I feel that Goten is similar to Frieza, in that both had immense power with little to no training. Granted, Goten did train with Chi-Chi for a time, and that is when he first reached Super Saiyan. But, such training was rudimentary compared to what Gohan went through. Goten has benefitted greatly from the increase in power Goku had between Gohan and his birth. I think that, if trained as seriously as Gohan was, Goten could easily surpass his older brother, and indeed even Goku. Goten's never really been in any moments of extreme emotional distress that would result in a half-saiyan rage boost, but the possibility is indeed there.

Ok listen up. Goten may have achieved super saiyan with minimum training but keep in mind not only did chi chi train him, but he also sparred with trunks from time to time and it is stated that having a sparring partner shows better gains. And here’s where your wrong. You say that goten has similar potential to frieza because he was so strong with almost no training, but that’s not the case. Like I said he spared with trunks and was trained by chi chi even if it wasn’t a lot it was still something. Also there is something called s cells which is required for a saiyan to transform. The reason why goten is the youngest super saiyan is not because he has more potential than gohan, but because he has more s cells than gohan had when he was. So goten even when training seriously wouldn’t easily surpass any z fighter. It wouldn’t be easy but he’d eventually surpass the humans and piccolo, but he wouldn’t easily surpass goku or gohan.
@@xv2player511 hes already stronger than the humans it can be argued that goten could have more potential than gohan since he turned super saiyan from sparring with chichi someone thats weaker than a saibamen to add to that he is the youngest ssj therefor if he were to get his potential unlocked by the elder kai the he could surpass gohan
@@blueicarus6069 your wrong. Yes he did turn ssj very early on with minimal training, but that’s because he had more s cells than gohan had. And s cells are the cells required for a saiyan to obtain super saiyan. Now due to the fact that people believe goten was conceived by chi chi during the rest period before the cell games goku was still in super saiyan as it was his goal to continue to stay in the form. Which means that he got chi chi pregnant while in super saiyan meaning that s cells were active, the baby which would turn out to be goten would naturally have more s cells than gohan did as goku was very far from having s cells around gohans birth. Other than that he has regular hybrid potential and due to the fact that he hasn’t trained as much as gohan and wasn’t on gohans level during the buu saga, even if he got his potential unlocked he wouldn’t surpass gohan though he’d be close to gohan in super saiyan. Other than that he doesn’t have a chance of surpassing gohan until he puts in the time and actually trains.

Not really. Super Saiyan is based around inherent potential rather than training due to the usage of S-Cells.

The Annilators Goku was ssj when goten was conceived meaning that goten has more s-cells (the cells necessary in order to go ssj) than Gohan
IN MY OPINION..... Goten by far. If he actually took training and fighting serious he would be a huge threat by the time he becomes a teen. Became a SSJ like it was nothing. Gohan blew his chance after Cell games. After defeating Cell he should have trained under Vegeta to gain that cutthroat mentality. Maybe it's just me but he seemed "soft" ever since.
No. It’s been three years since you’ve said this so maybe you’ve changed your mind, but you can’t blame it on gohan the writers made him like that since the fans couldn’t stand the fact that goku would be gone forever so they dropped the “Gohan as a main character” idea and brought goku back. This once again is the only reason gohan fell off like he did, because the fans just couldn’t accept that goku was getting stronger to defeat every opponent was getting old it’s been happening for like two decades of goku. Also goten does not have more potential he might even have less. Your mind has probably changed considering your comment is 3 yrs old
@@xv2player511 Actually Goten does have more potential than Gohan, same with Trunks. Goten and Trunks are born prodigies, they achieved Super Saiyan at age 7-8 while Gohan had to train in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber with a Super Saiyan Goku and pass his limits while it came naturally to Goten and Trunks. Akira Toriyama also stated Goten and Trunks have more S-Cells than the rest of the Saiyans, being Goku, Vegeta, and Gohan. Proving my point in why they have more potential and superior genetics to Gohan.
Yes, Gohan has been portrayed badly for most of Super and that’s changing now with the upcoming movie. But that’s just Gohan falling behind with Goku and Vegeta by becoming a Scholar and putting his family first over training. Then he trained with Piccolo for a year and jumped to a Super Saiyan Blue Goku level. But this has nothing to do with Goten’s potential, Goten and Trunks rarely trains since they rather have fun in life and Chi-Chi forcing Goten to study being another issue. If Goten and Trunks trained like how Gohan did with Piccolo or trained constantly like Goku and Vegeta, their power would surpass Goku, Vegeta, and Gohan. They’re genetically superior, prodigies unlike Goten, and have more S-Cells than the other Saiyans. Goten and Trunks were born without tails which plays in part with their S-Cells, they’re considered “higher breeds” of Hybrids compared to Gohan.
I know there’s Gohan fanboys out there who won’t accept the fact that Goten and Trunks surpass Gohan in potential by far, especially Goten. The facts are there and there’s no denying it.
I personally think goten has a lot more potential but he’s more like his dad in terms of personality. #Goten
Goten will have the most potential out of the 3 hybrids because Trunks(present) eventually will take over Capsule Corp taking away from his training time. Gohan will just slack off when times are peaceful. Gohan actually will slack off the most. Trunks becoming a CEO will just slack off due to CEO responsibilities. It is sad that Present Gohan , Goten, Trunks have all the mentors and technological equipment available and they still are relatively crappy.

Trunks is the product of the Saiyan royal bloodline. Vegeta had a powerlevel of *OVER NINE THOUSAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAND!* before pubescence, while at Goku's as a late teen was less than 400. As an adult with mundane training Vegeta's powerlevel was around 18,000 while Goku barely managed to defeat him by having multiple, if not tens, of Zenkais, being trained by literal gods and using an unnatural technique that quardupled his power. Unless if somehow Goku's genetics were more compatible for hybrid vigor by mixing with humans than Vegeta was, or if powerlevels are somehow epigenetic, then Trunks would have an overwhelming advantage at birth.
Goten isn't like his dad, he just wants to have fun, but I wish he got that drive for fighting

It's actually logical that Goten and Trunks got SSJ at such a young age. We have to realized Gohan's potential is NOT his unique thing. All Saiyan human hybrids have it. Gohan got it at a later age because Chi Chi held him back. Future Gohan never tapped into his potential early because after Goku and the Z fighters died there were no mentors around, 1senzu bean left, gravity room destroyed, and harsh surroundings. Goten fortunately was not held back by his mother and actually trained with his brother sometimes helping him. They were also closer to the Z fighters which helped him a bit at early training stage. Present Trunks has his father who now actually trains him better than with future Trunks (but he's still very half assed in training Trunks), he has a big plus with the gravity room available 24/7, he is also closer to the Z fighters which benefits him at early training stage. He also learned Kamehameha wave from Krillin and wolf fang fist from his mom's ex boyfriend Yamcha.
#goten because if he put in as much effort as gohan did he could probably be stronger than goku.
have you seen the latest DBS episode? That would take Goten over 50 years to at least reach blue or red with the right training
Xion Bagel True but the fact that he could become stronger than Goku in a way shorter time span seems too out of the norm. Thats why Caulifla's progression wasnt liked by the majority of the people. It would be ok for him to reach God tier level in about more than just a year, but currently Goku's mastered Ultra Instict doesnt seem achievable by someone like Goten, due to how he has slowly become irrelevant in the serious in terms of power and how he has no real reason to be training with Whis unless they saw the same potential in him that they saw in Goku and Vegeta.
Xion Bagel I agree 50 years was a bit much, but right now the most action we've seen from goten and trunks was in the Buu saga; after that they didnt really have much to do, no little training scenes, no little fight scenes like Gohan had as Great Saiyaman. They didnt get to do much so far and I understand why they didnt get into the tournament of power but since they are ending the series soon and maybe coming back, until that happens Gotens potential is gonna stay dormant. This is a series, imagine it took 20 years to goten be in the same level has gohan, toryama dont want to go in that direction so they just gave goten and trunks a boost in their early ages and goten and trunks see their fathers a lot more powerfull than what gohan saw. Its like chemistry, some theories were hard to discover but nowdays we learn them in school so its the same thing with goten and trunks

I would say Goten has the greater potential for the simple fact he was conceived after Goku reach Super Saiyan and increase his s cell count. I believe that was the reason Goten was able to transform at such a young age because the Abundant supply of s cells

In my opinion it comes down to mindset here, the potential that goten show us is that he is a saiyan prodigy and from an early age can access the super saiyan form at will while gohan still need the source of anger and desire in order to acquire that form. But on the other hand Gohan is seen to be able to break through his limit if he find the right reason to fight and have the feeling of anger and desires inside of him ( cell saga ), im not saying that goten doesn't have the rage boost but, it has been gohan trademark more than goten because gohan is a pacifist at first ( as shown in cell saga ). So i think it will become the battle of potential prodigy vs potential rage boost

goten. potential just means you start off with PROMISE. you can be born with 10,000 power level at age 1 but if you don't train or anything you can be 50 years old while only naturally getting stronger and only be at like 20,000 power level. so goten showed more potential not only in raw strength, ki power but also in fighting since gohan at that age was no where near as skilled technique wise as goten. goten also doesn't hesitate to fight unlike gohan at that age. goten would've dived right in for frieza if him and gohan were the same age at the time goku and gang were on namek.

I think you all got it wrong,, Since Trunks trains with Vegeta and then play/fights with goten, therefore he goten got into super saiyan. According to me, Gohan has will have the most potential among all the Z Fighters #Gohan, Because Potential Can't be just seen as a rate of development or how fast you can go. Potential is how far you can go.

Alpha Values Games its been 2 years since i made this comment and i totally forgot about it, i have since changed my mind though, still Ultimate Gohan is such a badass and my favorite in DBZ
Goten has way more potential than Gohan, hell i actually back it of from the Trunks timeline, in which he fought the androids for years and training and still couldnt even really be close to them, goten manages to be much stronger than future trunks, vegeta and future gohan with little to no training, we dont see goten get huge rage boost because he really has not passed compare to gohan a one on one going to die moment, hes always with trunks. Or somebody else. And counts on fusion way too much.
I would love to see goten train seriously for 2 years to show everybody that he can reach probably red god level goku in battle of gods. And that before tge age of 10.

#Goten he simply displayed more power at a far younger age despite Gohan having his potential unlocked Goten didn't require such a power boost because even without it his S-cells allowed him to demonstrate far greater potential at his age meaning if he had his potential unlocked at minimum he'd gain ascended ssj grade 2 or at Max ssj 2 during pretty close to the end of the buu saga as for Super I'd say he'd definitely have ssj2 because of his potential being awakened just as Gohan was but having the power advantage at his age compared to how Gohan was at 7 and if they gave #Goten attention he'd probably be greater due to Goku being alive
