    I absolutely cannot believe it seems quieter than the Y. That's crazy! Can't wait for those stunning Wyoming scenery shots :) Get you an mp3 shutter sound and do an Option F (FCPX) to get a FreezeFrame of the stunning scenery along the way 👍👍👍👍👍👍

      As an owner of a Y I can tell you that it's not a quiet car unless you are driving on brand new asphalt.

      I agree about the Model Y not being a particularly quiet vehicle at highway speeds. I rented a Model Y for a week and found it quiet around town, but somewhat noisy at 70mph.

      Teslas are known for noisy and rough rides. Their goal has been to make them high performance and with superior technology (until they started removing sensors which makes them inferior in that respect, as $20K have them now) and build them quickly and at the least cost possible.
      I'm waiting to see how the Highland and Juniper turn out. I'm hearing they're improving the ride quality and sound proofing, and finally adding a console in front of the driver.

    Looks like a beautiful day for driving. The trip through the gorge was fantastic with all the greenery. Enjoy Nashville!

    I just took delivery of a R1S and don't have any plans of driving further than 6 hours away, so love these videos to see how it goes.

    Great video Dave - thx! EA, EVgo and all the others finally needs to get their act together! I almost hate Tesla because of its fanboys who feel so superior to the rest of the EV world (and I also don’t like the look and build of their cars and even much less the guy at the helm) but I have to admit their Charging Network is light years ahead of all the others - and roadtrip charging experience will be the make or break for mass EV adoption imo.

    • @evdave528
      @evdave528  Год назад +1

      When buying an EV the charging network is just as important as the vehicle features. A serious EV drive will choose the best network to suit their needs. Glad some legacy auto companies are coming to realize they can and should have partnered with Tesla long ago

    EA needs a complete re-do of 90% of their charging stations...sad. Still, slow 'n steady when non-tesla wins the race and stress factor. Hang in there, Dave.

    I understand the power numbers when you say arrival percentage and so on. What I don't understand is when you say we used so and so power average this trip and got such and such overall. I hope you explain that part and what would be good numbers compared to what would be not so good numbers.

    You drove with suspension on High! That's even worse for efficiency. FYI, all purpose & standard height keeps the tires wearing out evenly

    • @evdave528
      @evdave528  Год назад +1

      All purpose mode defaults to that setting, just testing it that way

    • @manuelias86
      @manuelias86 Год назад +1

      @EV Dave is it on auto or manual? You can change the default by pressing any of the heights and next time it'll remember it.
      BTW, it's fun to see your trips 😀

    My recollection is that Rivian Highway Assist does not work on all sections of the Interstate. Perhaps that is why you got the warning to take over? After you get back from Wyoming, really interested in your opinion on Rivian vs Lightning, and why you would choose one over the other. Not going to buy either, just interested. BTW, driving my usual route through town today using AP on my 22 MYLR (I am like your friend Greg(?), I use AP all the time), I got a big red steering wheel on the screen telling me to “Take over Immediately” accompanied by lots of warning noise. Absolutely no apparent reason for this to happen. Was able to immediately re-engage AP. Ideas?

    • @evdave528
      @evdave528  Год назад +1

      Tesla AP is the best there is bar none. The Vivian is a good stable Lane Keeping aid, helps on interstate but won’t work on anything else. Hangs in there well. Ford Blue Cruise is the worst of all of them. Will do interstate but not highways and roads. Gives up without warning sometimes in a curve. More when I get home in July

    • @fpartidafpartida
      @fpartidafpartida Год назад +1

      You don’t really want to use conserve mode unless you really have to. It will wear down your tires more because it disengages your rear tires and you’re on front wheel drive only. Not too bad on straight highways, but not so great on side roads.

      @@shaqdeez1 I get it. I took my Rivian R1S from MN to Key West Florida, round trip. I’m telling you, conserve mode isn’t worth it….unless you absolutely need it, because you might not make it to a charger. I was able to jump from charger to charger just fine in All Purpose and enjoyed the vehicle’s full quad motor capabilities without any compromise.

    Going on a long road trip? Why not charge to 100% at the beginning of the trip?

    • @evdave528
      @evdave528  Год назад +1

      Not necessary, from 80% to 100% takes as long as from 0 to 80%. I reserve high charge states from when I need it to get to the next charging stop
