Great video. Learned a few new things. Here’s another one: you can also drag an app folder on to the dock. It’s a very handy way to get around the four-app limit.

Thank you. Moving apps is not as precise as you show in general. Moving to another screen often reshuffles existing apps and it’s often a juggling process. Wish they would find a way to customise app positioning in a virtual screen then go live. Also this would be useful if you have to go through the same thing with iPads.

It's almost 2022 and Apple STILL will not let you put icons where you prefer on the home screen. At this point all I can assume is that Apple loves to jerk us around. I have to admit though, that you blew my mind with that "group dragging and ordering" scenario!!

For years, I have been lost on my phone. And hate to ask someone since everyone is so busy, and if you ask the answer will be given in a couple of seconds with: 'do this, and then this," as they zoom around the screen and finish with "there, wasn't that easy"?. Thank heaven to find you. And, you speak English and talk slowly enough to grasp what you are saying! I have subscribed, happily, and look forward to learning from you. I am also going to tell my friends about you!

One additional technique that some of us have found useful is the following. If you want to move an app across multiple Home Screens, and if you have an empty space in your Dock, move the app from its original Home Screen to the Dock, then swipe until you get to your destination Home Screen, then move your app from the Dock to that destination Home Screen.

You are not limited to 4 apps on the bottom of your iPhone, you have 4 placeholders. If you combine apps into folders as you suggested one can do, you can move a folder to the bottom of your screen to occupy one of the 4 placeholders giving you options for more apps that show up on all screens. The 4 on my phone are the Settings App, Phone folder(which includes the Phone app and shortcuts to connect to certain people I call all of the time), Google Apps folder(with - Drive, RUclips, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Classroom, Google Keep, Gmail, Assistant, Meet), and Apple Apps Folder (with - Contacts, Messages, Facetime, Mail, App Store, Reminders, Facetime, Find My, Watch, Tips, Calendar, Shortcuts, and Support,)

    you’d think a third year

i had been organizing them by hand and
whining about how unintuitive it is for years,

To move an icon to next home screen .. a better way is to long press the icon until everything vibrates... then don't move that icon to the edge of the screen... instead use another finger to swipe on screen to change home screen(remember you are still holding you icon with one finger) and let the icon go... it is faster and more efficient

If I let them go only to App Library I will not remember to try them at all :-D

Very helpful. A few notes: (1) When you demonstrated dragging the Wiki icon from search results to a home screen, it didn’t actually land! It vanished! (2) There doesn’t seem to be any way to rearrange icons within the folders, they stubbornly stay in the order they were added. I keep a folder of all the newspapers I subscribe to, and I want to keep the active subscriptions on top. The only workaround seems to be to drag each icon out and then back into the folder which makes it land at the end of the list. It’s kind of like playing that children’s game “15“ (3) I really wish there was a way to synchronize home screens between iPhone and iPad, it is so discouraging to get everything set up nicely on one, and then realize you have to start from scratch on the other.

Gary: It seems like when I add an app to my iPhone 15 pro mix, an icon for that app appears on my wife's iPhone 12 mini, but not downloaded. We both share my iCloud account, and have our own Apple id's. Can you tell me what is going on and how to stop it? Not sure what you have going on. If you have different Apple IDs then you are using different iCloud accounts. But you say you are using the same iCloud account, which means you have the same Apple ID (Apple ID = Apple Account = iCloud Account). And since she sees the apps you acquire, then it make sense that you are using the same iCloud Account. Apple sees you as the same person, just someone that has two devices.
