You can tell Sue loves this car she smiles like a teen getting her first car.

It has an inductive charger under the charger plate you installed. It has it, but the phones slide around easily. However it is there.
On all models? Strange that they wouldn't know if theirs had one.
Yeah they all have them, but it is a huge fail on Rivian’s part and really doesn’t work.
Looks like it was a sponsor, so I guess that's why. But the mag safe aspect of that is great.
I've heard lots of complaints about this but my phone charges just fine it it. Actually I'd like to be able to turn it off sometimes when I'm really pushing the range on a long trip
I cannot that it has already been one year, that’s how fast love makes things go by!
The most impressive thing about the Rivian is how is excels so well on so many different things. It's like 3 vehicles in 1. F150 Lightning is great for work beating, but the Rivian will out tow it, go farther distance, blow the doors off a supercharged Camaro, has air suspension and will travel 5.5" inches higher clearance than an F150 for offroading and a 43" water fording height. It's certainly amazing the capabilities they can pack into one vehicle. Makes me excited for the future.

I could be mistaken, but I believe AM radio was removed from EVs due to the electric motors generally interfering with the AM radio signals.
Now I know how Sandy has such a happy life. Wow!

The rivian already comes with a wireless charger right where that accessory you installed goes. It's not MagSafe but it's wireless so you might want to edit the video.
The Rivian charger is GARBAGE. If you have a case on your phone there’s less than 10% chance it will charge.
@@mikejaeger716 That’s a huge exaggeration. They are not as stable as the aftermarket one that the Munro’s installed, but mainly they work well enough.

It's cool to see that a new brand like Rivian is doing so well with a brand new car and meanwhile Volkswagen has a lot of struggles with EV's after making cars for decades.
Volkswagen has no struggles!The Volkswagen group sold 570k evs last year!
That could quite possibly be from the fact that it was designed from the ground up as an EV.
Is it fair to compare the two since they are so far apart. Running VW with all its subsidiaries, workers unions and management to satisfy is probably 10 times greater.
I like the EV idea for local commutes, but I still think they're trying to copy look and feel of gasoline-powered vehicles. I think a smaller, lighter vehicle is something the public might not embrace.
One caution I have against EVs is the EM fields emanating from the motors. Might be bad for you. Won't know for another 20 or 50 years.
I worry about reliability and durability. I also worry about the manufacture and disposal of these batteries they need. Are we hurting the planet worse, in another way? For that matter, if our emissions ARE climatically significant, might they help keep us warmer if we're actually heading into another ice age? Maybe we were created by the lower animals to run their smudge pots for them, to stave off the cold! "We gave you one job..." says the squirrel.

I’m sure Rivian is listening for improvements. We are getting our R1S this summer and I’m going to incorporate the feedback from Munro Live. Thanks Sue and Sandy for telling it like it is.
Would love to see Munro address more of the issues that Rivian is having with the R1T. It’s clear Rivian could use some additional engineering resources. A deep dive on the phantom drain issues would be a good example. The R1T is damn near the perfect vehicle, just need to work out the kinks.

That totally sucks getting the truck keyed - hope Rivian got a mode that you filmed whoever did it to your car and the police can get them
Rivian needs a sub routine for detection of keying, then sending video to the police, and sharing the location.
If you ever watch "Wham Bam Tesla Cam", keying EV's seems to be way too common. Just got an EV (Ford Mach E 2023) and worry about that because many mustang drivers are also mad about the name

It’s amazing to me that new companies like Rivian and Tesla get so many things right from the beginning vs legacy auto. There software updates are really fantastic. Their batteries and motor seem rock solid

I pulled up to an Electrify America charging station next to a R1T and the young lady who owned it was very happy with it.
I don't think anyone doubts anymore that it's a great vehicle. The issue is can the company actually survive long enough to support them long-term.

they havent put enough miles on it. ours is junk, battery swelled, been in repair more days than we could drive it.

But to the main point I’ve inferred from this line of commentary here and elsewhere, there’s a small cottage industry of RUclips self appointed blogging experts happy to opine that the major legacy makers are in denial of their impending demise, and that when the dust settles there’ll only be one or two remaining. I’m inclined to a different viewpoint, but only time will tell.

I bought a Rivian based on Sandy's take and others. It is fantastic, have owned for 3 months now. One thing I would like is for the heated seats and steering wheel to automatically turn on when outside temp is below freezing. That is the one thing my previous RAM 1500 did better.

Seriously, how can someone like the Munros who are so detail oriented be completely clueless that the truck comes with it's own induction charger exactly where they put the other one. Honestly, the wireless charger was one of the biggest positive surprises when I got my truck. Mainly because so many griped about it in the forums and ended up installing 3rd party options. Mine has worked just about flawlessly. I am pretty certain it is phone dependent though. For my Galaxy Note 8, the wireless charger the truck came with is fantastic.
They didn’t miss it. Did you notice who the sponsor of the video was? They make that aftermarket induction add on. The only difference is the aftermarket has magnets, but only works for iPhone. Also, did you notice Sue mentioned “scratches” on the entrance door? Guess what else TWRAPS makes? You guess it, a PPF strip customers can apply themselves for the entrance.

The Rivian comes with an induction charger, but it gets a lot of complaints for being unstable and not holding the phone in place very well. A small problem with an easy aftermarket solution. I imagine Rivian will eventually fix the problem.

The Rivian does come with an induction wireless power for your phone, it’s where you put your new mag safe charger. Granted the one there doesn’t work very well.

The fact hat they're talking about minutia such as hangers scratching the wood tells you everything you need to know. The truck is great in every other way. I honestly was in the process of ordering one prior to their $20k hike (a year or two ago), but they hiked up the price right as I wanted to reserve the car and so I didn't place the order. This is like a more luxurious/electric version of a Honda Ridgeline. If it weren't so expensive I'd own one. Oh well.

I don't remember the source where I read that AM radio does not work in an EV due to the interference caused by the car's electronics. Worth looking into. Easy test would be to get a portable AM radio and drive around with it on. From an engineer's perspective it makes sense. The electronics are continuously changing at varying frequencies. AM radio is very sensitive in that regard. Great review and many good tips for Rivian to improve their great product.
