I always add this to every review because moist do not know about her in this performance. She was suffering from severe Pneumonia. She was told by a Dr. just a couple of hours prior to her performance, "Not to SPEAK" at all, but she pushes on and does this. You will notice her tongue being extra white, due to her illness. So she had weak ;lungs, and a bad throat, and still sing an amazing, what I call PRODUCTION, not just a song. It was a huge production. She is so much a professional.

I very much agree with you- It's not only her amazing vocals that captures me,but I also get a whole other level of respect for her by her professionalism and discipline. As i think i mentioned, a voice and especially range does not stay like that through years of singing without self discipline and constant maintenance and training.
The definition of auto-tune should not be used when you talk about sohyang. Kbs just edited it, turned her resonance down and removed parasitic noise. But it is exactly 99% as an original live version which is recorded directly by phone and even better than what you have already listened to. Morever, sohyang have never used auto-tune because it just worsen her voice.

You are the perfect audience for Sohyang. She sings to connect with her listeners, not merely to entertain or impress. This rendition of Your Raise Me Up does reflect the evolving Sohyang in her ability to take musical elements to make any song her own and inject her spirituality. I don't know how a regular person not be affect by her magic. Not sure if you already saw her epic cover of Bridge Over Troubled Water. And I put her in the Vocalist category, and not just a singer. Yes I started a sentence with the word And, so grammar nazi's stay away...lol
actually you're not wrong about the "autotune" type of sound. It's the pitch correction software that these shows use. But of course sohyang still sounds amazing without it.

Philip Yeung: Given the emotional impact, “Everyone”, “Hug me”, “Where are you” those are way higher than this. i get goosebumps even when thinking about them. this song didn't have any impact on me before at all. but this rendition feels like it's telling the song's meaning part by part very clearly. and SoHyang's usage of techniques are crazy here, it contain lots of best parts (belts, runs (even RnB style one), fast transitions )) from her previous performances. And low register of full-lyric soprano aren't supposed to be this rich but here So Hyang displays how developed her low register now. also she's changing her style and trying out a gentle approach using silence to intensify feelings, she'll be able to do wonders with that in the future. for me this showcases all of her abilities in one go.. but I totally agree with you on the emotional side of the performance.
Hehe, no autotune, IS2 does do pitch corrections in broadcast video versions if necessary. Those are not really needed for someone like Sohyang though, most of the time.
