    I believe front and rear drain tubes are check on OPC service, however, even where checked it is possible for a blockage to occur at some point between services it is therefore prudent to open the pan roof carefully pour warm water in the drain holes either side at each front corner of the pan roof channel and watch for the exit of water at the back of each front wheel. The same test applies to the rear these however are not accessible you have to carefully direct the water toward the rear of the pan roof drain hole in each corner, raising the vehicle’s front end helps, maybe driving on to a brick under each front wheel, allowing the water to run backwards, I have a slopping drive so no problem, again watch for the exit of water and as with the front unblock tube(s) if necessary, the whole job takes minutes only!
    As for water entry in to both front foot wells, this is a fault Porsche should and must seriously consider implementing a service fix for! It happens MAINLY when parking the vehicle facing backwards on a slope/hill when it is raining, water running down the pan roof channels toward the rear drain tube holes backs up along the channel toward the front, I guess due to the drain holes/tubes being to smaller diameter. With a very light shower they cope, however any amount of heavy rain creates the problem as the water back up collecting in the front aperture of the pan roof, as the front drain holes are dealing with their own water they become overwhelmed allowing water to back up in to the pan roof cassette area flowing over the pan roof cassette down each A pillar soaking the footwell carpets. As a result the integrity of wiring connections on route of the water flow may be compromised causing all manner of electrical problems! I garage my vehicle, but if left on the drive, as mentioned early I’m on a slope, I make sure the vehicle faces downward. You would think it would happen parking this way too, bizarrely though it doesn’t, may be as mentioned it ‘s all to do with drain hole size? Parking on level ground under these conditions appears not to be a problem.

      Thank you for a detailed response! Yes it's a service check here in the UK, don't think there is a recall for the drain pipes but they do fix it under warranty and multiple macans have been in the workshops at the same time for the same issues. A simple 30 second fix that solves most issues is just cutting the rubber tips off the drain tubes, the internal diameter of the drains then opens up and no longer block

    I have a 1st GEN Macan that I got in Nov 2014 (I was within the first 7,000 owners in the US), and had been driving it in the NorthEast of the US (New England) for 10 years in Winters that had been really rough/cold and never seen this issue. I have heard about the sunroof drain issues, but mostly caused by blockage and solved by inserting a wire through the drain and declogging it. There might be issues where the clog causes water to freeze and disconnect connections or break lines as it expands in the winter. But nothing caused by the windshield washer system. If you use the right fluid, you won’t have issues. Now, there may be cases of extreme cold where the tip of the nozzle may freeze. In those cases, you need to make sure that your Macan comes with a heated nozzle. Mine is heated, and normally all Macan sold in colder climates have heated nozzles.

    This sounds like a washer fluid issue.....not a design issue. Most washer fluid that you can buy at your local auto parts store won't freeze until the temp outside is lower than -40 degrees Fahrenheit. I have a Macan Turbo for the last three years in the NE part of the US. and never had an issue. I frequently go skiing in NY and Vermont where is gets pretty damn cold. Last year experienced -17 degrees F in February and no clogged lines. Seems like user error to me.

      So water backing up due to a blocked drain hole because it was made too small and overflowing into the battery well and fuse box is a washer fluid issue?

      I've had 2 Macan GTS's and neither of mine have had the issues you call "bad design." Not my 2017 or 2021. Your ECU is that silver box to the right of the engine. There's 4 fuse panel locations in that vehicle. They are not where you say they are, and there's no way for the windshield washers to drain through the foot-well. Because of the firewall. The reservoir is behind that front wheel well, in front of the front door hinges, and it drains out right below where the rocker panel meets the tank. Ughh.
      The panoramic roof isn't known to have any "common" leaking problems. All that's been said about them is that sometimes they squeak. I think maybe you have been woefully misinformed, and now you're spreading misinformation about the vehicle, whilst simultaneously discrediting yourself.
      There's this informative book that has all the pertinent information about the very vehicle you're confused about.
      It's called the "Owners Manual."
      There's even a bunch of quick reference videos about the various vehicle functions right on your PCM screen. As well as the Porsche "Good to know" app that's another good place to find FACTUAL INFO.

    Hm the first problem is user error if they literally used water but I believe that he doesn't literally mean he fills his washer fluid reservoir from his home tap. The thing is nozzles CAN still freeze over even if you use window washer fluid rated to below freezing temperatures. Then when you try to spray the windshield washer fluid with de-icer in it nothing comes out. The thing is, when that happens, it shouldn't decouple the washer fluid lines... either Porsche is going way overboard with a super-power pump for the fluid or the coupling between the washer fluid lines and and other components is way too weak.
    The drain thing is also pretty annoying/stupid. Even the basic economy car manufacturers have figured that out a long time ago.

    • @Lukuss

    I call BS. I'm on the Macan forums all the time and I've never heard anyone complain of this, nor have I ever had this problem with my Macan. The drains for the roof have nothing to do with the windsheild wiper fluid lines. Every car can get water inside the vehicle from a clogged sunroof drain but I've neaver heard of water freezing in a sunroof drains because the water runs out quickly. Sunroof drains can get clogged with dirt but it's easy to clear them.

    • @dlxfilms

    You mention the Forums have acknowledged this (if I understood correctly) > do you have a link to where there's discussion with others who have experienced the same?
    Speaking for Cayennes (assume the same or similar on Macans) > water drainage in the front driver & or passenger side floorboard is typically a very easy/cheap address... there are plugs that must be cleaned out every so often... depending on environment of course...if you don't garage or park outside consistently, etc.
    That said, have to assume Porsche would have looked at this right out the gate on Your car.
    The biggest problem I've heard abt on the Macans (& it's no doubt a significant issue) is the engine bolts...too short & aluminum > some are breaking off....not good & if not caught early is quite a pricey fix > evidently Porsche is well aware yet no Recall to date > waiting for as many Warrantys to expire is what it sounds like.
    In general, Cayennes are a safer bet... especially as they begin to rack up the miles > better builds overall....ya get what ya pay for as they say.

It is almost like you need to install bilge pumps all over the vehicle as a backup for when the drain holes plug. The washer piping is a nightmare, All the manufacturers manufacturers know about this. They still insist on designing them this way , why? It is because it makes them money. Today I'm picking up my 2020 Macan Turbo from my dealership after having the EXACT same issues: first, lost my parking sensors and reverse camera (which led to a collision with another vehicle); then lost the start/stop feature, and the rear windshield defrost (which is a safety feature). I realized how serious this was getting when I finally lost my turn signals. Then, the problem became how to book a repair in the overcrowded Porsche dealerships schedules. The worst part is that ALL of this could be avoided if the dealership would have done its job which was to make sure these water drains were nice and clean.
    During this time, I decided to trade my Macan for a BMW which, by previous experiences, is a much more reliable car. I'm sad about it because I'm a huge Porsche fan since childhood, but the reality is that I do not trust the car, and (for other issues) the make anymore. This does not make sense. First, washer fluid is made of alcohol so it does not freeze. The fluid lines were not damaged by frozen fluid. The only way freezing water expanding to break the line would happen is if some ding dong put actual water in the reservoir. Second, a FULL fluid reservoir does not hold enough ounces to dump 6” of water in the boot! And who drives their car around with that much water sloshing around and doesn’t notice until it’s “SO much water and rising” as he described, and as deep as we saw?? If there is some other issue that I’d letting rain water in, then there could be water that deep. However, that’s A LOT of water to be leaking in. I can’t help but think if there was a hole in a seal somewhere that would allow that, then wouldn’t you also hear a wind noise while driving because the car seals were not fully sealed at the openings?? Again, rain water leaks are SO SO SO rare in ALL cars across the board. How often do you EVER hear that?? Never. Third, I own a Macan. 5 of my neighbors own Macans. I know several other people who have owned Macans and NO ONE has had this issue. Fourth, I feel like if this were a design flaw, or a “big issue that Porsche is aware of” as he said, I think there would be SO many RUclips reviews that talk a bout it and the Macan would not be the most sold Porsche in the world that literally saved Porsche financially. Sixth, his car is SO filthy-dirty. It makes me wonder how he treats it. It looks like he may not take all that great a care of it. He may even beat it up a bit, or he bought a used one and someone else beat it up, or he’s super unlucky and it’s a lemon 🍋🤷🏻‍♀️ I wonder if he’s done something that caused the leaking issues. If he was careless and put straight water in the washer fluid reservoir, then he caused the problem himself. And now he’s going to make a bad review on RUclips to get money out of Porsche to fix it, because an owner putting water in a fluid reservoir would not be covered by warranty-it would be “negligent damage” by the owner, so I feel like he’s trying to get Porsche to pay for it. I get such a bad vibe listening to this guy give his review. I feel like this review REEKS of BS.
      If you want a Macan, buy a Macan. They are great cars!! SO much fun to drive 😊

    When I was researching the Panamera, I went onto the forums and came across owners with Pano roof issues. It was mainly rattles and squeaks, and many owners advised against getting the Pano roof. There wasn't anything I can recall about water. The Panny at least has the battery in the front, under the bonnet, where it should be. The comments about the Pano roof were enough for me to pick one that had no pano roof. There was no way I wanted the hassle in case it gave issues. I wondered why the pano roof cars were not more expensive on the used market. I think in northern Europe, where it is just constantly raining and damp in the winter, it is probably best to avoid them. Just make sure you spec a light interior, as a black leather interior with no pan roof can be very gloomy.

    @alleycreative Год назад +5

    Most of this sounds like the result of poor maintenance. 1) Never put water in your washer fluid reservoir and (2) check your battery well every few months or more regularly if the weather has been particularly wet.
    Regarding the gear box disengaging: Any newer Macan with PDK and automatic engine Stop/Start will coast if (1) Stop/Start is turned on and (2) you gently release the throttle. If you don’t want the car to coast, turn off Stop/Start.

    • @Lukuss
      @Lukuss  Год назад +4

      Ahhh yes I forgot the dealer mentioned you have to check your battery well regularly for water build up... not poor maintenance, it's a poor design issue, simple.
      As for the coasting we found out it was a feature on this car after the repairs. We never got told about it on collection. BUT it was still a fault because like 90% of people we always turn stop start off which turns off the coast mode. When faults starting appearing it dropped out of gear even with stop-start deactivated. That's how we found out

      Agree. It’s a design issue; but if it is a known potential problem then one can avoid significant damage by checking it. My 2020 Macan S has 30,000 miles and other than two flat tyres has only had regular maintenance.

      @@Lukuss a lot of parts now is from plastic and not from iron or aluminium because of EU instructions. Also this is the last year for Porsche macan models in EU. Porsche stop sales in EU Countries from 2025 because EU demand from them to change something in the machine, and Porsche decide tthat will be more profitable for them to stop sales in EU than to procceed to that changes. Google it, this is known from the start of 2024

      Porsche will remove the combustion-powered Macan from sale in the EU in spring 2024, as it won't meet new cybersecurity rules, but it will remain available in the UK

    Hey genius. Porsche sells washer fluid that is antifreeze for the washer fluid refill. Do you top your radiator with water too?...good grief. I have a 2017 GTS and it is and has been a great vehicle. Make smart decisions to maintain your vehicle and you can avoid dumb issues like this one. keep the car clean and if you park outdoors, take care to clean the roof. simple.

      hey bud, read comments below. i mentioned i didnt mean literally water and the valve is a common issue aswell as the drains blocking up. see the many comments from others that have had similar or the same issues with theirs and search the forums.
      Also... the car is on british roads in winter.. its impossible to keep clean with all the crap on the roads

    I'm driving 2022 macan... Haven't had this problem yet😅... But I noticed another one. Sometimes wipers judder... The car has only 5000km on the clock... And one year old... So it shouldn't happen... Does anyone else have this issue? It seams to me like the wipers motor is a little underpowered...

    • @Lukuss
      @Lukuss  Год назад +1

      Juddering wipers could be the result of cleaning the windows with a certain chemical. Try cleaning the windows with a clay bar to remove anything. Failing that. Put some WD40 on a microfiber and clean the wiper blades with it. That has worked for me before, doesn't last forever but will improve things

    • @raderadic9809
      @raderadic9809 Год назад

      Thanks for the advice, I've already thoroughly cleaned the windshield with isopropyl alcohol-based glass cleaner, but I'll also try clay, even though the windshield looks crystal clear, so if that doesn't help, I'll try silicone wiper spray👍. I see that this is common problem on macan, may by even the design fault of the blades.
