Nail tech here! "Super glue" and "nail glue" both have the exact same active ingredient which is ethyl cyanoacrylate. Some glue just contains more active ingredients than others and it determines the longevity of the hold. So yes, essentially you can definitely use any glue whether it's called "Super Glue" or "Nail glue". It's all in the marketing and is the same thing. I wear press-on's as well and definitely have "super glue".

Yes everyone get on this! Superglue is saving my life. I work with dogs and clean a lot so I’m rough on my hands every day. I also get them wet daily (though I try to keep them as dry as possible). My current set has been on for a week now, and have sustained some nail-ending smacks. There’s no sign of lifting, no bending, no cracking, nothing. Love it!

That is the only glue that has worked for me and my fake nails! No other one has they would pop off the day of application! They have lasted up to 1 week and would have lasted more if I wouldnt have taken them off myself to change the nail color. And I did not have any problems in removing them at all. The glue was easy to come off just soaking them in acetone for a little bit and even 2 or 3 of them would come off easily if i removed them myself. So, I will continue to use this glue!! :)
Hi there. I'm chiming in since I've been getting a lot of people asking over on my gorila glue video if this is safe to use on nails.
Just to be clear, this is not me coming for you in the least.
I will agree that the main component in both super glue and nail glue is the same (ethyl cyanoacrylate). I can see why you would want to use it instead of nail glue, esp. with all the people online saying you can.
Most (not all) nail glue is a diluted version of super glue and contains additives that make it " medical grade" and safe to use on skin. For example, some of the OPI nail glues are only 60% ethyl cyanoacrylate. The more they add in to make it safer for the consumer, the higher the cost.
The cheaper glues are around 95-100% ethyl cyanoacrylate (in which case, yes, it's the same thing). You should be able to pull up the safety data sheet for any nail glue you're thinking about using on line, (and it should state the concentration). If it's not available, I'd steer clear.
The gorilla super glue version can be up to 100% ethyl cyanoacrylate (as is the case with crazy glue . It makes any reaction you might have to nail glue much worse, and there's also a chance to burn your fingers or nail beds if it comes in contact with water. (You can read about it on the gorilla glue safety data sheet.) You also have a greater chance of developing contact dermatitis, and there have been other studies that suggest long term reproductive effects or cancer, but because they aren't peer reviewed, they can't be taken as fact.
Also, the FDA doesn't review nail glue so you have to advocate for yourself. The same goes for lash glue.
Again, this isn't me coming for you. It's me expressing concern because I want you and everyone else to stay safe and healthy. I totally get trying to find a cheaper way to do things. I'm on board for that, so long as there isn't any risk.
If you decide to continue to use the gorilla glue, at least you're making an informed decision to do so, and I won't fault you for that.

Tbh one time I was doing my nails and accidentally spilled the “nail glue” on my bed sheet and it actually ate away at it to the point it charred a hole into my sheet. Idk how either is safe for your skin tbh

I love this method. I don’t care what anybody says. I have tried all different ways including the latest with the Kiara Sky Professional Nails builder gel. I just don’t like it. Glue on has always worked so much better for me. I have used like this but I prefer the three second nail glue. Because it really does adhere in three seconds and it doesn’t come off! But I think you could use any type of superglue and be OK.What helps me also is I use a nail dehydrator first. It just helps me a little more. But otherwise I’m all for what you’re doing!😀❤️

SUPER GLUE ACTUALLY SAVED ME!!!! I used kiss glue and they always lifted and popped off within 2 days and one would pop off every day, it was a NIGHTMARE! I would be out and they would fall off so I would have to sit there in public and glue them back on 😭 I love how they look but I couldn’t stand that or sitting in the chair and paying 50 bucks every two weeks. I use the normal nail glue on my nail and then put a dab of super glue on the fake nail and they stay on no matter what, really a savior.

Taylor Nguyen I’ve been doing this for years. What I do first is cut the length down as far as I can then I’ll take a file and file them to thin them out. (I actually have a nail drill but I’m very careful with it)Then I just use the tin foil method with the acetone and cotton ball like you do when you’re removing gel nail polish. I let it sit for about 15 minutes and it usually comes off pretty easily. Hope that helps!

alexis garcia I barely saw this my phone didn’t notify me! but it will last me a good 2 weeks and if some pop off I just carry the glue in my purse with me in case of an emergency lol I remove them by just biting them off (so cringe, I know) 😅but my nails aren’t really damaged after! They get way more damaged with actual acrylic nails.

Hi! I do my nails like this too BUT word of caution- super glue can cause fungus and bacteria to start to grow on your nails if you keep using it. Kiss has a really good nail glue (the green and white maximum strength version) :)

@@sandyenniss1362 I’ve never heard of nail glue or super glue causing fungus. I think that might be a per person thing. On some it may cause it but it’s never happened to me. But I’ve heard that acrylics also cause fungus and that has never happened to me either and I’ve been doing both for years.

I am going to try a few nails with gorilla glue but also use on others Nailene brand glue to see which lasts longer. I am also going to try using a base coat as glue substitute as many vids on RUclips about this as alternative-I heard you should not use gorilla glue constantly as you can get fungus over time but I feel once in awhile it would be ok. This is just my view of course as to each their own. I also put a primer coat on my natural nail and buff the inside of my coffin nails I got on Amazon to give the bonding of the glue more grip. I spent over $1000 for nails last year so won’t be going back to the salon. I found an article online if superglue same ingredient as nail glue and it is - it’s called cyanoacrylate if anyone wants to look it up ❤️from🇨🇦

@Evie doctors don't use super glue. They use liquid stitch AKA surgical glue. Super glue AKA crazy glue was used to close wounds of soldiers on the battlefield. Make sure you get your facts right before using words as pretty sure.

Nail glue is stronger then super glue for sure I used to use super glue but they come off whiting a few days to a week

if u can get them off with out acetone yes reusable just clean any debris if u see old glue try to remove off back off the nail

Dude! I used the exact same Gorilla Glue! I was told to use loctite super glue, but this is what I had and it’s bomb! I was going to try the loctite just to see how it compared, but the gorilla glue is working very well so far!

you can soak them in acetone or water, they tend to come off after a bit if you use water a lot. I would recommend using gloves when you wash the dishes, if you have them.

Try to keep your hands out of water much as possible when you shower use dish gloves look for signs of lifting so you don't get a nail fungus when you wash your hands dry thoroughly I even put spray rubbing alcohol on my hands keeping them out of water will help them last longer and prevent fungus
But doesn't nail glue give you fungus too?
@@tigress_4393 it's not the glue it's when the nail lifts and liquid water gets underneath the fake nail onto the plate of the natural nail then the fungus can grow

But then you put a top coat over it I don't think the the artificial nail is going to stick to the natural nail as much because you made the surface Smoother by applying that base coat layer,

You put your hands on hot water. You boil tje water first and wait til its warm enough for you, then you soak both hands, and you will be able to take off the nails
