i remember being in a king of the hill server and there was a phlog pyro with a pocket medic and lets just say my team wasn't able to leave spawn for long... or at all (WHENEVER I SAW THAT DUDE I WOULD INSTANTLY START RUNNING)
The scorch shit(shot) is actually one of the easiest weapons to use,and you don't even need to directly hit your target to completely ruin them, there's a reason why so many people hate it It's also not the flare gun, that one actually requires skill and is respected(kinda,it's still pyro)
@@cristianovogt5586 its been a while, but doesn't it only one shot light classes if they don't move away from it? and if they move away from the lingering damage they take no extra damage?
If you wanna know why people hate the Scorch Shot? It: Flys faster than the direct hit but has the splash radius of a normal rocket, anyone caught in the blast takes full afterburn, knocks players into the air in a way the basically stun-locks them, explodes on contact with ANYTHING, can explode AGAIN because the flare doesn't disappear if it hits a player directly, mini-crits burning players, can hit the same player TWICE and reset afterburn duration, direct hits on already burning players sends them FLYING, can hit multiple players at once, reveal cloaked spies, destroy stickies, let the Pyro flare jump to access flank routes, AND one-shot light classes because the initial hit, bouncing mini-crit flare, and full afterburn can do more than 125 damage... All at the low, low cost of -3 base damage compared to the flare gun and no random crits which doesn't matter... and Pyro can do all of that... with 1 click.
Any time you see a spy jumping towards the enemy, moving weird and seemingly flailing about with their knife while said enemy is killing them it's a pretty safe bet they're trying to get a trickstab. Sometimes (ie. when on fire) they don't really have the option of running and hiding and their best move is to try to very quickly kill the attacker with either headshots or a trickstab.
For some SFM insights. I can attest to the minecraft thing. anyone that has ever watched Achievement Hunter's older minecraft Let's Plays would be familiar with "Achievement City", the little town they built as the home base for their videos. I remade a very small section of Achievement City in SFM for a video. it took DAYS to build even that little part of it, cause of the manual block placing (tho a little copy/pasting helped). and they don't lock in place like in minecraft, they just kinda float in space so you have to move them so they are just touching each other (but not over lapping cause then the textures glitch out). also since each block is a model, placing hundreds of them was a massive resource hog. RIP to my fps when moving the camera. also, the mutant mercenaries thing is what can happen if you have an animation, then try to copy it over to a new model (literally copy and pasting it over), but don't quite get it right. either by copying movement from one body part of one model, to the wrong part of the new model. or because you locked the wrong parts together. like, you can match movement by taking a new model, and locking ITS bones to the bones of a model that already has animations. say you want to match arms. lock the new arm to the old one, then slide the "zero" slider over, and the new arm now moves exactly like the old one. but if you accidentally locked the new arm to the old leg..... so for his case, he tries to match the player in the clips EXACTLY in his sfm animations. down to all their accessories. its likely he animates the scene with a stock character, then creates the "player character" from the clip with their full load out, then copies the animation over. with hilarious results. lol
The fact he said you need to "aim" with the Scorch Shot is easily the funniest thing I have heard someone say related to this weapon. You DON'T need to aim with the Scorch, it's literally the only weapon in TF2 that rewards you for not aiming at your targets. And it's easily one of the most annoying and overpowered weapons in all of TF2. If you wanna a flare gun that requires aim and precision for your shots in exchange for huge bursts of damage. Just use the normal flare gun. And no, you don't self-control the detonation of the Detonator, it's a weapon mostly used for area control thanks to its splash effect.
that's straight up bullshit. the flares from the detonator only explode upon impact with an object like a wall or the ground in a small radius or explode mid-air by pressing the M2/right click to create a larger explosion. You absolutely do self control the detonation of the detonator to a degree. It doesn't even explode if it hits an enemy directly, it just deals damage and lights them on fire with no AOE explosion.
Well some would argue you don't need to aim with the Stickybomb Launcher either, and I gotta tell you, I'd disagree, but I definitely see where that comes from
@@pabloc8808 Honestly man, I'm not even a Demo man but, to be honest, people that think sticky bombs don't require even a tiny bit of aiming are just Demoman haters. Heck, take a look at all the stuff the Scorch Shot can do for comparing to all the stuff the Stickybomb gives you. Together with the fact that the Scorch Shot can destroy stickybombs which is totally fair.
@@cristianovogt5586 Oh no I'm with you on this, stickybombs only seem unfair for people unfamiliar with Demoman, if you play the class you realize it actually does require skill, unlike the Scorch Shit. But like I said, for people getting demolished (pun intended) by a good Demoman, stickies almost always tend to feel cheap, and I understand where those people are coming from
I do believe the hate towards the scorch shot is to a big part because it is popular to hate it, just like vampires with body glitter have become punching bags. The scorch shot has AOE ignition and an upwards knockback on direct hit, direct hit flares bounce slightly and explode AGAIN when meeting the ground… often next to the hit player. I personally prefer the detonator, because remote detonation/zoning & JUMPING. Or the Flare Gun to annoy Heavies from a safe distance. As for the argument, that burn is free Uber farming for medic: (1) you need a medic close to you, (2) ANY damage received reduces the healing rate of the medigun by idk… lets say 50-75% for a few seconds. Some say you can just find a medkit to remove burn, but there are few places with more than 2easiliy accessible medkits. (also you are an easy flare target rushing in a straight line to the medkit.
There is also the fact you can also flare jump with the Scorch Shot, use it to destroy Demoman's stickies with it, and if you hit a direct hit on a light class, you can basically 1 shot it. All of that with the Downside of doing 3 less damage and only mini crits. Totally fair and balanced.
Wait till you find out about Phlog-Canceling (fancy technique that allows you to break out of the taunt animation of Phlog-crit-activation, gaining up to 2 extra seconds of Ubered *and* Knockback-immune crit time)
