There’s absolutely nobody like Max Wall these days. 😂. Ridiculously simple act but so very funny. I remember him when I were just a young kid. Thought he was great then and I still do. Saw him at a theatre in Coventry back in the early 1970’s, loved his humour ever since. Thanks for the fun Max RIP

How incredibly strange. He looks like something out of a Charles Darwin etching. Max Wall would have gone down a treat at Glastonbury Festival. He was also an incredible tap dancer....a very talented man...can anyone imagine one of today's performers having the self belief to go this weird as a solo act?

I used to like his funny walk and funny faces routine the most. Another good comedian, through his pretend to play the piano wrongly, was Les Dawson. I am sure Max was briefly on a Lads Army episode, talking about something, along with Les and other celebrities.

Unfortunately I don't have any way of changing the speed of the audio. I did my best to align it so that the error was minimied I don't know how this arose. but the original video is forty years old and was transferred to DVD many years back with fairly basic equipment. The original tape is Betamax and I no longer have any way of playing it, so I had to get it off the DVD.

John Cleese actually credits him with being the inspiration for the Ministry of Silly Walks I believe.....
..... you also have to remember that he was at his peak in the 30s-40s - entertaining in music halls (Max Wall and his Independent Legs) - until he was effectively blacklisted in the 50s due to his personal life....
... although I still think he was at his best in Jabberwocky playing King Bruno the Questionable opposite John Le Mesurier
