  • @michellekempfsu
    @michellekempfsu 2 года назад +3

    Great video. I personally find that using the pump sprayer with the misting spray nozzle works great and uses less product than the foamer and the end results are the same. Keep it wet, work fast in the summer heat and the end result is a faster, more efficient job. Temps in my area are 94-100 degrees so the heat alone causes everything to dry quicker. Because of that, I spray one panel at a time and go at it quickly. I love my apc rinse. It is the way to go. No doubt!!

    First off - I'm learning so much from your videos, thanks! Quest: Could that small SPTA handheld polisher possibly be used with a cleaner polish as part of the prep process for a better bond before using a ceramic-based spray wax/sealant? Or is a full blown 8/15mm polisher much better for a cleaner polish?

    I enjoy these pre-soak/prewash videos. Phil, do you think APC's are sufficient compared to the foaming products? Have you tried Bilt Hamber Touchless? I use Optimum Power Clean. I have a truck that sees off-road use. The foaming products, like Gyeon Foam, don't seem to work nearly as well as Optimum Power Clean and possibly other APC's.

    • @MirandaDetailing
      @MirandaDetailing  Год назад +3

      Hi. Thanks. So we have found that our pre wash methods will change according to the condition of the vehicle and what service we are doing. For really nasty vehicles that we have not detailed in a while or first time customers we use a strong APC at 1:4 and do our APC rinse method. We have found that the snow foaming products even ones like Bilt Hamber don't clean as well as out APC rinsing methods. But that's just what we have found...other detailers have their methods that still work for them.

    A little tip I can give for any spray bottles and foamers. If you replace the plastic pickup tubes with flexible hoses, and weight the filter ends with stainless steel washers, you can turn the sprayers at angles without sucking up air since the weighted end will always be submerged. Makes wheels and tire wells much easier to hit. Works very well for interior bottles since you need to hit lots of different angles.

      The same pick up tubes in some of the better foam cannons, tornador w/solution bottle etc. challenge is finding tube long enough for larger bottles. Try taking the nozzle off any P&S 16oz bottle and pull back a bloody stump.

I usually do the wheels and pre soak outside then move into my garage and do rinseless since I have hard water. Another great video!! Im in the pnw so the main thing I fight is moss, I stopped pre-soaking a while back since It didn't matter what I did I just had to spend the same amount of water and time rinsing the moss out of the seams. Any suggestions on a moss specific pre? I'm going to look around thanks for reminding me it can be helpful!
    On a side note, if my neighbor was letting freedom ring in the first week of July I'd join him/her. And get their number so I could let em know in advance that I was filming at a certain time and maybe they would save their rediculously pricey ammo at that time. Just a thought. I know if I had enough property to have a berm I would happily oblige my friendly neighbors if they needed certain quiet times.

It inhibits further growth too, and I find it makes a difference on rubber seals that don’t get a lot of protection attention like paint does.

    I live in Texas and I purchased a 2023 Mazda CX-5 in November of last year. I want to keep it clean so I purchased different products and accessories. I don't have a garage to work in so I try to clean the car outside when it's not too hot. My method is to rinse down the car with the garden hose before using Griots red snow foam in their foam gun. Then I rinse that off with the garden hose before using SudsLab C1(?) car wash for the contact wash. Of course in the drying stage it seems I can't dry the water off before water spots form. So I purchased Griots water spot remover and the spray on rinseless car wash(?) to remove the spots and protect it. The problem I have with those 2 products is when drying it leaves an oily film. Should I switch to a different product since I can't avoid cleaning the car in the sun?

      Hi. So this pre wash process is for initial details only. Vehicles that have a wax, sealant, or coating are washed differently. Basically just pre rinsing, foaming and washing. • @MirandaDetailing
      @MirandaDetailing  Год назад +1

      So are you washing a vehicle that has protection already on it? Or is this an initial detail that you want to deep clean and then wax or seal afterward? That’s where the difference is for me. For a maintenance wash on a vehicle that is already protected if you need to use a stronger pre wash then you should follow up with some sort of spray protection to top it. Not all “drying aids” have protection in them. So find something that is a spray wax/sealant that can be applied wet or dry. The hybrid solutions wet wax is a ceramic based spray on ceramic sealant that can be applied wet or dry.

    • @MirandaDetailing

      I’m just showing options. But for us the foam for the pre washing can be better then just spraying because it doesn’t dry up fast. The foaming while contact washing is also beneficial for lubrication and cushion, it lessen the friction of the clay mitt and bar and we don’t get as much marring. As I mentioned I wasn’t actually polishing or buffing, the machine application very lightly polished because of the little pad friction and removes any such marring that may occur. It’s all about working in layers and safely. But again this is just our method that is tried and true for us, it’s faster, safer, and simply works. 😎👍🏼

    I bought P&S APC, I’m a noobie, but I’m not impressed, it seems to dull any surface I put it on, I’ve tried the recommended dilution ratios and tried it on vinyl and interior plastics, also on leatherette, is it supposed to dull everything ? I’d be scared to try it in the paint of my car.
    Also, will this degrade any wax, sealant or ceramic coating ? I have my car done with TLC2.

      Hi. Do you mean you have been using it on interior leathers, vinyl, and plastics and it’s leaving it a matte dry finish?

    • @chrisryan8894
      @chrisryan8894 Год назад +1

      @@MirandaDetailing yes, but not that OEM type finish. It looks almost cloudy dull. Like either lots of residue has been left behind or it has stripped away something. It gets a nice look back after applying a dressing (Adam’s VRT), but the finish leaves me concerned and especially nervous to try on paint

      @@chrisryan8894 that’s weird. Never had a problem with using that apc before. Usually when using any leather cleaner we use a damp towel to “rinse” the surface so it doesn’t leave residue. A dry towel isn’t sufficient. But it should leave a dry matte finish becasue it has cleaned all the dirt and off. You can also reduce the dilution more if needed. Recently we have been using dedicated leather cleaners like Megs leather cleaner D181. It’s a ready to use cleaner that works incredibly well!

      @@MirandaDetailing thanks for the tips. I’ll try the damp towel and a higher dilution…I’d like to use up the product before buying something else. I bought the gallon size hoping it would save me some money

      Hi. Yeah pretty much. We use a lot of Super Clean as our exterior APC rinse at 1:4.

    Will APC pre-rinse strip your protectant?

      Hi. Yes it can. That’s the point when doing a full detail. We want to paint clean. For maintenance details we don’t use an apc pre wash. We just rinse and wash.

    how many minutes before rinsing the pre wash solution? thank you sir for great tips 😊

    • @MirandaDetailing
      @MirandaDetailing  4 месяца назад +1

      Hi. That all depends on how hot it is and if it’s in direct sunlight. It’s not about minutes it’s about watching the paint and making sure it doesn’t dry completely. It really only takes 30-60 seconds then rinse off.

    Hey Phil, I do have a question about the aerosol tire dressing. I think it was Larry for AMMO NYC who said that solvent-based dressings will ruin the sidewall of the tires? Is this true? How often do you need to use aerosol before it becomes a problem? Love the videos! :)

      Hi. Yeah solvent based dressings can in time break down rubber. However not all aerosol dressings are solvent. The stoners tire dressings are not solvent based. They are actually a water based product.
