I met Dicky Henderson at a charity event in the late 60s. Nice , charismatic man. These 3 gents were really something. They were born to entertain...Max was nearly 20 years older than Billy and 14 years older than Dicky, yet still gives a good performance even though he was 63 years old. Curiously, he still outlived the other two who both passed far too young.
Yes Max almost a generation older than Billy. I forgotten just how young Billy was when he died at 59. I looked it up and it was dreaded prostate cancer, which if caught early, would be treatable today. Poor old Dickie died of pancreatic cancer at 62. A lost era with roots in music hall, those guys had to do it all.
Being 64 I had a vague memory of DH on telly from my early youth but hadn't given him a single thought until this arrived in my RUclips feed. I was shocked to find he'd died at only 62. I find it slightly poignant that the act begins with a gentle ribbing of the eldest of the 3 by the 2 others and yet from reading the comments I find Max Wall outlived both of them. Carpe Diem.
I never met Max Wall (unfortunately), but I had the great pleasure to work with Billy and Dickie separately, the latter on tour with his stage show and the former on the Good Old Days BBC TV show. Both great fun, but particularly fond memories of working with Dickie who along with his wife was an absolute hoot. As a young Assistant Stage Manager at the time, he couldn't have been kinder and more encouraging to me. Such a treat to come across this clip which brought back some great memories!

What a wonderful short clip of them 'fooling around so to speak' on stage
When in 1971 we only had 2 TV channels, the BBC and ITV when they were both at the top of their game. People just stopped in to see such great entertainers and then went out to the pub. How times have changed when there is nothing on mainstream TV now worth watching.
Around the age of 7 or 8 i remember going to see pantomime at the Birmingham Hippodrome and Dickie was star of the show if my memory serves me well
Ahhhh the days of real talent. What a wonderful performance. I miss seeing people like this... multi talented and worked hard to perfect their craft. We’ll never see their likes again 😢.
Charming,brilliant and entertaining..a window into another world.thanks.
My gran used to say they dance like they need the toilet! But it was great fun to watch. I bet it's hard to do also 😃😂🤩
I can’t stop smiling.
