This is the heaviest, most prolific, soul wrenching song ever written. My childhood was terrible and my adult life filled with failure and depression and loneliness from the pits of hell until I gave my life and a ministry to Jesus Christ. It is the only song in my life that hits me like a wave every time I listen. I can vividly see all the scenes, hear the sounds, smell the odor of the shirt and the meal being prepared. It fills all my senses from head to toe. This song is pure reality.
somewhere far away a lonely bell was ringing and it echoed thru the canyon like a disappearing dream of yesterday...few lyrics paint a picture and evoke a feeling like those to me. A true classic written by Kris.
What could be better than Johnny and Chris singing this wonderful song together? Kris is an amazing songwriter and has always held a special place in my heart. 2 great men!
this song reminds me of my hero, my grandfather. he would sing this when i was little, he sang a lot of songs, but this one always stuck with me. both kris and johnny are beautiful souls.
Boy do I miss those days, going over to the neighbors on Sunday listening to Johnny Cash, Neil Diamond on the record player as the adults talked and we listened. God bless you John Cash. God bless you.
I just saw Kris in Frankfurt last night. What a concert. He had tears in his eyes a number of times, and it was evident he was saying goodbye. We in the audience were all very touched by his personal touch to us all, engaging us, asking for our forgiveness when he forgot a word or two, what a man. He was my favorite a lifetime ago, with Waylon and Wille. Adios man, thanks.
Kris has written and recorded great songs. You can rest assured he was never sorry when Johnny recorded one of them. They were great friends and each benefitted from that friendship - as did we. God bless them both.
This a beautiful song written by Kris Kristofferson and beautifully performed by Johnny Cash and Kris. I think that it describes the sadness of so many of us who tried the traditional american lifestyle and could never make the fit. We have warm memories of sunday supper and family life. We admire those that have it but realize that it was never meant to be for us.
I have lived and lived through many Sundays just like this. I'm very thankful for my loving family and real friends. Most GOD for staying with me all those days. Now I don't regret my choices in the past at least not most of them. They hopefully made me the better man I am today I love Johnny and Kris , I also know they have reall been there too! Now listen to "Why Me Lord" by Kris
my grandmother turned me on to cw and cash -- she loved all music --classical..... but had a 45 of i think ring of fire a summer i spent with her -- incredible woman for all she went through in her life -- miss her dearly
Noone can beat old music. Its got it own charm.. wonder if now days music will ever be liked the same way in 30 years like this is.. Keep the old music comming!
I remember the first time I heard this song, I think it was a Sunday and I was hungover, I sure related to this song before I got saved. I still love this song.
aaaw.. when you see them shake hands at the end... thats legendary and it kinda makes me cry xD This song makes me feel so great.. and i forget all the sad things in the world. Legends.. Amen.
Kris was and is a great poet! His words just flow like they were always there...nothing ever contrived. Me and Bobby McGee: "Freedom's just another word for nothing left to lose....". His imprint on the boomer generation and beyond will be lasting.
Long ago memories of a walking down a New York City sidewalk on a lonely Sunday morning. The quiet tall buildings were only canyons of my mind and the silent echos of another time and place. Even the cars and taxis passed without noise as if I were in a silent movie. If a stranger passed only a nod in quiet solitude. Thank you Johnny and Kris
How great it is to see and hear two Country Greats sing Sunday Morning Comming Down. Johnny Cash wsho made a hit of the song and Kris Kristofferson who wrote it.
Blaise Pascal described a "God-shaped void" inside the heart of every man. This song defines that void. The good news, Hans, is that void CAN be filled. Praying for you.
what a tune .the words just bring me back .to when i was on the piss all the time. thinking. everything was great. still love a drink /.but ive got clean shirts now
the lyrics are beautiful.. my uncle used to come in the house, heading straight to the piano and singing the first two lines everytime he came to visit..haha
Johnny Cash was cool, beyond cool... even to us rock n rollers who never listened to country. I remember playing this song over and over, back in the day. Thanks for uploading this vid !
Hi ruffin -- my Grandma had this 45 of ring of fire -- she loved the Cash Man and I would visit her on the lake she lived on in the summers -- she got me into some country which I do love -- Kris is great, too.
danke das ich mir überhaupt noch in diesen Land ein Country titel aus USA anhören darf. ! Dieser Song ist echt klasse, habe Ihn auch in Nashville ein paarmal hören können natürlich mit anderen Sängern.
I never served in the forces but i love your taste of music i have a disease that i cannot walk either its genetic and i to drink myself to sleep every night. But i have pride and i will say thank you for doing what you did i am proud of you hang in there. I am very sorry what happened but you guys are the reason we are all still free. THANK YOU
Kris I loved you from the very first time I heard you singing, I had to buy your LP (yes it was a Longplay) and I still have all of them. Kris I think your musics are so great because they talk about the way some people lived or are still living.
This god of which some of you speak had nothing to do with the brilliance of these two men. Biology and dedication to a craft produced this, one of my favorite songs of all time. Johnny just knows, simply intuitively knows, how to translate the incredible songwriting of Kris into a thing of perfection. Love it!
Thanks so much for posting this awesome video they are great together and their friendship and respect they have for each other is so obvious, two great men and one amazing song
I SURE DO MISS YOU MR. CASH, AND MR KRISTOFFERSON.............WILL YOU EVER COME TO THE TUCSON, ARIZONA AREA FOR A CONCERT?????
