- What are the benefits of alting in runescape, and if they are so helpful when should you bother to go make an alt? Alts are incredibly useful for many things, usually people use them to make money on their own, but they can also help you tremendously at bosses, raids, and even some skilling activities. It would genuinely be faster for me to list the bosses that do not benefit from alts rather than list where they are useful, that’s how often you can utilize an alt for benefit (for many bosses an alt can speed up KPH by over 50%).

Was pointed out to me that using your main's house is a far better option than duel rings (was changed after I had 83 con on alt), although 83 construction is still incredibly useful.
OSRS players will really bond and train up multiple accounts PVM ready to avoid having to make friends

I know this is in jest, but the core issue is that doubling the number of players at an activity doesn't ever double the profit or halve the time to a pet etc. The basic equation boils down to:
1) Do a boss for say 3m gp/hr
2) Duo a boss for 4-5m gp/hr split two ways
3) Dolo a boss and earn 4m gp/hr for yourself
It's easy to see why option 3 wins out in the long term. You can replace this argument with average time to obtain a pet and the overall result is the same.
It's not really about avoiding social interaction, it's more like a badly designed game which unintentionally punishes you for trying to be social.

@@Zxv975 This exactly. There's also stuff that people want to use alts for that is just dirty work that your friends wouldn't agree to do for you anyway. Like gwd supply running, alting minions at sara, spec xfering, scouting a raid for you while you're in a solo raid, holding an instance at corp etc etc.
@@selkokieli843 I think a healthy sweet spot is where soloing is an option, but teaming is more efficient. You should be rewarded for team play as the social aspect is intrinsically the core of the MMO genre, but the option for soloing should exist for those who truly want a solo experience.
Don't need that hight of a construction level on an alt, it can use your main's POH, since the POH access has been changed - be friends and in a cc together.
My main problem with alting is that it makes the game less fun. It makes rs less of a game and more of a chore. I'd rather do a less efficient solo method or work in a group.

The best alt in my experience is having a twin brother and you guys play both of each others’ mains when you are not both online.

Alt guides are pretty rare. We need more. Would love to see how Sara and Scorpio are done.
I dolo'd Scorpia a while ago for pet, at around 90kph with low risk.
It's pretty easy. Flank the spawn point so it spawns between the two accounts. Then, just freeze the boss with one account, then attack it with both. It frequently dies before the barrage freeze timer ends, but if it doesn't, you can refreeze and reattack with one of the accounts.
I did find that you need at least a swamp trident on both accts: trident of the seas is too slow to reliably punch through Scorpia's healing.
It was honestly way easier than soloing, too.
I highly suggest having an alt if you have a large afk goal in mind.
In my case, 1st alt created when I was grinding agility to 90 (splashed the alt to 94mage). Then I had a goal to afk train smithing/rc to 90.. Was able to quest whilst doing it. Then, went for 99wc with redwoods - it allowed to grind to quests to DS2, do slayer to 85 and nmz stats. Just recently went from 92mining to 17m xp (pet grind on amethyst) - went to 90-99 range on bbd's with my alt. Atm, building a 2nd alt..
All in all, my main is almost maxed, hence lvling up alts let me try other methods (especially afk ones) or content I would miss due to slow grinds/less time IRL. Not to mention my bank went up from struggling to get a tbow, to 4b atm, without heavy bossing.
I consider making one but since I haven't done MM2, DS2 or SOTE yet on my main, it'll have to wait a bit.
Genuinely just go for it. Sit the main at motherload/barb fishing/redwoods and get to it
@@flawless7019 I just completed SOTE and MM2 today. I'll do gauntlet for a while and I'll get to it on the side. Just like you said. I didn't want to start because I was worried I couldn't upkeep a bond for my second account. Why wait any longer now that I can for sure in a few hours.
My 2 cents on this - I absolutely love the idea of an alt (I have a cannonball one), but I did find even that I felt like I HAD to play it and yeah just felt like a chore as stated in the video
I'd definitely like to try a PvM focused alt though too in the futuee

I did this: Get bored of maxed main, make an iron, use your main as the “alt” doing blood runes. Profit + fun at the same time

I can tell you the way mine started. I got tired of alching on my main for no reason other than xp. I gave my alt all my alchs from pvming and skilling 99s. After a while it was 99 mage. While afking other 99s on my main I put the alt in NMZ for 99 att, str, def and range. Now I'm only 8 levels from maxing my total on my main and I have a maxed alt for PVM when I get back to that grind. I also got 90 prayer because it doesn't feel right being under that to me. Definitely worth the grind and it's fun to experience the game in a way you main may not have.
Alts make summoning seem like a joke.
Hence why multiple log ins used to be against the rules. But that got removed for some reason.
YEAH!!!!!!!!! I don't get the no summoning people, when making alts is just disgusting.... I prefer Summoning if alts are addressed... but hey at least they are throwing money to Jagex...

My cc was confused as to why I was making an Alt Main after maxing my acc while working 12h/7d shifts for 3months. This video perfectly explains my reasoning and was a quick share on our cc discord. Alt main is almost ready! And I've done nothing but AFK and youtube XD

So I've made 3 alts on RuneScape 3 and I had three of them fight the same boss then the alt's gotten really strong to the point they could duo without the main as a tank, the three of them all have maxed melee but the two alts are ranged focused or magic focused because the curruption bleed abilities don't stack so I got them to use different attack styles so they don't override the others bleed effects
I'm currently working on unlocking invention on them because that would give them crystal shield, and venom blood which would cut costs later

Construction isn’t as important as it used to be imo. With the new house update you can enter your mains house if on the same world no matter where your main is. Obviously it’s still slower than tping into your own house. But it’s still fast enough that you could push back the construction grind on the alt if you wanted.
Lot better half measure than duel rings, forgot about this. Still would reduce clicks to have 83 con which matters in a lot of places.
I've been working and building up my main, but I've been seriously considering building an alt the more I think about it. I just want to hold corp instance open lol. It's probably all the better now that your alt can use your POH without you being in it! Thanks for the video.
Now just need to get the alt enough mage for venge... OH and 99 ranged why not, can trade the tbow over to him and have some extra DPS... Slippery slope we slide lol

Alts are hella useful, I remember using an alt to sit and hold an instance at corp for a solid 4 hour corp duo with me and a buddy. Having at least one is very necessary fr.
Short answer. Absolutely YES! I am averaging 30 kills per hour at corporeal beast with 5 of my accounts altogether. Pretty much averaging 15M per hour. However requires a lot of time and effort to get in there….
Love to see the disgusting corp alts, seeing wheelchair at the GE with his 8 corp alts from time to time is always cool

Alts can help out with ironman a bunch too. Even simple things like having an alt hold the tanner in the crafting guild can speed it up massively. Or dolo methods like gotr. Or scouting for a Cox raid so you can skill/gear better. I'd recommend people at least try it out, takes some time to get used to doing 2 accounts to start with but with time you get more proficient.
I believe now it is reccomended that everyone should have a Main, Alt, Pure account. Having HCIM, UIM or Ironman is a bonus.
i love how your 331 hour grind translates to 1 month of play time. 331 hours is close to 5-6 months of play time my guy

I turned my maxed zerk into a main and built a new voider and 60 att piety pure. They're pk accounts for fun but also serve as alts here and there, which is handy. But the game is more relaxing with just 1 max acc

I built up an alt for Rune Dragons and then it was too stressful trying to PVM on both accounts at once. Maybe I’ll try again since I’m trying to learn Bandos 6:0 and it’s much more punishing than Sara when I fuck up…

Have a RC blood zeah alt and a rune dragon alt, I can make 3M an hour minimally on alts, so yes it's worth it
Are you using a special plugin or something for the window in window? The only thing ive seen in the hub is picture in picture and it doesn’t work like that
To be clear: your screen (while playing both accounts) looks like 10:18 and the other clips where you show actual gameplay is just video editing? Or did you somehow actually manage to do both screens like that?

I'm considering how I want to go about my alt account, I've got an account off tutorial island that I sometimes play during leagues while on main doing regular game stuff, but now I'm about to do a lot of afk skilling. Any tips for completely fresh accounts but with wealth readily available?
Rush waterfall/bone voyage, get combat up, get untradeable unlocks, etc. Exact same as you would run a new main pretty much.
i had a whole diff list but here a better one: fish loads of shrimps and cook them until full. go to graveyard talk to the dracula dude free teleport to barbarian village. head in there and do floor 1 for a quick cash grab. head back out and head to draynor. buy chronicle. easy teleports to varrock. now either head to the waterfall quest. or do some smaller tasks etc for diaries. aim for imho lummy free run energys and alchs. and varrock double mining and cheaper battlestaffs.
o and before i forget atleast get 20 agility when u can. even a few levels can help quite a lot.
at 20 i can smith bars/rings in edgeville run on. and never tire even as f2p.

Alts are always useful but only really 'worth' it if you can play more than 2 hrs/day.
Lol. You mean the 0.000001% of players that play less than 2 hrs a day? Anyone playing osrs is on at least 2 hrs a day minimum and I'd be willing to bet many are 4-5hr min

i'm making an alt right now, it already has 90 all melees and 92 ranged, all i need is to get mage up and im gonna go for quest cape on it. I'm not sure what i'm gonna use it for, but most likely just dolo gwd bosses mostly, but still i want it to be well rounded so i can use it anywhere. Its something to do while killing zulrah/vorkath on my main or while watching netflix. BUT i cant understand people using it for money making alone, like i dont know if im missing something, but if you alt is doing something like rune drags, brutal black drags, gargs etc, how can you do literally ANYTHING other than like redwoods on your main if you need to constantly pick up drops on the alt? it would drive me insane.
Yeah, I found rune dragons were a bit too intense while also running another account. Vyres are extremely AFK though, and blood shards are sitting at 9-10m right now, so with just regular RNG you're pulling in around 1m/hr. I'm doing this on the main while I get my alt ready for PVM. That being said, I'm ridiculously un-spooned here, currently sitting on 7.000 kills and only 2 shards. RIP.
Brutal black drags and gargs are actually extremely afk for an alt. Gargs just throw on a ring of wealth for auto coin collection and full guthans and its literally so afk you can forget about it for 15 mins and come back just to reset aggro as your gp stacks in your inventory, and you sacrifice the rune armor and granite maul drops to the hungry noobs around you
those drops make up the majority of GP/h ur basically wasting ur time not picking them up youll probably make more gp mining afk lmfao@@Jaikanatar

Pets are worthless if nobody can see them sitting in your poh forever. Doesn't help that only half a dozen pets are even visually appealing.
I hope the alt meta switch to doing things with Friends again. But sins allot are Irons that not going to happen

Only reasons I see having alt's is for a main backup or a pure or both.

I was wondering. You said that Hydra doesn't benefit from an alt but couldn't you let your alt sit outside the lair and you transfer your loot and supplies to it?
Might be minorly worth trading bones and venging, but would slow KPH a lot

Has various problems, can't keep anything on ground, there is long delay leaving and hopping the step, and have to run bank runs on alt often

Depends I guess, main is pretty fun if you want to do max gear bossing and your iron's quite not there yet. Iron can feel like a chore as well when you're stuck at a boss for a specific drop for example.
