This was something I'd realized as well when I started flipping. An alt meant I had 8 more GE slots, which meant I could be way more aggressive about my slow buys/sells.

A couple years ago, I gave a basic alt account a try. Didn’t love it, didn’t hate it. Kept it simple, meaning it was basically an afk skiller. Started simple as a cannonball alt. Later I invested in it enough so that it could also cook, craft & so forth. Depending on what had the highest profit margin at any given time, it gave me options.
Of course, bonds were cheaper then, so it was much less of a time investment for the alt to cover the bond cost before generating profit. Absolutely could easily have branched out into all of the gathering skills.
Long story short … if anybody is considering giving a basic alt a try, while avoiding sweaty endgame alts … multi-boxing an afk skiller as a side project is a great way to determine if alts are for you.

best way to start an alt is buy the cursed goblin staff, and splash till 66 mage in free to play, then buy a bond for your alt and start doing air orbs to pay your bonds, i use one alt account to pay for both my bonds and just keep the money i make on my main. so i essentially get free members on two accounts for minimal effort

bonds are 13mil now sometimes. i used to have 4 accounts but i find its better to just play 1 acc and another game at the same time

I have game notifications setup so that if I fall below certain health/prayer or AFK it will notify me, makes managing alts much nicer :)
Made an alt to eventually dolo Arma with.. ended up just turning it into a 1 def pure, and it's basically become my new main lol. My main is almost maxed, but I hardly play it now. Raiding, and tons of other content on my 1 def is so much more fun and intense than I've felt on my main in years. Would def recommend

Hell yeah brother. I know you enjoy your alts lol, but if you haven't done so before, I suggest making a 1 def pure. Makes every bit of content a bit more dangerous and fun imo. It's not everyone's cup of tea tho... it certainly wasn't something I was ever interested in until I saw a few friends in my clan do it, and then I tried it.

Alts can also be used for bosses that require alot of specs. Even an idle alt whos sole purpose for spec transfer is invaluable for long boss grinds.

I would highly recommend doing quest once you make the account I made a alt when I was getting bored with the main I wanted to see how much levels I could get in 24 hours of game play which was almost 1100 not all quest. Basically wanted speed run. What fuel it even more was getting the Agility pet at level 46 and ranger boots on the first clue. Which was wild

I started with this video and have to stop halfway to go back and watch the back catalog.
I have one alt, it’s just a basic f2p mining alt. It sits in Dwarven mine, mining rune or addy or whatever I need at the time and only leaves to bank, or play league. Nice and simple, makes a little money in the side.
Just finished building 2 alts to do 1+2 Bandos. LOVE it. Super worth the investment and I’m even thinking about making another 2 by summer

I think everyone could benefit from at least having 1 alt on the side, even if it's f2p doing low gp/hr methods. I like to think of it as the alt pays for the main's supply costs so anything I make on the main is pure profit.
This way of thinking is also helpful to get the courage to try new content and not worry about paying for death's coffer xD
I have a dragon hunter alt 😂 I am grinding 99 on my main skilling and just slaying drags non stop for money. 2 is fine I can’t do 3. Ogs!

recently started playing again after burning out making my amethyst alt, now double mining with my main at 99 mining and toxic staff pure/ amethyst alt at 94 if you can survive the possible burn out alts are definitely worth it
Amethyst alt always surprised me, the mining level seems like a pretty huge grind compared to something like a vyre alt which gives more profit. What made you move towards an amethyst alt ?
@@ElysianOSRS was 92 on my main at the time so made the grind for pet and 99 mining a little bit more interesting to click a few more times i burned out at 85 then got 92 about 6 months later. main reason was to dual log rune rocks on main and toxic staff pure to mine and pk the bots and anti pk but amethyst is just chill to dual log and watch youtube insted

It felt like it took ages because slayer with no diaries and minimal quests is horrible to do but I'm glad i finally got a gargoyle alt set up. Gargs is definitely the best low effort cb alt - wyverns take setup and are annoying to do and have a long bank walk, brutal blacks you have to watch prayer and pick up loot frequently, and anything with higher reqs takes too long. With gargs you can full afk and it you miss an alchable or a few bars it's fine your ring of wealth will get all the gold drops, your guthans will keep you alive, and you'll get a couple mill after a few hours with almost 0 effort/maintenance
Yea Gargs and Vyres are certainly the best for AFK and low maintenance. 100% agree
Wyvrens arnt too bad if u are ranging but yea gargs with whip and guthans is def better in the end look into vyre killing its not too bad avg the same if not a lil more depending on bloodshard luck too
And yea bro ring of wealth is so nice I wish we could combine row with another ring after diarys or somthing it would be so awesome to get the effects on like a zerker ring lol but row is def better to use over b ring I at gargs imo
Currently working towards a brutal black dragon alt. Gonna max out my range level on them bad boys, progress to rune dragons for max melee stats, then on to Nex!

I found I only enjoyed using alt(s) when I had a dual monitor set up. Now that I travel for work I find it awful trying to alt on a laptop. I’ve tried anglering or cooking on my tablet on the side but it gets forgotten a lot.
There is a plugin on runelite called picture in picture, that might help with that. I haven't used it that much myself as I have a multi monitor setup. But could be worth a shot :)
I play 2 accounts in 1 screen. I use resizable and transparent click through chat box. Can sit at zeah with main in a tiny box in the corner while my alt plays the league around half screen.

I want to make an alt to duo arma , i love killing kree but its a pain in the ass to get kc and the trip can get over quickly but if i have another account with me i can get faster kills and more importantly much more chill kills or maybe i can just use my alt as food supplier for my main
I can say with confidence, that an alt makes a Kree much more enjoyable and lets you get trips at least 3 times longer 100% worth
Eccu keys friend use both accounts to scout for pkers while you barrage mobs in the wilderness god wars dungeon
In my opinion, stuff like Rune dragon and skilling alts are a huge waste of time and mental energy when in 2023, 15-20m/hr methods exist. Why build an entire account just for it to make a paltry 1m/hr? And rune dragons is only somewhat afk, you still have to frequently pick up loot, eat, and teleport in and out.
I think that depends. Not everyone can access those 20m/pr methods or finds them as enjoyable. Many people still do Zulrah/Vorkath as their main gold earners.
Also check out my top money makers of all time, a rune dragon alt can also be used for methods that reach hundreds of mils per hour if repurposed.
If you want a more afk alt, I think Vyres are the ticket, you can get 600-700k per hour with 1-2 clicks every 8-9 mins.
I believe the idea is that you plant the alt at rune dragons with justi and don't worry about it while you do better money making methods on the main, or go skilling to work towards maxing
@@ElysianOSRS I totally agree with purposing alts towards better moneymakers, I just somewhat disagree with the afk ones that make such a small amount of money. Especially for people who "can't access the 20m/hr methods" since this is going to waste even more of their time. The afk-ness of alting is inversely correlated with how much money you make. For example, 10 vyre alts might make a decent chunk of change per hour, but at that point it's so non-afk that it defeats the purpose, when you could instead play on 1 or 2 accounts and make as much or more. The only exception is if you're stuck doing afk things on your main and so playing the alt is 0 time loss.
At the end of the day it's whatever ppl find enjoyable, but I think it's pretty crazy to prefer making 7m/hr on 10 vyre accounts rather than bossing on 1-3 accounts for as much or potentially WAY more gp. To each their own though.

The logic doesnt add up to tho. Struggling to afford a bond on one account. To add anorher account u have to pay for a bond there everytime as well so i dont see the benefit at all as far as making gold. Can it make tasks and life easier sure but the only real way for it to be good for covering bond costs is to have the alt only make money in ftp which is pretty much worthless as theres no good ftp money makers lol
You'd do better to buy a month of membership to make an account bond making ready than to use bonds to make a bond making account
In the short term yep. But if you can get over that hurdle or as @dawakat08 days invest a month of membership from irl cash into the account. You can get it I to profit ready state. From that point every month going forward it gives you extra profits
Just a fun fact, there's a 650k gp/h method in f2p, smithing rune 2h swords. Too bad it requires 99 smithing!
