- A side-by-side comparison of the game Superman 64 between PlayStation (PS1) and N64 (Nintendo 64).
Note: The game's real name is Superman: The New Superman Adventures, but it is better known as Superman 64. The PlayStation 1 version was a canceled project, due to the negative reception of the N64 version.

Correction: In the video, it shows the release dates for Mega Man Legends as PS1 (1997) and N64 (2000)... however, the correct dates for Superman 64 are: PS1 (''2000'') and N64 (1999).

@@ВладиславЗимин-г2ц die Grafik der N64 ist noch schlechter. Das Gameplay ist ganz weit unten. Die Zeit ist knapp bemessen und die Steuerung miserabel. Da sieht die PS1 Version um Welten besser aus.
Wenn beim N64 kein Ton an ist dann brummt das System. Warum eigentlich? Die PS 1 Version sieht spaßiger aus und sieht bei weitem besser aus. Schade eigentlich das sie es nicht veröffentlichen durften. Verstehe auch nicht warum sie nicht die gleiche Version von der PS1 Version genommen haben für N64.
@@vcdecide I'm not sure why you're bringing up Mega Man. The PS1 version was planned for 2000, but was cancelled.

Honestly at least the PS1 version looks way more playable I couldn't get through the first couple of flying sections on N64.

The PlayStation version is I believe closer to what the original intention of the game was.
Unfortunately, the N64 version suffered from a lot of corporate meddling which lead them to be severely limited in what they could do.
It would be SO AWESOME if this PSX version were released, it's far from perfect, but it's miles better than the N64 one!
Is it kinda competition which version has more tedious gameplay?

The Playstation version is quite good. The opening cutscene is welcome to any fan of the great animated series. Plus having all your powers at the start is a nice touch. Neat the way you get damaged. The enemies must be firing Kryptonite because the game wouldn't be a challenge if you could just tank all damage. Shame this would of been a rental for me if the full game was released.
The PS version is the clear winner here. It still sucks ass, but looks like a game.

1:12 The Playstation version was developed by none other then Blue Sky Software. At the time subsidiary of Titus. Blue Sky Software was well known for Vectorman, Jurassic Park and the critically acclaimed World Series Baseball on the Sega Genesis. Looking into it they had a go at developing the port. However Titus loss the license to Warner Bros which lead to the cancellation.
So Titus was the crappier company? How weird...
That N64 version looks like it was built for the 32x. How did Nintendo allow this to hit store shelves.

It was first used by NoA to convince people to buy videogame consoles after the disaster of 1983 due to low quality games launching everyday for atari and other consoles at the time. So better read something before making an statement. Or maybe you are from ign?

I think the PS1 was really underrated when it came to textures. They just look so crisp.

Se não me engano, o final deste jogo do Superman é patético. Aparece uma mensagem de texto genérica só dizendo "Congratulations to you!" e mais nada, sem o mínimo de cutscenes detalhando um final de respeito
It seems the Ps1 game doesn´t have the "Open world" outdoors sections/missions. I don´t know if that is a blessing, a curse, or just a technical hardship. 😆

After the Dreamcast came out, I was done with the dated graphics of both the PS1, N64, and Saturn. It was a much noticeable difference back then. Walking into a Babbages and seeing how ugly the older systems were almost hurt my eyes.
Same .. Dreamcast always had the btter version of games it was truly next geb in alll aspects compared to sony , and Nintendo at the time . I can't believe more ppl didn't get one immediately

No, they still looked good on crts from the time. Even the N64. It didn´t help that Dreamcast shared a lot of ports with the last generation systems that only improved marginally in rendering resolution and still didn´t achieve locked 60fps in some of those ports.
Dreamcast had the graphics but not the games.

If anybody is interested in there is a Superman64 beta that can be played and ita very different, there are no ring challenges and the graphics are slightly better and you can explore the open world freely.....
Honestly, this game had a lot of potential, but it had a lot of problems in development and they rushed the release with some quickly put together level missions to have something to sell, it actually sold pretty well like 400.000 copies at 60$ from 1999 which are equivalent to 100$ of today. So this game made around 40$ million in revenue XD

That Seal of Quality was for the manufacturing process that assured you that the cartridge you purchased still works 20 years or so later.

This reminds me of the Mission Impossible game, another crappy blocky low res low frame rate N64 game that got the benefits of a larger media when ported to PS1.

Tiene mejor calidad de texturas al no estar comprimidas comon en el cartucho de N64. Los juegos de PS1 eran de 650mb y no 64mb como en N64.
@@waltergsartssi eso lo entiendo pero no hablo de las texturas sino de la resolución, en los polígonos se sienten más los dientes de sierra en la de Nintendo que en la de PS1, se nota mejor resolución interna

Esse jogo por incrível que pareça jogo até hoje em casa, inclusive ganhei esse cartucho do Tiozão da Casa do Videogame no finalzinho da década passada quando fiz uma compra de vários itens de games da loja dele e a fita ele me deu de brinde. Já a versão de PlayStation foi uma pena não terem lançado, cortigiram quase todos os problemas da versão do Nintendo 64, mas por algum motivo foi cancelado, o mais engraçado é que o PlayStation vendia como água nessa época e mesmo assim o console teve alguns jogos cancelados. Fico com a versão N64 pela nostalgia, mas não descarto a versão do PlayStation 1 pelas melhorias implementadas na jogabilidade.
Como é difícil criar um jogo de um personagem que é um Game Shark ambulante...

I finished the 64 version, including mastering it on RetroAchievements; I like the game for the challenge, but the bugs ruin the game (which is no longer wonderful); ps1 version is also good, a little difficult

I can't watch these for more than a couple of minutes, no idea how you played it for so long. These make me angry, angry that someone thought these were good ideas, and then during testing thought these were fun for anyone to play.

It used to be very difficult to port games, so they would usually come up with different versions to speed up the production of the games and leave it to another studio or a different group of developers. If you look at many games that are on N64 and PS1, they have very different versions, an example of this is 007 The World is not enough, the PS1 version is radically different from the N64 version and of worse quality.
That was common in that gen. Consoles had very different capabilities and was more efficient to develop separate versions.
It was a low budget game anyways.
N64 version of Superman might be the worst game of all N64 games but at least it has raytracing relfexions as seen at min 03:10
