I love Spyro 💜💛🐉 Your videos about Spyro makes me always hype. I hope this year 2024 will be Spyro announcement... I feel it... and if this will happen I will probably cry like when was Reignited announcment. However we will see... Febraury is my month so... Yeah I do remember that concept art- it was definately a sign of a psotive outlook on Spyro. Again, that art was done pre-pandemic so its hard to scope out its meaning. But I always knew that Spyro was something that TfB/Activision wanted to work on!
At this point I just want an announcement. Even if it doesn't come out for a year and a half after that, I just want to know it actually exists.

It feels like Spyro 4 "news" is always two steps forward, one step back. I do think that Spyro 4 is inevitable, but WOW can it get here quicker? Lol
I remember when it took ages for Reignited to be announced, then the release date couldn't get here fast enough, lol.

Microsoft wants to be a publisher and go the Sega route stop making hardware and become third-party. the series X is probably their last console plus they announced a few titles leaving xbox and windows PC

I don't care if its a Spyro 4 or a Banjo-Kazooie remake (in the same style as The Reignited Trilogy) I just want 3D plaformers to get more respect and I'm so sick of these lame ass shooters getting too much praise. They don't deserve it. The only good shooters I liked were GoldenEye 007, Perfect Dark, and TimeSplitters. The rest are meh and run of the mill.

Saying fans will be disappointed is a massive understatement. There is going to be a massive backlash if 2024 has no Spyro 4 news. Because people are sick of how much attention Crash has gotten. Tired how Spyro has only been used as a guest playable character. I am actually dreading the idea of no Spyro 4 news at this point. I agree this being the Year of The Dragon is the perfect chance to announced Spyro getting a new game. I really hope this is the year we see our favorite purple dragon make his return.
I'm definetly not tired of Crash getting attention. Spyro fans seems to forget the reason Insomniac abandoned Spyro in the first place, because he as a feral, four legged character who couldn't do much in terms of gameplay variety and couldn't even wield a gun. Which is why they went on with Ratchet.
I agree that I hope we see the purple dragon.
And while I'm also sad at how much more attention Crash is getting, it is worth noting that Crash also went a long time without attention, too. So the attention it's getting isn't undeserved. I just wish Spyro was getting some, too.
That was actually a little inside joke from Insomniac when they said that Spyro couldn't do anything with his hands, the main reason why they had to let Spyro go was because they wanted to untie themselves from Universal. @@KennethMoreland
@@GayLPer I still find it odd how after It's About Time, Spyro got no new announcements. Like, I had thought Spyro would get some announcement in 2021 and 2022 but nothing. Just Crash stuff. I love Crash Bandicoot and always will. But it feels off to me that Spyro has only had guest star appearances when he's much deserving of a new fourth game by now. I'm hopeful 2024 is the year Spyro finally flies back into action.
@@KennethMoreland Honestly, I think if the market is oversaturated with anything, it's guns. There's like three million games where you can wield a gun. I kinda just want one where you can glide and a breath fire.

I love the way you break things down. What I'm inferring from all of this is that Spyro MAY return this year, he may not. But what we do know is that TFB are definitely doing something behind the scenes. If we know anything about pattern of history of both TFB and Activision, they both tend to love releasing or announcing new things during either milestones or something significant to said title. This states to me that I can believe in what I know, but I shouldn't expect it 100%. Things are always bound to change.

I know some people think its a Little slow at times but I want to make sure that everyone is on the same page. I treat videos (like this one) as if someone who visited the channel for the first time. As if maybe they are not up to date on all the theories and possible directions this could go. But also as reminders because some people have problems recalling certain details!

If anyone does criticize or disagree with the angle you’re going at this, I promise they won’t quit watching your videos. I haven’t really seen a channel that breaks down speculation on release dates and goes into so much details sometimes about things I would’ve never thought of. I love it!

Even if we don't get a game this year, Toys For Bob should most definitely make a public announcement that a game is in the works.
As soon as you said that 2024 was the year of the dragon, it made me feel that there was NO WAY they couldn’t do SOMETHING to celebrate Spyro in quite a big way. I mean c’mon, the third game is LITERALLY called that. So marketing-wise, this year would be the perfect time for them to release a game, or something.

I mean realistically speaking. Spyro 4 is coming. We all know it. My only hope is that they do enough with it to make it feel fresh and new. I don't exactly want just the same gameplay loop and mechanics reskinned in a new area and story plot. Theres gotta be something actually fun and interesting to shake up the gameplay loop. We've had the spyro trilogy for 6 years. They gotta do something new to make it even worth while.

I wonder what they will do next? There's a diversity of Spyro fans out there (OG fans, LoS fans, and Spyro Period fans) to please. I would like to see them keep OG style as a platformer but as some who did not play but watched gameplay of LoS, I think some of the lore there could flesh out Spyro and show how multifaceted his story can be/is!

It's worth believing in Spyro, it doesn't matter if Spyro 4 does or not release in 2024. Even though the platinum trophy in Spyro 3 Reignited Trilogy does says "Party like it's 2024" on the PlayStation, it's also worth being patient since Spyro 4 was hypothetically at works from TFB before Christmas 2023.

If Spyro 4 entered development extremely recently then what I don’t understandis why they were constant teasers as far back as like 2020, especially with an extremely reputable leaker leaking its existence back in March 2020. It was thegamingrevolution Who had a perfect or at least very accurate track record. When they initially leaked the a new Spyro game. Was in the works and not to expect any info until 2021.
I have long believed Spyro 4 been development for years at this point, and has just been delayed, with Crash Team Rumble being prioritised to give it more dev time, Not to mention the constant teasers since the art book thing. There’s also Beenox, I still think they have a hand in this because of how quiet they’ve been.
In the end, perhaps the long wait to Spyro 4 will be a good thing; just think of how beautiful the worlds will look in UE5! Here's hoping we at least get some kind of announcement this year.
Fun to speculate but i was so disappointed in the 25th Anniversary that i have no expectations.
Whatever happened, confused me too.
I think a clear problem right now is that even if plans ARE there, it's clear Activision like putting all their eggs in one basket right now, nearly all the developers were moved over to Call Of Duty, hence it taking over 2 years behind schedule for Crash Team Rumble to come out and even then being made with a shoestring fraction of Toys For Bob's unit.
Great work as always, CGE. I'm hoping this video message creates the snowball that leads to an announcement as well. Fans seem to be growing more disappointed with every new Crash item announced.
Spyro was my childhood hero and my childhood favourite games. I have completed reignited multiple times and am now teaching my girlfriend who is relatively new to gaming and completely new to Spyro. She is loving reignited and especially Ripto's Rage!
I would loooove for there to be a new Spyro title to scratch that unscratchable itch that we've all had for sooo many years.
I will be absolutely gutted if there is no announcement or no game at all but we all know, like you said CGE, that there will likely be hypothetical development underway.

I think I would cry if I saw an announcement for Spyro 4 this year. That would round out my "game franchises I love that I've been waiting forever for a sequel for". Dragon's Dogma 2, Fantasy Life i.... Spyro 4 would just make my year!

It seems when it comes to Spyro, there is always a pattern about news about the fourth game and news about the other projects from Activision.
Well, now that the bought from Xbox is done and Bobby Kotick is out, Activision can rearrange their own calendar of releases and not fall under strict orders and instead let their studios choose when to release their games.
I know this may sound repetitive, but I really wish Spyro 4 is happening. Of course there's the possibility that it may come this year or not, but TFB is surely preparing something for it behind, like an announcement or reveal of any kind.
Whatever it is, I hope it can put the fans to rest and breath in peace, knowing Spyro is still here, awaiting to return.
Unfortunately that likely won't change, judging from how Microsoft handled other projects they will have the same general results. Bobby might be flawed but he is just part of the corruption, there should be more high level corruption that want the same flow as he did.
I am hoping Spyro 4 would be a continuation of the 3rd game. With all the returning characters. The story doesn't necessarily have to start right after the 3rd game. I would love to have Elora & Bianca to be more involved in the story. Possible playable parts in the game? Story wise as long as the story is good & has continuity from the previous 3 games I will be vary happy. Look wise I love what they did with the character models & world in the reignited trilogy more of that would be great. I am sure the game and world will look amazing on Unreal engine 5! Can't wait!!!!!
Absolutely this, though do keep in mind that UE5 would look fantastic for games that realy on visual realism while games like Spyro don't need realism, but rather toony and fantasy-like as it was presented in Reignited. I'm not saying they can't improve it, but I'm not sure how "amazing" it would look compared to Reignited, but there's a lot of other engine improvements that can provide a better-running game at least.

Time ago, you theorized that, if TFB was busy with Crash 4, Vicarious Visions (well, before being absorbed that is) was busy with Tony Hawk's, then probably Beenox was taking the lead.
Soooo... what if, while TFB was busy with Crash 4 and CTRumble, Beenox was taking care of something behind the curtains?
After all... we don't know how old the photo of them experimenting on UE5 is either.
Exactly I think Beenox is the primary developer, although TFB is most likely providing support.
I hope this, really hope. I can’t stand the thought of having to wait another year for a Spyro game. 6 years is long enough and it honestly should be released this year. Ik covid really halted everything but stuff is going again and ppl have developed ways to work around it too, so don’t underestimate the possibilities companies have, hopefully they have had the ability, resources and workers to get this next game out this year!!! Each year passing when it was speculated to have a new game those years, is getting really old. Still can’t fathom why the crash rumble was next, there has been a total of four console games and one mobile game (now closed) and Spyro is still at one game. Maybe they should focus on their full audience, it would make a lot of consumers happier not to mention a steady flow of cash from all sides, just saying. Crash has had its own raw deals in the past but so has Spyro, it can trying to be a Spyro fan 🗿 we’ve had less satisfying games, yes I’m a Crash fan too but I’ve been way more satisfied with the different titles on a whole. Sorry for the rant but phew 😮💨 it just sucks that it feels that Spyro is just an afterthought, especially with such banger gameplay just like Crash having it’s unique banger gameplay.

I've commented on a couple of these videos about how I think a lot of the hints for Spyro 4 are just misinterpreted joke tweets or big stretches, but I'll fully admit that the "You Gotta Believe" tweet is the first one I can't readily dismiss. Even I'll admit it's hard to interpret that as anything other than a deliberate nod to the want for a new game.

It would make sense if Spyro 4 was released in 2025/2026, because in the past, the "original Spyro 4" was released about 1-2 years after Year of the Dragon. If Toys for Bob is trying to recreate/emulate that, it would make sense to me. But delaying something a LOT of people are hyped for really does hurt the community.
Toys for Bob has been working on something since 2020 and it's not more content for Crash Rumble. It's safe to say it's Spyro 4 given how much love he's been receiving such as making appearances in all the crash multiplayer games.
As you said the title is just enough. Else it would be too many years of frustration.

Okay, I take back my last comment on not changing too much on Spyro. Hear me out, what if Spyro went a little more into open world exploration? I think the portal system is important but what if the main world hub had even more exploration? Like breath of the wild but you know, spyros twist. I think that would be great! I still think they can keep those platforming elements while bringing in something new.

Something should happen this year; otherwise, the reviving of the official Spyro Twitter doesn't make sense. It would be too soon for that, if the announcement will be in 2025
I just appreciate the trilogy remake. Playing the spyro trilogy with my kids n watching my kids get frustrated in the same time trials i did as a kid brought me such joy. It was a really cool bonding experience to see how similiar me and my kids are 😂😊
I mean... Considering that Beenox and TFB both worked with Spyro related content after Reignited Trilogy... Is it a bit of a stretch to believe that blackboarding has been on track at both studios for the past 6 years or so?
How awesome would it be if those promised bonus modes and extra challenges in the reignited (that were never delivered) were finally added with the news of Spyro 4. Moreso if said news was dropped inside of the additional content, like how Crash had a Spyro 1 demo.

Honestly I'm one of the more pessimistic ones, I believe it may have been to keep the audiences attention for Crash Team Rumble or was in the works and then cancelled. They've been dropping hints for 3 years.

With Activision now under Microsoft/Xbox, and with Bobby Kotick out, I believe Activision need not be so stringent with development and release cycles, patterns, and behaviors as they typically have been before. In August 2018, Spyro Reignited was delayed by less than 2 months, which has been a highly unusual move by Activision at the time. They need to break more norms under new leadership. Activision needs to let their studios decide if and when they are comfortable announcing the development of new games, not Activision themselves. Assuming Spyro 4 is in development, they need to let Toys for Bob make the decision to announce it.

I’m not gonna lie, with the polar in the teaser image and having grown up on Skylanders games. I can’t help but see that as either a skylanders pause menu, or a skylanders end of level menu. Who is your mom has also been very vocal about wanting to get back into Skylander stuff

Honestly I love the classic version of Spyro and I love how they gave him his remake trilogy a while back I felt like I was back in my childhood all over again. However I get kind of upset sometimes how the modern Spyro keeps being forgotten so much. don't get me wrong I really want Spyro 4 to come out this year or even at least get announced but classic Spyro is like classic sonic to me Both classic characters respectfully has bing given new games based upon the way they used to play just re-amped and better. But I honestly hope that nobody forgets the modern Spyro too I miss cynder and Ignitus and the rest of the guardians they deserve to at least have their remake as well. The potential on remaking the gameplay to match the story better would be perfect 💜 and I hope that whenever a Spyro 4 comes out it might hint towards it somehow.
Honestly, the idea of a Spyro 4 scares me, as someone who got into video games because of OG Spyro. Toys For Bob have been incredibly irreverent of the IP, first with Skylanders, and then with the Reignited Trilogy…I feel like I'm the only person who hated what they did with Reignited - you could say it was the same games with a graphical overhaul, but I disagree, Reignited felt to me like it lacked the SOUL of the originals, mainly with the painfully generic sound effects and the lack of little details that pulled the whole world together. For example, did you know that in OG Spyro 1, each of the five clans are a different race, each with their own distinguishing features (Artisans are lean but generic, Peace Keepers are bulky and have spots, Magic Crafters have double horns, Beast Makers have curled horns and are bulky but lack spots, and Dream Weavers have pronounced oval scales)? And did you also know that in OG Spyro 3, each of the hatchlings bears the features of one of the five clans from the first game, with the exception of a few super-special hatchlings that are a whole sixth race? Because Toys For Bob sure as heck didn't notice! There are other details like that too, things Toys For Bob just didn't realize were so integral to what made the original games so good.
TL;DR Reignited was all style and no substance.
Now, with that said, a brand-new Spyro 4 wouldn't have a better version to compare to, so it would probably be good to everyone but the pickiest Spyro snobs (like me), but I just wish Toys For Bob would stop bastardizing my beautiful baby boy. But hey, if it's going to take that long to come out, it'll probably be PS5-only, so I won't be getting it, so it's whatever.
Its totally bs that Crash gets 3+ games back to back before Spyro even gets considered for a fourth game.
I think it's possible Spyro could be one of the things being tested in UE5, but I think it would be for a possible Spyro 5, not 4. The engine was released to the public not that long ago, and Spyro 4 coming this year would mean it would have to have been in development before then. That said, UE5 Spyro would be really cool to see.

I remember seeing the same tweet last month about them using unreal engine 5 to make the game which got me excited because of how good unreal engine 5 and it's not because of the graphics. Its mostly about the amount of features that unreal engine 5 has that will benefit the game a lot.

Surely Spyro 4's development would've started in 2022 at the latest, once Rumble's development was underway. Especially considering Rumble's development team wasn't that big.

Everything else they leaked in that announcement turned out to be accurate, although they thought that the info they heard about crash 4 was referring to wrath of cortex. So they still got accurate info there, they just misunderstood it.

@@maxkozak9702 Yeah, I don’t understand why the game would’ve only gone into development 6 months ago if it’s been teased since 2020. Surely by mid 2021 when the pandemic had calmed down, they’d be back at it with pre-production on the game, then by 2022, it would be in full active development at the same time as Rumble.
I figured Crash Rumble was a micro transaction game (looked it up - it is) so they will just keep releasing updates for that for years to come. So this would be a pleasant surprise, but any small remaining hope after reignited trilogy is already gone. (Edit - to be clear this is all my opinion)

Always appreciate the news update! Unlikely, but thematically it would be awesome for the announcement (or even the game as unrealistic as it is) to be here in the year of the dragon. Perhaps it was meant to be but like you said got pushed back like rumble did. Here's to hoping! Regardless of however long it takes, I'm sure Toys For Bob is going to wow us with another masterpiece!

Its already been clear to me this is going to be a long wait. However, I'm fans with another dragon franchise where we're quite used to it - Dragon's Dogma. Let me put that into perspective with the time, the original Skyrim release came a season sooner, just a few months apart. That's been two console generations, all of those re-releases and memes, etc. Guess what's finally coming out in a couple months, after more than a whole decade later? The sequel. We've got the power to wait. Its hard at times, and its not fun, and its such a tease when we see other series like Crash is getting pumps of new content after we just sat with a remake, but it'll all come out okay. I think they heard us by now, and we know we're getting a new game, its just a matter of when and waiting for that to come.
Now the real thing I dread, especially if it is confirmed to be this early, is looking on it as a PlayStation priority guy. The fact they're likely still so far out means there's no chance they have a strong PS format established and too ready to toss. Whelp... now they're on the idea board as a fully Microsoft underling team, and I'm very bitter about the idea of Spyro being kept out the gates of his home place. Maybe PC will be prioritized sooner than it was with the trilogy, but even then, I don't have the greatest hopes, nor is that my ideal format to play it on. I've bought Reignited on all platforms I own - Switch, PC, PS4, but still prefer the PS4 side out of all of them, and have no Xbox to even attempt a purchase on if the future on Spyro goes bottlenecked down that route. I can only cross my fingers and hope it gets the Cuphead/Outerworlds treatment more so than a Hi-fi Rush treatment, or worse... something like Rare Replays that doesn't even see PC.
If you want to get technical, Shadow Legacy was the last original title in the OG canon, not A Hero's Tail. But I think a lot of Spyro fans would just as soon forget that game ever happened.
I might have said this before but, what I would like to see in the next Spyro game is that Dragon becoming a biped, which means gaining the ability to do some boxing which is perfect for motion controls.
i had a dream of a spyro game recently. that it was some kind of time travel game where he had to fight his old enemies with his past self. this was because a new enemy went to the past and powered up his old enemies to make an alt future ran by the vilians
Using a quote from Spyro 1 and having a screen shot from spyro 3, 1 + 3 = 4, meaning Spyro 4 teaser right there. Easy deduction.
The Fact TFB chose to include Spyro characters in Rumble over Fan-favourite Crash characters who are still absent - Nina's been teased since Crash 4 - Makes me think TFB have plans for Spyro... either that or they're reusing models.
I definitely agree that Spyro 4 news should come in 2024. I do have one theory though. In a Crash 4 concept art book there was a picture of the future levels (I haven’t played Crash 4 yet so I don’t know what those levels are really called.) which shows a holographic image of Spyro with the text “Spyro 4” next to it. There was even a comment from someone on that page saying “A little tease for Spyro 4.” Do you think Spyro 4 might have started development after Crash 4? At least as a side project to Crash Team Rumble? I assume Crash games including spin-offs probably take less time to make than Spyro ones given the bigger levels and gameplay types, which might be why Reignited Trilogy got delayed.

Nah I think they planned for "Spyro 4 - Return of The Dragon" to be released in 2024.
They planned way in advance since Reignited Trilogy & yes they wanted to announce last year 2023 trailer but ran a Little behind because of pandemic so they had to make filler games CTR & Rumble 2x Crash games in a row that featured Spyro to keep the hype. Trust me, they were brainstorming ideas since Reignited then started development in the next 2 years or sooner. They were working on this Big project for a long time with Crash 4 guys with many bumps in the road. Look at the level design semi-teaser in Rumble... They probably need another 6 months for final, touch-ups & public critique fixes after we see the trailer soon. I think this is why Paul asked CGE what other game would he like to see happen... is because they're almost finished with Spyro 4 & want to start brainstorming more ideas for the next project(s). They will be announcing the trailer early 2024 & towards the end of the year around Christmas time will release the game which will blow our minds. They made a very bold statement saying "You Gotta Believe" & Reignited which a Big teaser saying "Party Like its 2024" which was Not in the original Spyro 3 Year of The Dragon PS1 game. This is a professional massive team guys. Who knows maybe new ownership could have helped to seed up development process with team size extension. Save my comment, I know I'm right!

I’ve always thought that the platinum trophy for Spyro 3 on PS5 being called “party like it’s 2024” was the proof we needed. It’s been too long, it’s time for a new Spyro game!
Honestly at this point. I think it's coming. However personally if it's announced mid 2024 I'd not mind. And have it released in 2025 in q1. Obviously they are 100% working on something. However I feel like we deserve an announcement or something indicating that it exists.
I just want to know that they are cooking something for spyro and if they are cooking we should let them cook as much as it needs to.
Our boy has been pretty neglected compared to Crash. Not forgotten, but the imbalance at this point to me feels really off, even if Crash is technically a stronger IP. 2024 being year of the dragon AND how high fan tension is for a new game (since crash has gotten 4 new games since its remaster) is a no-brain opportunity to schedule for a release. I feel like an announcement is the minimum, or I'll kinda forget about a Spyro 4 happening.
