- Diane Lane stars as Ellen Aim singing the closing song to Streets of Fire, "Tonight Is What it Means to Be Young", as Tom leaves with McCoy
What is Streets of Fire about?
Streets of Fire is a 1984 American neo-noir rock musical film directed by Walter Hill and co-written by Hill and Larry Gross. It is described in the opening credits and posters as "A Rock & Roll Fable" and is a mix of various movie genres with elements of retro-1950s woven into then-current 1980s themes. The film stars Michael Paré, Diane Lane, Rick Moranis, Amy Madigan, Willem Dafoe, E.G. Daily, and Deborah Van Valkenburgh. In Richmond, a city district in a time period that resembles the 1950s (labelled "another time, another place"), Ellen Aim, lead singer of Ellen Aim and the Attackers, has returned home for a concert. The Bombers, a biker gang from another part of town called the Battery, led by Raven Shaddock, crash the concert and kidnap Ellen.

I am listening March 2024....who's with me ♾️♾️♾️💃❤️❤️❤️🌠🌠🌠
Me too
Yep, and it's turned up
Was a great movie! Great song
Yes, me too.
me
Such an underrated movie. Diane Lane was breathtaking in her role as Ellen Aim. So many great actors starred in the movie with Diane.. Michael Pare, Rick Moranis, Amy Madigan, WIllem Dafoe, Rick Rossovich (Top Gun), Bill Paxton and others. Hard to believe this movie was released 39 years ago.
Best movie and sound track
I agree a great movie all good performances
This was written by in my opinion one of the greatest lyrical poets of the 20th century, Jim Steinman. Then to mix all those big names into it and the only word I can use is WOW
Diane Lane totally dream girl of the 80's ❤
Don't forget Robert Townsend and Mykelti Williamson, also known as Bubba From Forrest Gump.
Saw this for the first time in 1984, still watching in 2024!!!! What a fantastic masterpiece!
This is still amazing in 2023. Diane Lane was breathtaking.
Totally agree 👍
She should have been cloned 😂 stunning woman
she’s adorable
I can't think of a single schoolboy who saw this film that didn't fall hard for Diane Lane. And this song...still riles me up.
One of my first crushes, behind Catherine Bach
Michael Pare was the epitome of cool for that era. Better than the other meatheads.
And she's still looking great!
I wanted to be Tom Cody in the worst way !
@@kevinthrift9655 M. Pare was one of my childhood heros
Man! This movie came out 40 years ago. Feel Ike it was just yesterday my wife and I were watching it in the theater. She passed away 11 years ago and I still think about here everyday. This song brings back memories of a time when we were younger and things were better
Diane Lane was only 18 years old when she played Ellen Aim. Truly incredible performance.
Still listening in December 2023!
Same here! Merry Christmas 🌲🎉
just saw the movie for the first time
Me too! Underrated movie-great music! Happy New Year all 🎆
@@karenstoddard8278Happy New Year!
Me to
4 decades later the Streets of Fire soundtrack (very underrated IMHO) is still better than anything else I've heard, a F%&CKN MASTERPIECE. Diane Lane is a smoke show in this movie.
👍
you are so right its till my all time nr 1 song
Diane's vocals were dubbed in (movie magic). Laurie Sargent and Holly Sherwood actually did the singing.
Diane Lane herself is completely under rated just like this movie. I still have a crush on her lol.
shes so adorable in this
The music of this movie is a work of art, I have listened to it since I was a child and now that I am 48 it is still my favorite.
One of my favorite movies! "Guys, it's been a slice."
Why this movie under performed was still beyond me. It has all the elements to become a blockbuster. Still love it after almost 40 yrs
For those of us there at the time, it was good as a film but not chart topping given the massive competition of the mid-80’s classics.
I saw this movie many years ago, and I will never forget this rock&roll movie .....the best...
My first thought when I saw this movie for the first time, (too) many years ago, was that the music sounded a lot like some of Meat Loaf's songs - I didn't know at the time that they were both written by the same man, Jim Steinman. I love this still, at the age of 60, so many years later ❤
So do I!! I'm a big fan!
Saw this film the first night it was played on HBO, “A Rock and Roll Fable”, this is and will be one of my favorite movies of all time, always a pleasure to watch.
yeee wathced on 80s as a child and was a blast, have many messages that all movies doesnt have today!
If you listen to this song and think it sounds familiar, that's because it was written by long time composer, lyricist and producer Jim Steinman who wrote many hits for Meatloaf. This song and Nowhere fast were both written by Steinman. The lead vocals were actually sung by Laurie Sargent and Holly Sherwood. Not Ellen Aim/Diane Lane.
Holly Sherwood et Rory Dodd 😉
Jim also wrote a few songs for Bonnie Tyler.
Such an underrated song! Absolutely brilliant!
This movie was brilliant and the songs were incredible, 59 and love this film the best.
I had a huge crush on Michael Pare. Diane and him had great chemistry! I still think their kids in the rain is still one of best kids scenes in cinema.❤
You mean "kiss".
Here in Brazil, we always listen to these immortal songs...
Because you have great taste, my friend!
One of my absolute fave movies, of all time, since the first time I saw it back in the 80s, and the music is just kicking !!!
Still crushing on Diane Lane after all these years! ❤❤❤
Streets of Fire blew me away at the age of 13 because I had no idea you could "mash up" like that. Grown up me thinks the middle of the movie drags a little bit but Walter Hill always did great action.
So happy i was growing up listening this
The entire soundtrack to this movie was amazing. I had a massive crush on Diane Lane after seeing her in this.
Лейн здесь "говорящая голова". Если не ошибаюсь, то исполнительница данной песни Холли Шервуд. Эллен Эйм поет ее голосом.
and I watched Kevin Costner and her in a movie to get t heir grandchild, no plastics done on either of them and they looked GREAT!!
Yep 😊
I love every song Jim Steinman wrote, Diane Lane is just icing on the cake
Great movie and song by Jim Steinman RIP A great composer gone way too soon.
Ive been screaming this movies praises for at least 20 years. So great to see so many people discovering such a unique film. Try to describe it ...theres no other movie you can compare it to. Dark room viewing only ....not a daytime movie 😂
OOOH, what a song! 😍 and so great movie, too
This is cool! I am one of the 400 audience extras. This was a fun movie to work on. Many of the same locations used in The Warriors.
Awesome to hear
Walter Hill is the man
1980s awesome music 🎶
This song is immortal.
Streets of Fire. Best movie ever made. Tom Cody is a hero. Not one we want, but the one we need. A man we SHOULD ALL emulate. Sacrifice and duty.
Best movie ever..it should be released in theathers
it was
ALGUIEN ESCUCHA ESTETEMAZO EL 1 DE JUNIO 2024
WOW ! Diane Lane is one beautiful woman and still is.
this song will live forever....
May the harmony on that stage be our new reality
One of my favorite movies and soundtracks. Amazing!
Still listening in February 2024
2024년3월에 듣고있어요
40년전 극장에서 이 영화를보고
설레던마음이 아직도 기억나요
I've been in love with Diane Lane since HS, but we rarely talk anymore.
Ageless
Tonight is what it means to be young and nowhere fast are two GREAT SONGS 🎵🎼 Great movie too. Again Awesome 2 songs. I LOVE IT 🥰
this was one of the best movies of the 80,s diane lane was 19 when she made this movie
"Look, I know you're gonna be going places with your music and stuff and... and I'm not the kind of guy to be carrying your guitars along for you. But if you ever need me for something... I'll be there"
Música linda, filme excelente e interpretação maravilhosa !🎙🤩
One of my BEST favourites movies ,and this part remembers a mix of Bonnie Tyler and meatloaf with the incredible diane lane❤🎉
Great song. Great movie 🎥.
An awesome and completely under rated movie. The cast, the music, the story...this movie has it all. And it has Diane Lane...soooo...😁
I love this movie!
RIP Jim Steinman. You ultimate rock fire starter!
One of my favorite movies ever
Grew up with this kind of Music 😃😃😃 80 rule💪💪💪
now this was a real movie great cast, great action and pure 80's heart, Diane Lane is painfully gorgeous she reminds me a lot of Julia Stiles on the face
You will Love it 😍
Diane Lane though 😍😍😍
Real music like this one made a very good walk true life
Absolute favorite
Jim Steinman was the greatest songwriter ever. rip.
Just right now listening❤
Awesome
Fire, Inc did the vocals and Diane lane did a fantastic job with it! I listent o this, Nowhere Fast, and Sorcerer a lot.
Streets of Fire a great movie still after all these years with brilliant soundtrack.
Just bought dvd one of my favourite films cast tunes one of the best xx
Yo haré lo mismo 😊
Such a great 80's movie! God I miss that decade! Wish I had a time machine so I could escape this present day nightmare. That said, I've been in love with Diane Lane ever since.
Diane Lane is almost 60 years old! Wow! How time flies. I had a major Cush on her first time I saw her in, “Justa little Romance.”
I’m there with ya. She’s always been a knockout.
Such a sweet film where Lane and her French beau strive to kiss at sunset in a gondola under the Bridge of Sighs..helped in their objective by Sir Laurence Olivier.
It's June 2024 and i still wish i was Diane, she is the hottest thing the eighties produced and i wish i was her lol
This was an awesome movie. Didn't know she actually sang this. Have to watch it again, fer sure.
This is why we ride.
Diane Lane was only 18yo when she made this movie. I saw a video of her on Letterman promoting the movie - she appeared very young, even younger than in the movie where I guess she was supposed to be a still young but mature adult.
Brings back such great memories for me!))
After Tom Cody threw the money back in Billy Fish's face and she ran after Tom I figured it would be " happily ever after" but this scene where she went back to singing and Tom walked away really ripped at my heart.
But ya know what?
Sometimes that's just the way life goes....
Great movie.
Wow timewarp for me!! ;) I was like 11 yrs old ( illegal cable from my older sister's bf who was killed when they held up his arcade/pizzeria back in the 80's he was a good guy RIP Wilbur) watched this....
It’s 2024 and this song is still my jam
I was fourteen when I first saw Streets of Fire. Loved it❤
Happy 40th anniversary (plus 2 days) to Streets of Fire!!!!
Immortal indeed… Diane Lane, Laurie Sargent, Jim Steinman
May 2024!!!! My God I love this album I had the CD and the tape!!!! 😊❤😊❤😂
Brilliant composition.
Let’s not forget Walter Hill here, his films are dripping with style and mood
Walter Hill should've directed a bunch of music videos. The guy was great at it.
Happy Birthday Stoney Javkson!!❤
Watch the movie when it came out !Great song
3:23 Great shot of all of them.
Wow, she was sooo beautiful in this movie! I was 14 when this came out and I had the biggest crush on Diane Lane!
ラストでのお互いに視線が合うシーンは、この映画のハイライトだと思います。泣けました。
Sad this movie did not take off
One of the best movies with the best music i ever seen.Normaly i am not for movies with singing in it but this movie had it all.A good story, good actors like Willian Dafoe and the than famousand Michael Pare and dont forget Diana Lane my favorite actress of than times and still is.I loved her in man of steel and batman vs superman and justice league. Also with awesome action and music.Seen it at least five times already and will watch again soon.
Let the riots begin
Let the fire be started
We're dancing for the hopeless
And the brokenhearted
I watched this film when i was 10 when it first came out and thought it was the coolest fucking movie ever made, I’ve had a crush on Diane Lane ever since.
Diane Lane is awesome.
Amazing ❤
Saw this in the late 80s...and still tripping that Robert Townsend is singing in this, lol ! (I had just watched Hollywood Shuffle back then which is a ridiculously funny Robert Townsend flick)
Awesome lady and song. Mmmmph ❤ Diane Lane was a total knockout. 👌 💋
80s awesomeness
Still one of the best movies of the 80’s. Jim Steinman wrote the best orchestral scores.
這部電影台灣譯成“狠將奇兵”真的是好看!唱歌這一幕是女主在該片中的橋段之一!
2024 y sigo escuchando está música
“Tonight is what it means to be young…before you know it it’s gone…”
“Let the revels begin
Let the fire be started
We're dancing for the restless and the broken-hearted.”
Love, love, love, the climactic moments in this song. R.I.P. Jim Steinman. You gave us an immortal song from this glorious era, the 80’s, the pinnacle of pop/cult culture…stuff of nostalgic love.
uma rabula do rock and roll
Written and composed by the late great Jim Steinman and vocals by the talented and gifted Holly Sherwood
He also wrote meat loaf's high hit "I would anything for love but I won't do that." Which was Meat's come back hit of the 90's
