Turles just being a doppelganger (actual phenomenon) makes more sense than "Saiyans of the same class all look near identical" because the latter is actively contradicted by Raditz, a low class saiyan who is blood related to Kakarot, looking different from him. That and Bardock's crew all looked different from each other. As amusing as Turles being Kakarot's evil twin would be.

Aesthetically, it was the darkest and most grim that the Dragon Ball series has looked up to that point. You see the planet literally dying and Goku getting his ass kicked a few times. That imagery can linger lol

However, the genetic of Siayan would increase if they become stronger and thus theirs offspring would also become stronger as well. Considering Goku's father has potential to surpass King Vegeta and given more times he would be, that means Goku's "low birth" factor didn't factor in potential as well.
The original canon of Dragon Ball is that all low rank saiyans look the same because they werent worthy of having unique appearances within the saiyan caste and were essentially used as cannon fodder

If they really wanted to make Turles Cannon they could make him an alternate version of Goku from Universe 6. They have plenty of time to experiment with dragon ball heroes. They should give us what we want and give us some arcs from other universe s. Animated. Frankly, I rather like the explanation that Turles and Goku only look alike because they're both low born. It kind of has a subtle hint about saiyan society, implying that only the elites like Vegeta could breed normally, and that those who's only purpose is to serve as rank-and-file fodder were instead 'mass produced' from a small genetic pool in order to make sure that they didn't breed stronger warriors. Through this, the elite could maintain their power over saiyan society by making sure they only bred with the strongest and produced the strongest offspring, while the low born simply had their genetic material taken and then used to sort of 'grow' additional low class warriors. Through this, low class warriors never were allowed to breed with each other, which would have given them the chance to breed stronger offspring over generations through selective mating and thus potentially challenge the ruling class. And it would further serve to fuel Vegeta's initial dismisal of Goku/Kakarot, since to him Goku wasn't just a low class... he was just a mass produced fodder soldier, where he the Prince of Saiyans was actually born and bred Of course, this is ultimately not the case as later movies and series showed us... but it was kind of neat at the time
My only issue is what about all the other lowclass saiyans who look nothing like the 3? Bards wife and team all look nothing like him nor did the loads of saiyans in the Bard movie. I always figures that excuse was just kinda a cop out for the fact that honestly they reused Gokus design a lot some of the main cast even look the same. It's the reason why people say Gohan and Yamcha look alike, they just have the same hairstyle but most of them are one hairstyle or face scar away from being identical.

Actually, it would make sense of them looking similar if the low-class breeding program was canon, because they'd just happen to have come from the same genetic stock or even the same 'parents.' Because Saiyans are so primitive, they'd likely have a system of mandatory sperm harvesting for 'ideal' males, and females that aren't fit to fight become birth mothers, whose only job is to be pregnant all the time. In this case, there would actually be a decent chance for Saiyans to share at least one parent with someone in their same unit, and many in their generation would have similar traits like hair, eye shape, nose shape, and so on, similar because of the stringent rules on the 'ideal' low-class male the elite want to propagate. Too weak and they're useless, too strong and they're a threat. Bardock would have likely been qualified to give birth with Gine at one point, but then was ridiculed when his second son was much weaker than Raditz at birth (since we know Saiyan infants are scanned right away for starting power levels). Hell, that could have even demoted him to be 'low-class' on its own, where he was 'middle-class' prior.
A few things to note is that turles is probably much older than goku and might even be nappas age. Secondly in the funi dub goku uses kaioken x20 which would make turles at least 3rd form frieza power scale
3rd form is way too exagerated. Turles' initial power is 19k and went to 300k after the first fruit, one more and he'd be able to kill frieza in his first form. the second form would turn the tables and turles would end up getting killed.
It’s genetics that decides there there social class. The low class father can only breed with those in the same class, while the high breeds can decide who they breed with,usually those who are just as strong as they are.

Fun fact, wukong was birth from one of 4 rocks that had absorb energy. Another monkey was also born the same way. Unlike wukong in the beginning, this one was calm and well mannered and in its lifetime, had done many good deeds that allowed him to ascend to heaven after it died. Wukong learned immortality because of his fear of death and became arrogant but his journey to the west allowed him to grow and ascend to godhood. The other monkey didnt understand why wukong gets special treatment after all the bs things he done and was given a chance to ascend once his journey is done while he had to work hard to do so thus he became corrupt and believe he was better suited to replace wukong. In the story wukong defeated/killed his corrupt counterpart which eventually reincarnated into the next life as a monk and ascended once more because in this new life he had already relinquished his jealousy and only focus on doing good deeds again

They have plenty of time to experiment with dragon ball heroes. They should give us what we want and give us some arcs from other universe s. Animated. Like this anime season could have been 12 episodes of Dedicated pride troopers anime. Pride Troopers a dragon ball story.24 episodes 2 seasons. Then give us something else. No goku until the finale to tie it in with the main story. Instead we ger rehashed content constantly.

My headcannon was that he was a big fan of Bardock and wanted to look like him.
Frankly, I rather like the explanation that Turles and Goku only look alike because they're both low born. It kind of has a subtle hint about saiyan society, implying that only the elites like Vegeta could breed normally, and that those who's only purpose is to serve as rank-and-file fodder were instead 'mass produced' from a small genetic pool in order to make sure that they didn't breed stronger warriors. Through this, the elite could maintain their power over saiyan society by making sure they only bred with the strongest and produced the strongest offspring, while the low born simply had their genetic material taken and then used to sort of 'grow' additional low class warriors. Through this, low class warriors never were allowed to breed with each other, which would have given them the chance to breed stronger offspring over generations through selective mating and thus potentially challenge the ruling class. And it would further serve to fuel Vegeta's initial dismisal of Goku/Kakarot, since to him Goku wasn't just a low class... he was just a mass produced fodder soldier, where he the Prince of Saiyans was actually born and bred
Of course, this is ultimately not the case as later movies and series showed us... but it was kind of neat at the time
My only issue is what about all the other lowclass saiyans who look nothing like the 3? Bards wife and team all look nothing like him nor did the loads of saiyans in the Bard movie. I always figures that excuse was just kinda a cop out for the fact that honestly they reused Gokus design a lot some of the main cast even look the same. It's the reason why people say Gohan and Yamcha look alike, they just have the same hairstyle but most of them are one hairstyle or face scar away from being identical.

They was lazy with the budget and later made a excuse for why Turles despite never being confirmed to be related to Goku still looked like him.
Actually, it would make sense of them looking similar if the low-class breeding program was canon, because they'd just happen to have come from the same genetic stock or even the same 'parents.' Because Saiyans are so primitive, they'd likely have a system of mandatory sperm harvesting for 'ideal' males, and females that aren't fit to fight become birth mothers, whose only job is to be pregnant all the time. In this case, there would actually be a decent chance for Saiyans to share at least one parent with someone in their same unit, and many in their generation would have similar traits like hair, eye shape, nose shape, and so on, similar because of the stringent rules on the 'ideal' low-class male the elite want to propagate. Too weak and they're useless, too strong and they're a threat.
Bardock would have likely been qualified to give birth with Gine at one point, but then was ridiculed when his second son was much weaker than Raditz at birth (since we know Saiyan infants are scanned right away for starting power levels). Hell, that could have even demoted him to be 'low-class' on its own, where he was 'middle-class' prior.
Now here’s a fan that pays attention to material, does his research and doesn’t use crazy far fetched head canon
A few things to note is that turles is probably much older than goku and might even be nappas age. Secondly in the funi dub goku uses kaioken x20 which would make turles at least 3rd form frieza power scale
Goku's base power level in Tree of Might was 30,000
30,000 x 20 = 600,000
Third form Frieza has a PL of 2,000,000
3rd form is way too exagerated. Turles' initial power is 19k and went to 300k after the first fruit, one more and he'd be able to kill frieza in his first form. the second form would turn the tables and turles would end up getting killed.

Fun fact, wukong was birth from one of 4 rocks that had absorb energy. Another monkey was also born the same way. Unlike wukong in the beginning, this one was calm and well mannered and in its lifetime, had done many good deeds that allowed him to ascend to heaven after it died. Wukong learned immortality because of his fear of death and became arrogant but his journey to the west allowed him to grow and ascend to godhood. The other monkey didnt understand why wukong gets special treatment after all the bs things he done and was given a chance to ascend once his journey is done while he had to work hard to do so thus he became corrupt and believe he was better suited to replace wukong. In the story wukong defeated/killed his corrupt counterpart which eventually reincarnated into the next life as a monk and ascended once more because in this new life he had already relinquished his jealousy and only focus on doing good deeds again

The 3rd one I'm not too sure 🤔 kind of forgot that one as it's backstory but I remember it wasn't too glamorous. All-in-all Wukong and the Six-Eared Macaque are the popular 2 as its a tale of brother monkeys whose powers are on equal level.
