  • In today's video, I tested out three nail glue alternatives I found online.
    Methods used:
    1) Scotch Double Sided Tape
    2) Glue Dots Adhesives
    3) Sinful Colors Clear Nail Polish
The press-on nails are from Dollar Tree!

the clear coat method works much better if you remember that nail polish has a long curing time. so while it may feel dry after a few minutes, it can take up to an hour to harden completely.

You can buy waterproof adhesive tabs for artificial nails. I apply them on my natural nail and then put the artificial nail on top. I find it easier than putting the tab on the artificial nail like the kiss impress nails come. I love adhesive tabs! I use dashing diva nail guard stickers if I’m doing acrylic dip powder. I’ve never tried nail guards with glue because I like the adhesive tabs so well.

@@SarahMarjorie false nails you are using are probably shaped wrong for your nails so the glue does not adhere or touch all over the real nail. Try using good quality clear false nails flexible ones. so you can see right through and know how well they are gluing on and know where they are touching. Then where there is a bubble you can press it down whiles it’s gluing.

I used kds glue for the press on nails, I soaked it off with warm warm, soap & cuticle oil. It took a while, but eventually came off. I filed the extra nail glue off on the natural nails & back off the press on. I would put 1-2 dots of glue & use the tip to spread glue over the nails, so it doesn’t go on the skin. I also heard there’s adhesive tabs that can make the press ones last & fit the nailbed

layering the double sided tape and putting it on your natural nail and on the fake nail helps. It’s been over a week and my nails are still on from 3 layers of double sided tape. It may be a bit time consuming, but the results are worth it!

Check out the NAIL POLISH STICKERS! They go over any press on or salon manicures. Mine stayed on through two weeks of shower, shampoo, dish washing and I won't go back to polish. The KISS NAIL DRESS works the best, for me. They're just AWESOME!

If the article you read was Wiki-How, the double sided tape is supposed to be wig tape, and the base coat is supposed to be not too thick, let it get tacky before attaching the nails, and let your nails cure for 2 hours.

I don't mind using glue but soaking it off tears up my nails too. I just read the idea of coating your nail with some cheap glitter polish first, then gluing the nails to that. When you soak in acetone, it should first dissolve the glitter polish and not your nail. Does that make sense? I'm going to try it.

    • @SarahMarjorie

My way that hv my pressed on last for at least a week,:
    1. Prep nails- clean, push cuticles and file, not long but short, but not too short.
    2) Dehydrate with alcohol on a cotton ball then dehydrate with acetone after.
    3) I DON'T FILE TO ROUGHEN my bed nail, I don't like that.
    4) Sizing - it got to be the CORRECT size that really FITS MY NAILS,this is very important for me to prolong fake nails to stick on.
    5) NAIL GLUE & APPLICATION - I use just regular NAIL GLUE, the one with a brush. Brush on my entire nail bed like how u put clear gloss or basecoat, not too thin not too thick then immediately put enough glue on the inside of the pressed on nails. Pressed it on firmly fitting my cuticle n pressing on non stop for 30 secs and nothing less so no air can get in.
    6) Once all on, I avoid water, lotion or oils. I do this night time then sleep. Only next day I'll put hand lotion, wash hands. Btw if u must, after u put them on, just use alcohol on ur palms avoiding yours nails.
And be mindful---no nail biting, no opening of cans, ur nails n fake nails aren't tools. Wear gloves when doing dishes n be lady like no rough scrubbing, gets? This method works for me for at least 5-7 days. 😘❤️

But the whole POINT here is that nail glue ruined her natural nails. Hence looking for less harsh methods that will last at least a decent amount of time. I’m looking for methods for my partner who’s never used fake/press-on nails but likes the many looks and styles available now (and I do too - her hands are gorgeous 😍) but she also had major problems with [regular] nail glue.

The sticky tabs work better than the glue dots. They are thin and extremely tacky on both sides. I use them on my nail plates and dab a bit of glue around my cuticle and sides as well as on my nail tips. I use gel polish on the tips and cure them (with led lamp) before adhering them to my natural nails. This process was a necessity when I had an extreme allergy to using the gel products on my nails. My nail tips last me about a week and I am not gentle with them.

Thank you I wondered about those options also. Now I have the answer. Then I started thinking... With or without nail tips, you would remove your polish, with no tips, or remove glue with tips. Both require acetone to remove the product. Maybe the acetone removal process needs to be vamped. I remove mine with a bowl of acetone inside another bowl of hot water, hot as you would drink tea. Don't let the bowl of acetone float in it, just enough to cover half of the bowl with acetone. Put a couple of paper towels in the bottom of acetone and soak, rubbing your nails face down on the paper towel scraping off the nails and glue. It takes maybe 10 min because press on nails are thin, not like acrylic. I saw a video using a small dot of polygel to the underneath side and it cured under an led light. The polygel was thick which filled in dips and gaps. Maybe I'll just keep gluing? 🙄

@@SarahMarjorieWell doesn’t that then kind of undo the whole reason to not use regular nail glue that you have to use an acetone soak to remove? You said acetone wrecks your natural nails… I’m confused 🫤

@@rawr6306 you have to soak it for much longer to get the glue off whereas the polish comes off fairly easily with acetone. You can also use nail polish remover without acetone

Hi Sarah! You should try builder gel base/top coats with a uv led lap. 🙂

You’re welcome. I’m new to this method myself. But, I’m using Amelie. I got both the base and top coats together for $7.99 from Amazon.

@@arianicole112But any gel needing UV curing won’t work with opaque nails… or are you saying to use the UV cured builder, cure, then top coat and press the nail into the wet topcoat? What’s the purpose of the underlying builder then? 🤷🏻‍♂️

That ONLY works if the UV light can pass through the fake nail. Unless they’re clear/transparent it won’t work at all.
