    I'm an industrial/commercial electrician and 98% of the panels, cabinets, transformers,switchgear and large junction boxes we deal with have no k/O's already stamped in them. Milwaukee thought of everything! Most residential elec's/plummers don't do enough holes to justify buying an electric K/O tool. However any industrial/commercial electrician or plummer would love this tool! It would make the job a lot easier, faster and... "funner"

  • @hilham89

    I came across this online and seen the price but it was for the 10t and had to see what exactly it does. I don't do electric or anything like to where I would need something like this, cheaper on the pocket to go buy a set of bits but like I said I'm not knocking the tool just because I couldn't use it. I did read the other comments where people actually said for the jobs they do it would come in handy. I like Milwaukee as most of my drills, impacts, ect. are indeed Milwaukee.

    my company bought this for our generator installs and i can say its the most badass tool ive ever used. linking conduit between the panel, transfer switch, and the meter can has never been quicker. saves so much time and work. if it was cheaper i would buy it for myself

    I bought the 6T last year. Replaced it with the 10t Friday when I sent my 6t in for repair. The 6T is OK for 1 guy on a service truck punching holes up to 2" with the occasional larger size hole but it is not good for commercial or industrial construction with any quantity of larger holes. It self destructs.

    I am not an electrician or a plumber so this may be a dumb question but why don't you just drill the hole the size you need to begin with Instead of drilling a smaller hole just to stick the mandrel through?

  • @tapelegs

    my company has about a dozen of the 10 ton milwaukee punches. They are pretty handy, but do NOT have the power to punch through thick enclosures and cant punch through two enclosures at the same time (which is done frequently to get holes between adjacent panels perfectly aligned). Clicked on this video hoping Milwaukee was announcing a tool with MORE power than the 10 ton version.

    I realize that this is irrelevant, but,... Having never seen one of these tools "in action" before, I felt kinda jipped when it punched that hole. I was expecting a quick loud manly sounding tool (like the instant thud of a heavy duty spiker, or some kind of pneumatic piston, like the impact hammer from the original Unreal Tournament). Instead, what we got was a weak-ass sounding, grandmas AA powered screwdriver sound. Now, it does the job, sure, but add some cool sound effects, or lights Milwaukee! I at least want to see some red hot metal smoking, when that thing is done. WOOO! 'MERICA!

    I"m a retired electrician. I could on used a tool like that. I must of punched thousands of holes. Stainless was the worst. I can still hear the steel squeaking in protest. I did most with a wrench, some bigger holes with a hydraulic pump that was cumbersome.

      Jeff Harmed The only way I see it happening if there's a drill bit on the end (Of the threaded rod) and you drill it through then punch the bigger hole. Otherwise it wouldn't be possible to be all-in-one.

      +Matthew Fant It's defiantly better than the hand pumped hydraulic system that most electricians use. The only use I would have is making tons of metal confetti with it this is a tool a commercial electrician would use an that is about it.

    Great tool for a electrician but I thought a lot of the panels come with holes ready to be punched out?

    • @DarkRaptor99
      @DarkRaptor99 8 лет назад

      +Eric DuPlantier I think in commercial work you would use it more. Residential panels have knockouts all over.

    • @XxPhasemanxX
      @XxPhasemanxX 8 лет назад

      Most panels do have knock outs all over but even as a residential electrician I could use this tool a lot because most of the time you'd use this for holes bigger than 1" such as when a PVC pipe needs to enter a junction box. you really don't need to knock out a hole unless the box you're using doesn't come with them (Such as a 6X6 or 12x12) or if they don't have a big enough hole.

  • @chrisryan3770
    @chrisryan3770 8 лет назад

    So do you have to drill the pilot hole? Boxes over here don't cone full of holes like the demo one. If drilling a small hole why not just drill the correct size?

    • @corwinclark4139
      @corwinclark4139 8 лет назад

      so true...especially a 1 inch? hole saw is the way to go

    • @tapelegs
      @tapelegs 8 лет назад

      +Chris Ryan because often the enclosures are made of thick gauge or hardened steel and drilling to the full size is a pain in the ass, plus the bit can walk even if you mark the center with a scratch awl. Alignment is important visually, and even small alignment errors can cause the locknuts on conduit connectors to hit each other. I usually do holes up to 1 inch with a unibit, but if there is a hydraulic punch handy, I will use that instead.

    • @feelingtardy
      @feelingtardy 8 лет назад

      +Tapelegs Not to mention pilot bits break constantly on hole saws. I can't stand using those crappy bits to drill the pilot hole and using force to get through the metal, only to have the hole saw catch and snap the pilot because I didn't back off the pressure in time, lol.

  • @jesusvilla5951

    For $1100 tool. I rather use a hand pump hydraulic for 1/10 of the price. You may have to pump once or twice more, it at least you know you’ll never run out of battery, maybe just elbow grease.

      Man, I was in the same boat! Saw one at the local pawn shop like a week ago and was drooling over it. I'm a remodeler that does everything interior, including electric. Mostly residential. Not much commercial at all. But I knew exactly what it this was when I saw it. I mean the entire kit, with all the bells and whistles...and (3) 18v 5.0 batteries. It hurt, but I just couldn't justify the purchase. Left (a week ago) and returned today. Shop owner said that it was "too specialized of a tool, and people don't know what it is", when I asked why it hadn't sold. Needless to say he let me get it for $400.00 out the door. So hear it am, looking up videos on it, tryna convince myself I will use it one day. Lol. It's the heavier one though...but the complete kit!

      G Y if you even have to ask how that's better than using a hole saw you've never used a knockout punch and I would venture you're not an electrician either

    • @ElevatedMochi
      @ElevatedMochi 7 лет назад

      Richie sak I'm a fourth year apprentice and this would be the first time I've heard of this tool through this video. Mind explaining like I'm 5?

    • @richiesak3939
      @richiesak3939 7 лет назад +2

      G Y sure no problem as I've been doing this for over 20 years and am a lead Foreman now on a million square foot commercial job where we have to punch probably in the neighborhood of two to three hundred Knockouts ranging from 1 inch to 4 inch. First you have to consider the thickness of the steel body of pull boxes. Now put a 3 or 4 in hole saw to one of boxes overhead. After the quarter inch pilot bit makes it through the steel, the hole saw is going to engage the metal. At this point will probably bind. Now comes the fun part , starting and stopping the drill repeatedly as the hole saw binds and shakes side-to-side giving you a rough edged hole eventually, probably not the exact size you want. When you use a knockout set all you have to do is make a much smaller hole for the center shaft you see in the video and then proceeded to use the tool to make your knock out the exact size and position you want with a very clean edge. It is much much faster and definitely less strenuous on the apprentice that is making the knockouts. Not to mention on thick steel a hole saw will probably go dull in the neighborhood of 30 - 50 holes. Properly maintained knockout set will last for tens of thousands of knockouts and can be resharpened. Best of luck in your career you definitely chose the best trade. It's the gentleman's trade.

    • @richiesak3939
      @richiesak3939 7 лет назад

      G Y oh and if I mistook the tone of your original response I apologize. Very tough to interpret the intention behind a typed statement as opposed to verbally spoken. Also, generally you will probably see hydraulic punch sets in the companies you will work for.

    • @ElevatedMochi
      @ElevatedMochi 7 лет назад +1

      Richie sak Woaah! I certainly wasn't expecting that sort of response and I do not have a shred of doubt that you are experienced for anything less than 20 years, thank you very much for that! So for clean holes, look no further than the m18 knockout!
      The majority of my work is in the residential(new house builds) and shop fitting sector, that's probably why I've never seen one. Although it doesn't help that my boss is a complete tightass so as his only apprentice I'm the one that does the extra labor, though I'm not complaining about doing the work, I'm all for using the right tool for the job
      You sound like the kind of tradesman I want to become, I actually needed some motivation today so thank you for that too!
      Have a good day boss
