Well done guys i just remembered armour all tyre foam does about the same thing its in a can cost next to nothing and no rinsing needed you can if you want but you charge 100 for a engine clean 15 maby 20 for a can of foam and boom a fast 80 for 5 maby 10 min of little effort. Its exactly what you guys just did with other products. A beter job but i wouldnt pressure wash those sensors and stuff are extremely delicate but great job guys looks good

One thing I would recommend is make sure the fuse block cover is on correctly before using a pressure washer. As a service tech I have seen a good amount of the fuse covers on older vehicles not put back on correctly and could get blown off with a pressure washer and water get in the fuse block.
Wow two legends in one place! Renny's beanie and Phil's sunglasses coming together for the Collab!! 😂😂😂😂 Being real though, one tip I can offer that evolved from a great tip I got from Yvan about wheel wells: use a dry brush on that stuff you can first. Like Phil said that engine bay liner will hold onto stuff for days while you try to rinse it out (just like "carpeted" wheel wells). If the engine bay liner is in good condition and not falling off just use the side of an EZ detail brush and get after it.
Thanks Phil, I just started using Koch-ChemieGreen Star then foaming it with their AF, letting it dwell for a minute or so then agitate. That combo seems to really lift everything off very well. I blow it off and then coat with their Motorplast and that leaves a great look like new look. Only takes me about 30 minutes to do the engine bay.
I’ve used my Tornador lately with great results. If useing degreasers, they work better when they are diluted with hot water. Citrus based chemicals work well on the greasy parts.

Somehow I never got into trouble doing an engine bay and if anyone knows me this would be a surprise. I did have friends get in trouble with sensors on 80’s Toyotas. Great advice with the sound insulator on the hood and nice looking products too. This event is turning out excellent content!
Most new cars have pretty well sealed weatherpak connectors on everything. The old cars didn't have that on ignition electronics and water caused shorts. I washed my Celica's engine at the car wash one day in 1994. The car wouldn't start afterwards because the thermal shock cracked the distributor cap. Spark was grounding out to the distributor base, causing a no spark situation.
One engine that I do more often than not these days is hybrid engines and you must reassure the owner it’s ok! Also from a detailing business point of view, I get it often from them. “It’s not a full engine since it’s a hybrid, so why charge the full amount?” So things to look out for as we move away from combustion engines

Cool video. Question: where does it all go? Mud, oil, fluids, leaves, sticks, and the like. Down off the engine, right to the floor/driveway. Crazy mess. Folks didnt like stains on driveway. Now i gotta detail the floor/driveway. Oh yeah. One of the reasons i only do spot cleaning under the hood. Little grease cutter and rags and have at it. Dress afterward. Good question. Most daily driver engines aren’t so greasy and dirty that they make make much of a mess. We never had to clean up after an engine cleaning on a driver way because it didn’t make much of a mess. But if it did, we would simply clean the section of the driveway.
A couple questions, Great video showcasing engine clean process. Do you blow off the access water from the engine prior to dressing it? And is this P&S Dynamic product good for dressing the tires?
Hi. Thanks. You don’t have to blow out the water first. Renny mentioned that the water helps dilute the dressing while it dries. But that’s an option to dry first, personal preference really. Yes the Dynamic dressing and s an all around dressing for tires, trim, and any plastics parts. 😎👍🏼
Would you use this same technique with a diesel vehicle? How about if the vehicle is ceramic coated ,PPF and wrapped? Also would you have to be worried about the over spray to those types of vehicles while your waiting for the dwell time?
Hi. Yes we have cleaned diesels the same way. Same principles apply if the vehicle is wrapped, ppf’d, or coated, in fact that doesn’t matter at all. Any overspray is just a little APC, it doesn’t hurt anything. Dwell time is only for a minute or less. As long as you don’t let anything dry completely, it’s fine.
It won’t get dirty it just gets a little dirty water on it that is easily rinsed off again. Don’t worry about that, that’s very inconsequential. It’s like the argument for doing wheels first or paint. It doesn’t really matter. Just focus on cleaning everything and you will be fine.
on the hood and door area's that's seam sealer or panel bond yes it can fall off if the car is older and will chip the paint off as they paint over it not paint then apply it i work at a body shop newer cars have came in with that happening always just wipe it with a rag

Is it ok to get water on the battery and cables? My car hae only 40k but the cable is so rusty the battery doesn't keep a charge. Should I have cleaner the cables as I've brushrd the connectors?
Hi. Yes it’s fine. Actually you can spray acidic wheel cleaners on the terminals if they are crusty and dirty. It helps break it and clean them so they have a better connection.
Kudos for stressing "if its on you its in you" Most folks dont realize that the skin is a "route of ingestion" just like mouth and lungs. I wish I knew this years ago when I had my hands in acetone for days at a time.
Question, I am new to doing this myself and have seen a lot saying to undo the battery but didn't see you guys do that. Is that something necessary to do? Great video and appreciate you taking the time to go through it!
Hi. No it’s not necessarily and actually it’s not good because it resets everything in the vehicle. It’s better to have the vehicle turned off and just clean, rinse, dry, and dress and then you can turn it on and let it heat up and dry or just leave it off and let everything dry on it’s on.
@@MirandaDetailing Sorry to ask again but wanted to be safe my pressure washer is a Dewalt 3300 psi. Seeing a lot that seems to much but really don't want to buy a new one. Do you think I will be alright as long as I do like you said make sure to not get right up on it with the gun? Thank you again
With this cleaner, the risk of using a pressure washer doesn't seem necessary - as pressure washing puts water in places you don't want it. A garden hose with a nozzle is always your best bet.
Hi. That’s totally an option, but either way is fine. Mobile detailers mostly use pressure washers, so do most shops. But if your detailing at home as a DIY’r a garden hose is fine. But water in engines causing damage is a thing of the past. 😎👍🏼
You can use whatever method you feel like using. But as Renny and I mentioned, modern engines are sealed up pretty tight and using a pressure washer doesn’t cause any issues at all. As we demonstrated using it at a distance and being thoughtful as to how it’s used actually works better than just a garden hose with free flowing water. Renny creeps me out. The guy just seems so slimy. That said good content Phil. I’ve been using DIY Detail APC at 15/1 in my IK foamer, works great and costs pennies compared to brake buster. On the seam sealer, McKee’s 37 marine line has a great mold cleaner that works amazingly well.

Back in the 80's I would clean the engine with it running. Not sure why I did that. But now I do it with the engine off.
What would you do differently when cleaning a 1998 Toyota Corolla (my car) that's in good shape, but not nearly as sealed as newer vehicles?

Very true! I wash my hands a lot these days! I can’t wear gloves for anymore then 15 min because I get contact dermatitis.

Nope.Not on newer vehicles. Everything is sealed and can get wet.

Yes, once it dries it’s fine. That’s why we turn it on after it’s done and let everything dry up and have the belts running.

What about covering the alternator?
Hi. Not a problem with newer vehicles. Older ones you can but even those are fine if the vehicle isn’t running.
Would the process be the same for hybrid vehicles?
Yes it would be. We have done that plenty of times on hybrids.

Don’t buy a car with VVT (variable valve timing) engine. Lots of problems with it and expensive to repair.
