    Too bad this saddle platform is smaller on switch. :(

      I'm embarrassed to tell you I haven't discovered what Switch is yet. I was going to do a whole series for mobile players too, workarounds for all my methods they cannot use because they don't have all the bits, I just cannot keep up.
      I think I understand the problem. What I am doing is: I dismount and aim at the centre of the back edge, and then a bit of trial and error in selfie shows me how far I need to adjust my view downward so it places in the middle, which with rafts I know by referring to a few marks on the skin of the raft and with quetzal I can't remember exactly.
      Is it that because the platform is so short end to end, when you try in selfie view the nearest place you can get on the back edge puts the pillar forward of centre? If so, all I can think is maybe one can line up the back of the platform with some terrain so it acts to extend the platform. So in selfie view you get a green place which is actually off the back of the platform, on the ground, but which when you click will end up in the middle of the platform? So crazy it might just work!
      Sadly that's all I got as I gave up on all this a few months ago but if you need help my Discord discord.gg/D9Rks3zghv is full of people smarter than me and so far we've never failed to either get it done or establish that it can't be. Anyway, thank you!

      same on mobile can only do 1x2 foundations and if front foundation too low, it can make the quet hard to turn around

    No more expending the time placing dozens of foundations by eye until one seems passable. This is an excellent method and most welcome. Well done 👍👍

    Absolutely amazing, very informative and still the best out there, undervalued efforts my man

    don't get the triangle foundation part

    • @hinteregions
      @hinteregions  Год назад

      Totally understandable. When I place that first foundation I turn it without thinking and I should have said, my bad. Foundations give us half pillars in one direction only and that is the main reason to 'turn' a foundation, so you can get those pillars going in the other direction, usually so you can move a foundation by half in that other direction but there's lots of other reasons for turning foundations/ceilings, like getting a ladder to face the way you want. In this video it's something I do a lot of: I've placed a foundation perfectly squared and centred so I can split it and have two foundations across still squared and centred (better than trying to eyeball one and then the other) - but I can't do that because this method puts the foundation on sideways and there's nowhere to put the triangle. The first method I invented was a bit cumbersome and I'll spare you the history lesson. It got easy when we got triangles ruclips.net/video/iyLATOkU-is/видео.html but on small platforms, and some terrain, there's no room! So recently I came up with this ruclips.net/video/zw-lG_uo9uY/видео.html. Changing the direction of foundations or ceilings or whatever is one of the essentials and videos 4, 14, 49, 66, 81, 108, 113, 118, 135, 176, 197, 205, 209 are on topic but very few builds I show don't need a foundation or ceiling turned somewhere and quite a few methods stem from it too. Been thinking about doing a round-up, maybe I will.

      @@hinteregions wow man I'm tipping the hat to the knoweledge! Never noticed foundation orientation o.o also that split method is pretty nice!

      @@MictianHybris1 I was well pleased with this one as I'd been trying to get that foundation on nicely for years. Now any design on any platform can begin with this centred foundation as reference point. Thank you!

    Not working for me, always tilted after i place it

    • @hinteregions
      @hinteregions  Год назад

      That can happen more ways than I know about, can I ask, are you on PC Steam or console? Are you able to follow all the steps so you see the pillar in selfie just hanging on at the back? Then I do what someone here suggested in comments, when I come out of selfie use the arrow keys instead of wobbly freelook to line up with that little brown mark on the raft skin. If a pillar looks fine and green but places tilted I know I am on a raft in shallow water and moving to deeper water will fix it, which makes me suspect some strange interplay with the terrain, and if on a quetzal I feel like I have seen it but can't remember and might be imagining but do know if I did I would try my best to reproduce it starting with bird's relationship to terrain. Wouldn't mind seeing 😃

    • @neglarso
      @neglarso Год назад

      @@hinteregions yeah the problem was fixed by having the quetzal fly while building, might have been terrain.

    • @hinteregions
      @hinteregions  Год назад

      @@neglarso I am so glad to know that, I usually build with the bird high over the sea to completely remove the mysterious terrain variable but mainly so my sad little GT950 has less to render and less lag to fix. I think I kept one in this video ruclips.net/video/O3U8WQhpvOE/видео.html for fun. I'm especially glad it works for you and hasn't fallen victim to dev fiddling as of all that last big spree I am especially pleased with finally resolving the age old squaring/centering on platforms issue with a process that seems fairly universal and means standardisation, at least for my designs when now they all can have a centred/squared foundation as their point of departure. I hope you find it as useful as I really do, there is this one too ruclips.net/video/XeTBROXqjH8/видео.html 🙂
