When i was a kid my grandma would send me to the neighbors house to take a plate of food because they were sick. On the way out my grandpa told me to take the lawnmower with me and show them how good I was at mowing grass. They were people in our church. This was how I was raised. People took care of each other. I so much the days when life was simple. Care for your neighbors. Love each other. God bless you all.
wow this happend 9 years before i was born and today i sit here 24 years old and watching 2 masters doing this lovely song together over the internet. I can only give thanks to the world for the internet witch enables me to watch all the musical masterpieces of the time before my birth. Thank you. Rest in piece Jonny
Mr Kristofferson is so humble and respectful of Mr Cash.... what a great friendship and musical relationship those two had. I love it. I love this song.
Kris Kristofferson is such an interesting person; he's a Rhode's scholar; a brilliant songwriter..wrote "Me & Bobby McGee".. & also a top notch helicopter pilot; served during the Vietnam war. His father was a highly ranked, military officer & thought Kris would follow suit. But, instead Kris moved to Nashville & pursued a music career. Johnny Cash was his hero & Kris started out there, cleaning recording studios; one that Johnny worked at & Kris once said, that when he first met Johnny, he was doing drugs, especially speed & Kris said, that Johnny looked like a live wire, all in black, skin & bones, twitching. But, he adored Johnny & wanted him to record one of his songs & actually landed a helicopter in Johnny's backyard, to get his attention. It worked.
+AbbyNormal777 Yes my older brother taught me that when I was 16! I had seen Johnny Cash and June Carter way back in the 80' , followed by Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson in the 90's and finally last year I got to see Kris !!
It never ceases to amaze me how many people continue to view and comment on Johnny Cash videos, almost ten years after his death (September, 2003). It is a testament to the man's greatness and his incomparable contribution to country/folk music. And we should also appreciate the great Kris Kristofferson who is still with us and still making music.
Not only gave us beautiful music they have beautiful hearts and love one another have you heard the song kris wrote for john called john that beautiful too thank you from ireland
This song is a true story and you can feel it and smell the frayed chicken in the Sunday sunny morning ... Haha* ( to pick the cleanest dirty shirt and one more beer for desert ) ... Genius .:!
This song is like a great piece of art. It forms a picture in the listener's mind of a man who gets up on the Lord's day and experiences misery. A kind of lonely feeling of separation from the rest of humanity. Genius songwriting. And of course who could sing it better than Johnny Cash?
This song always makes me well up with sadness with the poignancy of the lyrics and the beauty of the structure and music, These are two of the greatest artists in any time.
The only thing that can make this song any better is seeing both these guys performing it together when you put two Icons like this together it’s just more Magic
Being the ex-wife of an alcoholic Vietnam combat veteran (who is now sober), I can attest to the authenticity of these lyrics. Whatever words I heard here I could once see in the tormented, hung-over morning eyes of my husband.
Ditto on the thanks for your husband's service, DivineSimply, and for your service, James Smith! You're so right about the authenticity of the lyrics. It was so weird when I first heard this song (over a decade and a half ago) how it took my mind right back to Sunday mornings in my own life. Though I was a Christian at the time, memories of going through a time in my life having wild Saturday nights (not just those nights, if I'm honest) then skipping church the next day while hungover, spending Sundays by myself came flooding back. Wise lyrics with a good lesson in this song Kris wrote. God bless you both and your families!
What a treat for John, to get to perform this with the guy who wrote it and so many other great songs. And what a treat for Kris to get to perform this song with the country legend who made this song famous.
I can see the peace of sobriety in Jonny in this prefomance. I'm so glad he had such a wonderful wife, and friends that helped him pull himself together. He really lived.
Kris K. is such a modest top class Artist and his legendary status never changes his decency! Johnny Cash was so genuine saying such beautiful, complimentary words to Kris K. Kris is such a pleasure to look at and listen to.....God Bless them all!! Sad song in my depression or out of it....love it!
One of the best country songs ever written or sang, I used to say you could smell the frying chicken and hear the church bells. At the time Kris wrote it he was a troubled man but he found his way out of it and the world is a better place because of it
I grew up with Johnny Cash, June Carter and The Stattler Brothers, so They are like family to me - Thanks God for letting me knowning the best of country.
People forget were they come from, they just need to take a little time and come down to earth. I did listening to Johny and Chris just brought me back. how cool is that so simple old hero's never dies in my mind.
It is just FANTISTIC the tallent some of us were blessed with. When you can put beautiful words on paper, then write the most perfect music to express those words, wow, then to top it off you are able to sing, and share it with milions of poeple. Music is, a beautiful teacher. Thank you to all those out there who, have and are and will , Let Your Light Shine. God's gift's to you are blessing you with tallents, your gift to God, is how well you use those tallents. thanks' forever
This Song really brings me back to the Bad, Sad old days when I was a lost Human Being, longing to be part of the human race, but isolated on the outside with no way back. Thank you GOD, and thank you for sharing this beautiful Real Life Song.
This song made me cry tears. Now I'm not a candy ass baby, So when I say it gave me tears, Believe. I grew up on Jonny Cash, An Kris Kristofferson. Legion is what they are! God Bless These Guy's!!
love listening to Kris and Johnny my dad introduced my siblings and me to these great men and their sound we love the music and enjoy it today thank you dad RIP
that's amazing the simple fact that Johnny gave the credit where it was due. He was/ is amazing, just cause he passed doesn't mean that his spirit is it's in his music & fans hearts. If it wouldn't have been for him we probably wouldn't know who Kris Kristofferson was, & that would be a damn shame.
With all due respect--and that's a LOT of respect--to Johnny, if we had to make a choice between having only Johnny Cash or Kris Kristofferson in our culture and completely exclude the other, I'd take Kris every day of the week and twice on Sunday. It's because of the reason my son was invited to be in so many bands even though he was just a slightly above-average average drummer/vocalist. He was told by many front men: "Hell, players and singers are a dime a dozen. We need guys who can WRITE!" Everybody's glad we never had to choose.
A lot of people don't realize what a BRILLIANT songwriter Kris Kristofferson is ... including this one, Me and Bobby McGee, Help Me Make it through the Night which he wrote after after reading an interview with Frank Sinatra, in which Sinatra said that he believed in “booze, broads or a Bible … whatever helps me make it through the night.” and one of the most powerful and underrated songs EVER - They Killed Him (a brilliant song about Gandhi, MLK, Jesus Christ, the Kennedy Brothers, The Highwayman -- just a BRILLIANT truly inspired poet.
Love them both!! My Dad was in a country band all of his life and could always pick some Johnny Cash Tunes. He always said that Kris wrote this song and Johnny sang it.
One of my favorite songs of all time by two of my favorite musicians. Still tend to prefer Kristofferson since he wrote it, but who doesn't love Cash? All around excellent music, in any case.
+Doak Turner Kris has a way with words. he can set a scene with one short sentence. Find a recording of his called "the best of all possible worlds" off the Bobby McGee album (if you don't already know it). Lyrics are brilliant.
Came here to say goodbye to Mr. Kristofferson.
Goodbye.
Thank you for leaving us so much fine music.

So very very true. So many of the greats are gone. When you look back at things like this you realize how much we have slipped as humans.
"Up to now that was the proudest moment of my life... this might be the proudest..." Said from the heart and what a nice thing to say....
It was so genuine, just like the music and the two preformers.
Two Legends! 💕
Humility

Kris wrote songs for people who have been through shit in their lives. He speaks to people who have felt the pain of hitting rock bottom.

Really? Kris is a fantastic singer! and I finally got a chance last year to hear him live! He was the last of the 4 that I had not seen.

As we say ADIOS to the great Kris Kristofferson, I tear up, and love seeing these 2 together!!! RIP Amigo KRIS ... September 2024 .
Possibly the greatest song ever written,Sunday Morning feeling,we've all been there,Well done Kris for telling it like it really was.
What? The greatest song is not about being hungover. Listen to I Can Only Imagine sometime.
The song is deeper than a person suffering a hangover. It is about being on a downward spiral and looking back up.
It's honestly an incredibly depressing song, but I love how Kris simply can't help but smile during the whole thing.
This song is a true story and you can feel it and smell the frayed chicken in the Sunday sunny morning ... Haha* ( to pick the cleanest dirty shirt and one more beer for desert ) ... Genius .:!
Depressing? So you're saying all my Sunday mornings are depressing?
This song is like a great piece of art. It forms a picture in the listener's mind of a man who gets up on the Lord's day and experiences misery. A kind of lonely feeling of separation from the rest of humanity. Genius songwriting. And of course who could sing it better than Johnny Cash?
@@bsvenss2only you can answer that bro. Are they?
Pray you never have to live that song, I did over 50 years ago, I'll never get over it.
The joy and proudness of Kris to be singing with his idol , has to be life changing , beyond music .
I just watched this 20 years after Johnny left us. Kris recently announced his retirement due to poor health I believe. Sure enjoyed this.
One of the best songs ever written, sung by two of the best.
40 years later... still a great song.

Real country ! And that’s all I’ll say about that!
It’s folk/country. I’d call it pop, though tbh.
