it is.
I use a variety of them. In fact the Kirkland yellows are my favorite for paint and ceramic coatings. But if you don’t like those the rag company has some great towels.
Hi. All the coatings we use are single application anyway. All of Gtechniq’s and Gyeon coatings are single application. Some people think you need to put a second application or a topper coating. But found it be redundant and unnecessary. So we love using Crystal Serum light and EXOv5 as our main coatings. One application and awesome durability!
Beautifully explained. Detailing made simply. Question, I have one a those suds lab clay mitt and turtle wax rapid decon iron remover. Can i use the clay mitt to agitate the iron remover or will it damage the clay surface? Thanks
@patb5266 yeah I saw it on the diy channel as well. But he did mention that not all iron removers are created the same and that his is designed to work with his decontamination towel. Guess I'll have to try and see what happens. Mabe give it proper rinse after.
Hi. Thanks for I don’t personally use the iron remover and clay mitt that way because it was wasn’t formulated to work like that. The iron Decon from hybrid solutions has other chemicals in it to work as a wheel cleaner also. I’m sure it could work fine but not sure how long the clay mitt would last. DIY details is different and was designed to work together. But honestly hive it a try and if it works and the clay mitt lasts a long time, then keep using like that. 😎👍🏼
Hi Phil. I was about to polish my truck with turtle wax hybrid solutions ceramic polish & wax all in one; to later ceramic coat it with DIY 5 year. However, going thru some videos, someone pointed out that if you were to apply a liquid ceramic coating like DIYs or GTechnic, to not use a polish that had ceramic protection before applying this type of coatings because it would not bond. Does that make sense? I am not a detailer. It’s just a hobby I am learning. Thank you. Guillermo
Hi. Yea that’s correct, unless the all in one polish is specifically formulated to use with a coating, don’t use it. There are some polishes like Carpro Essence, Gyeon Primer, Dr Beasleys NSP’s, and now DIY APP polish try are used to polish and prep the paint for a coating without having to use a panel wipe.
Great job at explaining all the different issues & verbiage of the job Phil. Q: as a newbie to the realm of detailing, does the protections that have been installed on the paint need to be removed from the body eventually and start fresh or is it just a stacking process. I have a couple of cars that I wash weekly.I may used a “wax” or an Sio-infused product. Does it need to be stripped after a while or once/year? Will a decontamination wash be enough or a fill claying? Thanks for your caring and education to the world of detailing. I appreciate your dedication. Best from 🇨🇦
Hi. Thanks. So waxes and sealants wear away over time anyway. But if you are washing and applying a spray sealant or wax each time you don’t have to worry about stripping anything. If you want to clay bar and polish the paint, you also don’t have to worry about stripping previously applied protection like waxes or sealants. They will be easily removed in the polishing process. And don’t worry about them effecting your pads or anything. It doesn’t. As long as your vehicle is easier to clean, glossy and beading water, you can continue your usually way and spray protection. As long as you want.
@@MirandaDetailing Thank you so much for the explanation Phil. So many products, so little time! I am having fun though. My only concern is my wife saying I spend too much $ on product, but she does like a clean car. Plus I have to gas it up. CHEERS!
So kinda on or similar vein. A few months ago I decided to just use gyeon wet coat as my protection. I got sick of laborious paste waxes and even spray waxes. Just spray after every wash and car beads and looks great. In the last few days I asked myself does wet coat have UV protection and seems it doesn’t. But is there any risk with this method?
Hi. That’s a viable option. Honestly I do t worry about UV protection anymore. There is no way to gauge that or stop it completely. Unless you keep your car under a car port or garage. But as long as your car is easier to clean, glossy and beading water each time, that’s what really matters to me.
