I this it’s funny how people have such a hard time fighting the habit of pulsing the throttle trigger like they are revving a gas engine. These saws are amazing. I have both
And this "Bloke" always, ALWAYS Revs the chainsaw T-W-I-C-E!!!

@@PT-mj3bk thinking about it... You may be 💯 percent correct, but I'm in the "click the tongs together and then twist the tips side-to-side to (clean) the tips" club. 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂 If I just click them, it seems like I click them multiple times... 😉🤷♂️

I'm not surprised the Hatchet did OK with the humungous bar. I've cut several dozen 13" logs with my Hackzall 2719-21 (brushless motor with 7/8" stroke) using a Diablo 12" 3 TPI carbide pruning blade - and a few that were even larger. Not something I'd recommend to amateurs! Great care is required to keep the cut clear of chips and it's only possible with a fresh blade. Also need to stop as soon as the housing gets warm and resume after things cool down. I learned the hard way this tool does not have a 100% duty cycle!
I bought the M12 hatchet for pruning, for which it's excellent. The M18 hatchet was just too expensive, but was surprisingly similar in size and weight. That top handle though, looks a great bit of kit!!
Even the M12 is a weapon! Love them both.
I have the M12 hatchet and love it too but I swapped the 6” bar/chain for the M18 hatchet’s 8” bar/chain and it works great for me no issues. I think the M18 hatchet would do best with a 10” bar/chain! The 14” bar/chain was a little much….but it sure did look cool though lol!!

@@skyemac8 that was the first mod I saw someone do and did that first using my Ryobi 10” pole saw bar/chain. It was ok but the M12 hatchet does better with a full house chain, that and I needed my bar/chain back on my pole saw…lol! I decided to use the M18 8” setup and have liked it ever since! The M12 hatchet with 10” bar/chain is still pretty narly looking!
Nice video as always 👍 I have both and the top handle is a beast. The hatchet struggles with back cuts using the top of the bar because of slow chain speed but the torque is very impressive! The hatchet is perfect for topping hedges because its so light and easy to climb with.

M12 Hatchet with the longer m18 hatchet bar is a little trick and it works awesome if you want to cut slightly bigger stuff than the m12 bar allows you to.

Nice video. just a quick question have you used the 12 ah hd battery and basically cut until the battery is dead? if so roughly how long did it last and how many cuts, I do a lot of dead fall clearing on trails in the mountains and im thinking of getting one. . also the throttle pulsing hahahaha just thought I would mention that.
great video mate, I just came home with the rear handled 14 inch, I went in thinking id get the top handle, felt them both and liked the rear more, but then i see you handling it like its nimble and solid, I dunno, hope i like the rear handle. I was eyeballing the hatchets too and they look great both m12 and 18 but i chose what I chose lol again you video was awesome to see what I was looking at, wish I saw it yesterday haha got a sub from me keep up the great work

Never been a fan of the pruning saws, the top handles seem to work just fine for everything.

Any overheat issues with the top handle?
Does anyone know if you can pit a 1/4p 12” bar and chain on the hatchet? I love my Makita XCU06Z because it accepts the 12” bar and chain that fits in the Stihl 150.

No I didn’t have the right sprocket to change it over unfortunately.
We don't view this as a choice between the M18 standard chainsaw or the M18 baby chainsaw. We have a Stihl gas chainsaw that we use to cut down trees. Before they can be cut into logs the limbs have to be cut off. The Stihl is quite heavy and large making it challenging and dangerous to limb the downed tree. So we bought the M18 baby chainsaw for just the purpose of limbing. It is small and nimble but still powerful enough to cut off thick branches. It takes the most stressful part of the job and makes it safe, easy, and quiet. The M18 standard chainsaw isn't as good at limbing due to its size, it is designed for thicker wood. Now my wife does the limbing rather than me doing all the cutting.
How did y’all swap bars and chains? Isn’t one .325 and the other 3/8 chain. Did y’all swap the sprockets
Yeah I swapped the sprockets, I used one that is featured in our next video 👍🏼
how about a compact tractor test,subjects are the new version of agrozet tzk4 which is now salek or wimea,belarus 132h,dakr panther,kubota yanmar iseki,mitsubishi maybe not the best price 4 by4 tractor cost 5000 plus mwst or vat
The biggest difference is that the hatchet can be used single handed. Unless you are futting down big trees, get the hatchet. Amazing tool

Any chance of repeating the test with equal batteries?
While I assume the top handle is going to be a lot quicker I can’t help but think the chain speed might have been better on the hatchet with the 8ah battery that the top handle was using.
They are not on the same battery system. One is M12 and the other M18. You can’t get a Milwaukee M12 8ah battery.

@@MachineryNation Both are m18 in this video. Also curious to see how the hatchet would do (maybe better?) with the same 8.0 battery used with the top handle for the down up down through oak test.
The hatchet is rough slow jumps and rips limbs especially smaller limbs. Can’t change out sprocket to use smaller pitch chains like Oregon nano or stihl 1/4” picco. Much better off with top handle from any brand. Echo 2511tn is going to be much better. Lightest top handle comes with Oregon nano chain already and probably weighs the same if not lighter than hatchet. Definitely faster and smoother. Especially if you modify with stihl 1/4”
Echo 2500tn for battery option is what I meant. 2511t is gas.
Speed was consistently about 50%
Not bad for a smaller tool with a smaller motor meant for light work.

That hatchet woukd b great for storm clean up. Cutting with one hand, pulling with the other, limbs. Tired of my top handle gas saw for this purpose.

The chain speed on the hatchet is just too slow to cut with the top of the bar, it tries to kick itself off.
Looks like the hatchet isn’t a Fuel version? The top handle is a Fuel version. Fuel versions give more power
The hatchet is the fuel version it says it on the side in small letters below the Milwaukee name.

meh, just get an M18 angle grinder and a kit to mount a bar+chain of your preference, it'll outshine both of these set-ups and for less $$
im not impressed with cordless chainsaws
How many have you used? Probably none... I love my Stihl. I also love my Milwaukee Hatchet for limbing, and for cutting firewood when camping. I can cut enough campfire wood for a long weekend with the Hatchet on one 6Ah battery. No noise to bother other campers either!
