Gary, your video is so detailed and informative. I really appreciate the systematic and comprehensive manner you use to tackle everything Apple! I always save your videos. I’m so grateful! Happy holidays!
This is brilliant and I had no idea that it existed! It will also be extremely useful on my iPad. Thanks Gary, happy holidays and thank you for all your amazing work during 2021 👏
This information has given me privacy beyond belief…as my granddaughter plays games on my iPad an some time “wonders” from her game to other apps …thank you Gary from across the pond…🇬🇧🇺🇸🇬🇧🇺🇸🇬🇧🇺🇸
Wow, this is amazing. The kind of insights that you give through your videos are priceless. Macmost perhaps is the first place that I look for solutions to all Apple.
Very useful. I think we all know someone we don't fully trust with access to our phones. You know that 'friend' that, when you try to show them a picture, starts scrolling through all your pictures...
My granddaughter is always wanting to play games on my iPad …this option has given me privacy beyond belief…as she “wonders” from games to other apps ….excellent information Gary …thank you from across the pond …🇬🇧🇺🇸🇬🇧🇺🇸
Brilliant Gary, I had no idea this was an option. Thank you for the video. It appears many folks had no idea it was available either. Good job explaining it.
Hello, Gary! Following along here and setting this up as you show, when I open Photos and triple click, I see Guided Access, but when I select it, it does not turn on. You have a check mark when you select Guided Access, but I don’t when selected. I backtracked and rewatched your video and I didn’t miss any steps. What’s wrong?
Thank you very good info, someone asked to use my phone to make a call, asked my question how do I stop him from using all the another apps, (banking) on my phone.
This is an awesome and (for me) completely unknown feature of iOS. Thank you so much, especially for the backtap work-around toward the end of your video.
Great stuff! I made a similar video for parents. We won’t even hand our phones to our kids without guided access on to protect them from porn. My work with guys in porn recovery has scared me to do whatever it takes to keep my boys from addictions. iPhones have pretty great measures to protect kids if you know what you’re doing.
Luis: I try my best to look at the ton of RUclips comments I get and answer people's questions when I can. If you require professional support on demand then call Apple or hire a consultant to help you. As for your question, I just tried it by texting myself from my demo account, and calling myself from another phone. The text didn't show on the screen. The call showed by with almost no information in a small notification at the top and no way to answer. Try that yourself and see.
Thank you so much, Gary, as usual, great stuff. Just a minor thing; on my iPhone (11 pro Max) back-tapping does most of the time not immediately work. Usually, I have to repeat the back-tapping several times to have it functioning. (With or without the protection cover).
Cool! Hoping I really don't ever need to turn my phone over to someone I don't know, but setting this up just in case because to your point... you never know! )))
:) just a reminder to test it once in awhile so the process id familiar when needed. I use it to lock phone to maps when using it in the car so I stay familiar with the guided access process
Hello Gary, I am able to watch this video in 1440p, on my MacBook Air 2017. How is that possible? Are you recording in 2K or some other HD camera? Keep up the great work. Happy Holidays!
Brilliant, helpful video. So much information in such a clear video. As usual the best explanations on all matters Apple. Why oh why does Apple make things so complicated????
This is great! very useful as more and more things end up in our Apple Wallets. Only problem is Guided Access does not appear to be available from inside the wallet app. it is available in all the other apps. any thoughts on this?
Gary thank you so much for detailing these videos for us Apple users. However, whilst I can get guided access to turn on with the triple tap, it appears that I can still move between apps by swiping up from the bottom of the screen? I do get a confirmation that guided access has turned on and yes I do have Face ID turned on, but I am careful to not look at the screen or even have the screen pointing at me when I turn GA on. So I'm not sure how secure my phone is if I (or someone else for that matter), can still move between apps while GA is on. Any thoughts to help me here?
That's odd. I can confirm that swiping up from the bottom definitely does not work while in Guided Access. Check your settings and try it again. Face ID only comes into play when you double-tap the side button.
@@macmost OK great thanks for the reply. I'll will check the settings and confirm GA is on, failing that I'll delete the code and reform it and try again. Thanks again.
What' I like is the choice. If I want it to be.. the iPhone is absolutly wicked when it comes to personal security. Did not know about this temporary locking feature. I do known that if my phone is locked and you don't have the access code "no one" even if they have a Cray computer and 10-yrs (when that sucker goos into tamper proof brick mode it's over. Thank you Gary for a great tutorial.
Something happened with my passcode and it wasn't taking it. In a major panic thinking I was locked into my phone only being able to be used for my car insurance card I searched and found that if you go to another device and sign into icloud and activate lost mode on that device it will lock the phone then you can use your passcode to open it back up. I actually had to turn the phone off and back on again after doing this. I couldn't without the lost mode because the buttons were disabled. If thia happens to you don't panic you can get out of it but you will need the phone and your icloud passwords.
First, Merry Christmas to you and yours. I thought I had heard that at some time in the future, one would be able to place their driver's license and other important documents into wallet, am I mistaken? And second, thanks bunches

Yet ANOTHER excellent video. Thank you!

A very useful video tutorial today! Thanks for the visuals showing us how! Thank you, Gary! 👏👍🏻❤️

this is sooo useful. I wish I had known (or it existed) 6 months ago!!! A heartfelt thank you Gary and have a lovely Christmas.

This is what i was looking for .thank you
Happy to have found you thru a SHORT. Thanks. New sub
Awesome, thank you ❤

Great info. I have an iPhone 8. I have to triple-hit the home button, not the side button.
Thanks Gary for another incredibly helpful video!
Brilliant Gary, I had no idea this was an option. Thank you for the video. It appears many folks had no idea it was available either. Good job explaining it.
Cheers Gary, again something new, which I personally did not know. Appreciate you. Enjoy the Holiday.
Excellent tip to protect your iPhone. On older models such as iPhone 8, the Home button is used with triple-click not the side button.
Really really helpful feature and well presented!

For those of us old school types, like still using iPhone7, the button to triple tap is the Home button at the bottom.
assistive touch don't see it on my shortcuts on iphone 13
can't use quick access when do it goes to apple pay

Thanks for that info. Didn't know that was possible.
Had no idea this was available... Many thanks
Question: if I activate guided access and handed the phone to someone would they be able to see an incoming text message or even an incoming call?
You didn’t answer the question man..

It is very sensitive to the time elapsed between the two taps. Wait just a fraction a second too long as it won't count it as a back tap.
@@macmost Thank you Gary, how very kind of you to respond. Highly appreciated!!!

Definitely works for me in the Wallet app. Just tried it again. Works.

Yes, that's true. But your state has to allow this. Apple has set it up in iOS 15, now it is up to the states and their apps to use it. Several have.
Or it could be your wife 😂
Videos like these make me wonder how people survive on androids...
Too complicated
