Such an underrated movie. Diane Lane was breathtaking in her role as Ellen Aim. So many great actors starred in the movie with Diane.. Michael Pare, Rick Moranis, Amy Madigan, WIllem Dafoe, Rick Rossovich (Top Gun), Bill Paxton and others. Hard to believe this movie was released 39 years ago.
This was written by in my opinion one of the greatest lyrical poets of the 20th century, Jim Steinman. Then to mix all those big names into it and the only word I can use is WOW
4 decades later the Streets of Fire soundtrack (very underrated IMHO) is still better than anything else I've heard, a F%&CKN MASTERPIECE. Diane Lane is a smoke show in this movie.
It's the film I have watched most times, maybe 35 times. Together with Blues brothers the only films I have watched over five times, Blues brothers maybe 20 times.
My late husband had watched the film and recorded part of this song. He couldn't remember what the film was called. I'd never heard this song but found it and the film for him nearly 20 years later. Love it.
Man! This movie came out 40 years ago. Feel Ike it was just yesterday my wife and I were watching it in the theater. She passed away 11 years ago and I still think about here everyday. This song brings back memories of a time when we were younger and things were better
My first thought when I saw this movie for the first time, (too) many years ago, was that the music sounded a lot like some of Meat Loaf's songs - I didn't know at the time that they were both written by the same man, Jim Steinman. I love this still, at the age of 60, so many years later ❤
I went to the theater to see this movie. My friends and i sang this song all the time. The song was our anthem. Tonight is what it means to be young. Time goes by so fast.
If you listen to this song and think it sounds familiar, that's because it was written by long time composer, lyricist and producer Jim Steinman who wrote many hits for Meatloaf. This song and Nowhere fast were both written by Steinman. The lead vocals were actually sung by Laurie Sargent and Holly Sherwood. Not Ellen Aim/Diane Lane.
Saw this film the first night it was played on HBO, “A Rock and Roll Fable”, this is and will be one of my favorite movies of all time, always a pleasure to watch.
Watched it in London, in 84. Loved it. Kept watching it over the years. Keeps me thinking of when I was young and felt invincible and thought the world was mine!!!
Wow, who would've thought back then watching this, Diane Lane was just 2 years younger than me. I never realized actually till right now. This was a great movie and a great memory to relive.
I had a huge crush on Michael Pare. Diane and him had great chemistry! I still think their kids in the rain is still one of best kids scenes in cinema.❤
Streets of Fire blew me away at the age of 13 because I had no idea you could "mash up" like that. Grown up me thinks the middle of the movie drags a little bit but Walter Hill always did great action.
Ive been screaming this movies praises for at least 20 years. So great to see so many people discovering such a unique film. Try to describe it ...theres no other movie you can compare it to. Dark room viewing only ....not a daytime movie 😂
I watched this film when I was 16 years old... An entire world yet to discover, the mystery of Life itself about to discover... Now I'm old but happy. Yes, I discovered life and it wasn't dissapointing. It was wonderfull, I have a beautifull and loving wife, a precious daughter, two other sons... Life has been generous with me.
2024 never gets old. What a scene, song, story. When will broadway make this a reality. Smh. I know she was only 19 but I was 13. And I was stunned by her beauty. ❤ ❤
Such a great 80's movie! God I miss that decade! Wish I had a time machine so I could escape this present day nightmare. That said, I've been in love with Diane Lane ever since.
Muy lindo video muchas gracias por compartir 😊 😊. No sabía que la bella y talentosa Diane Lane canto en esta película, realmente Diane es extraordinaria y versátil, en esta escena esta con todo su esplendor y belleza. 😊😊❤❤😊😊.
now this was a real movie great cast, great action and pure 80's heart, Diane Lane is painfully gorgeous she reminds me a lot of Julia Stiles on the face
After Tom Cody threw the money back in Billy Fish's face and she ran after Tom I figured it would be " happily ever after" but this scene where she went back to singing and Tom walked away really ripped at my heart. But ya know what? Sometimes that's just the way life goes.... Great movie.
"Look, I know you're gonna be going places with your music and stuff and... and I'm not the kind of guy to be carrying your guitars along for you. But if you ever need me for something... I'll be there"
Such a sweet film where Lane and her French beau strive to kiss at sunset in a gondola under the Bridge of Sighs..helped in their objective by Sir Laurence Olivier.
One of the best movies with the best music i ever seen.Normaly i am not for movies with singing in it but this movie had it all.A good story, good actors like Willian Dafoe and the than famousand Michael Pare and dont forget Diana Lane my favorite actress of than times and still is.I loved her in man of steel and batman vs superman and justice league. Also with awesome action and music.Seen it at least five times already and will watch again soon.
Saw this for the first time in 1984, still watching in 2024!!!! What a fantastic masterpiece!
You and me both.
Inesquecível, eterno desde as músicas ao próprio filme não me canso de ver

Same here …it’s my fav Jim Steinman song.
Yes, I just love it. I remember as a kid watching this on HBO over and over and over. I still love it today.
I love this movies
This is still amazing in 2023. Diane Lane was breathtaking.
Totally agree 👍
She should have been cloned 😂 stunning woman
she’s adorable
40 years later, she still looks great!
Best movie and sound track
I agree a great movie all good performances
This was written by in my opinion one of the greatest lyrical poets of the 20th century, Jim Steinman. Then to mix all those big names into it and the only word I can use is WOW
Diane Lane totally dream girl of the 80's ❤
Don't forget Robert Townsend and Mykelti Williamson, also known as Bubba From Forrest Gump.
I am listening March 2024....who's with me ♾️♾️♾️💃❤️❤️❤️🌠🌠🌠
Me too
Yep, and it's turned up
Was a great movie! Great song
Yes, me too.

I can't think of a single schoolboy who saw this film that didn't fall hard for Diane Lane. And this song...still riles me up.
One of my first crushes, behind Catherine Bach
Michael Pare was the epitome of cool for that era. Better than the other meatheads.
And she's still looking great!
I wanted to be Tom Cody in the worst way !
@@kevinthrift9655 M. Pare was one of my childhood heros
Still listening in December 2023!
Same here! Merry Christmas 🌲🎉
just saw the movie for the first time
Me too! Underrated movie-great music! Happy New Year all 🎆
@@karenstoddard8278Happy New Year!

I had a big crush on Diane Lane 1984 when i saw this movie,i was 17 years old.
The music is timeless.
I sill have a crush on her!
4 decades later the Streets of Fire soundtrack (very underrated IMHO) is still better than anything else I've heard, a F%&CKN MASTERPIECE. Diane Lane is a smoke show in this movie.
👍
you are so right its till my all time nr 1 song
Diane's vocals were dubbed in (movie magic). Laurie Sargent and Holly Sherwood actually did the singing.
Diane Lane herself is completely under rated just like this movie. I still have a crush on her lol.
shes so adorable in this
I have watched this movie so many times. I love it.......even at 75 years old.
I’m 71 years old and I know how you feel 🇬🇧
It's the film I have watched most times, maybe 35 times. Together with Blues brothers the only films I have watched over five times, Blues brothers maybe 20 times.
October 1 2024 still rocking to this.
October 21, 2024.
My late husband had watched the film and recorded part of this song. He couldn't remember what the film was called. I'd never heard this song but found it and the film for him nearly 20 years later. Love it.

Guess we all get there sooner or later eh. Sorry about your wife.
❤😢❤
Diane Lane was only 18 years old when she played Ellen Aim. Truly incredible performance.
"17 ㅛㄷㅁㄱㄴ ㅐㅣㅇ"(웁스) "17 years old"...

So do I!! I'm a big fan!
really? I had the same thought!
Why this movie under performed was still beyond me. It has all the elements to become a blockbuster. Still love it after almost 40 yrs
For those of us there at the time, it was good as a film but not chart topping given the massive competition of the mid-80’s classics.
I saw this movie many years ago, and I will never forget this rock&roll movie .....the best...
The music of this movie is a work of art, I have listened to it since I was a child and now that I am 48 it is still my favorite.
Here in Brazil, we always listen to these immortal songs...
Because you have great taste, my friend!
Aeeeeeee pohaaa
One of my favorite movies! "Guys, it's been a slice."
I love every song Jim Steinman wrote, Diane Lane is just icing on the cake
the movie is a masterpiece will live for ages
An American Classic!!!!! What a great year for movies!!!
I went to the theater to see this movie. My friends and i sang this song all the time. The song was our anthem. Tonight is what it means to be young. Time goes by so fast.
This movie was brilliant and the songs were incredible, 59 and love this film the best.

Holly Sherwood et Rory Dodd 😉
Jim also wrote a few songs for Bonnie Tyler.
The actual singers were billed as 'Fire Inc'.......... iconic music 🎵🎶
Amazing song and performance the 80s are eternal
I was 17 years old when this movie came out.
Just love it.
The 80's!!!!!!
Trippy, we are nearly 60 😅 ,it blows my mind I made it passed a half century, I know many died alot younger 😮
@@ianmangham4570 sad but true.
Definitely one of my favorite movies of all time. It's just so different I can't explain it.
Saw this film the first night it was played on HBO, “A Rock and Roll Fable”, this is and will be one of my favorite movies of all time, always a pleasure to watch.
yeee wathced on 80s as a child and was a blast, have many messages that all movies doesnt have today!
I viewed this when it came out when I was still in my 20s. A great movie and great songs - then there was Diane Lane - wow!

You mean "kiss".
Such an underrated song! Absolutely brilliant!
Streets of Fire blew me away at the age of 13 because I had no idea you could "mash up" like that. Grown up me thinks the middle of the movie drags a little bit but Walter Hill always did great action.
I have been listening to this since it came out, yes I'm old.
One of my absolute fave movies, of all time, since the first time I saw it back in the 80s, and the music is just kicking !!!
40 years old in 2024 and still great entertainment
I get goosbumps when I listen to this timeless anthem.
Diane Lane was ONE of my hearthrobs. Just one.
Ive been screaming this movies praises for at least 20 years. So great to see so many people discovering such a unique film. Try to describe it ...theres no other movie you can compare it to. Dark room viewing only ....not a daytime movie 😂
Great movie and song by Jim Steinman RIP A great composer gone way too soon.
I know she didn’t actually sing this but WOW what a great performance by Diane! Crushing on her since Six Pack and still crushing on her now! ❤
Still crushing on Diane Lane after all these years! ❤❤❤
She still stunning after all these years
What a song and my God what a film .
The entire soundtrack to this movie was amazing. I had a massive crush on Diane Lane after seeing her in this.
Лейн здесь "говорящая голова". Если не ошибаюсь, то исполнительница данной песни Холли Шервуд. Эллен Эйм поет ее голосом.
and I watched Kevin Costner and her in a movie to get t heir grandchild, no plastics done on either of them and they looked GREAT!!
Yep 😊
One of my favorites ever
I simply love this song. Should make this into a Broadway show! The crowd would go crazy singing to this song!!!
omg yes!!! 🙌 always loved this song ❤
The music of Jim Steinman, a jukebox musical. Like what has been done recently with Max Martin, but much better.
@@DanielThureskognah I just want this made into a musical. Its perfect for the stage.
Tonight is what it means to be young and nowhere fast are two GREAT SONGS 🎵🎼 Great movie too. Again Awesome 2 songs. I LOVE IT 🥰

No matter how old you are RIGHT NOW, tonight IS what it means to be young! Every year is OLDER but TONIGHT! OH TONIGHT!!!!
One of my favorite movies and soundtracks. Amazing!
An awesome and completely under rated movie. The cast, the music, the story...this movie has it all. And it has Diane Lane...soooo...😁
Such a masterpiece!!
Still Rock this Soundtrack
Have it on vinyl cd and dvd...
Steinman was a Musical Genius
And the Blasters!! Yeah Man....Still kickin
This is cool! I am one of the 400 audience extras. This was a fun movie to work on. Many of the same locations used in The Warriors.
Awesome to hear
Walter Hill is the man
