My ipad 11"pro doesn't have a home screen layout option.

So everytime I download an app, to get it in alphabetical order, iI need to reset my homescreen? I have to delete all the icons I removed before, set up all the widgets again?
There has to be a way that doesn't make me redo all my homescreen. =( More work than it's worth.

I set up my 2018 iPad Pro home screen the way I want it, but whenever I upgrade software, or just restart, all my home screen icons are completely rearranged-even some of the folders have disappeared and the icons are scattered. I’ve searched for an answer, but have been unsuccessful. I don’t have this problem with my iPhone 14Pro or iPad Mini6. Would appreciate any help. Thank you.

Hey, thank you, this was helpful. But I was looking a way to arrange icons freely like in android. In android, you can space them as you like, there can be only one icon in the middle of the screen for example. Is this possible?
I don't think that's possible on the iPad unless you "hack" something together... for example, make the background black, then make many black bookmarks (so that they are invisible) except the icon you like to see.
