    I would absolutely recommend this camera; especially for someone that is a beginner. This camera is even great for professional work. It can go both ways.

    Ive got 2 of these. A black one and a white one. I want the silver one to complete the set haha. Plenty capable in 2022, especially if you are just shooting for social media and online. I just used it on a paid product shoot with a client of mine who makes swimsuits, she loved the photos. No one can tell the difference on my social media between a shot off the SL2 or the Canon R5 I had last year. Social media is the great equalizer. I wouldn't try to shoot pro sports or serious videos with this, unless I had a gimbal maybe. Great little cameras though.

    if you can get it for $200-300 used then definitely, what the heck, get it. It depends on your budget, mainly. It can compete with other cameras in its range. I'm seeing the Canon T7 kit at $480 in BH without the flippy screen and only 1080/30p, NOPE.
    Put the rest of the money in some good lenses. That is it's advantage, where its Sony counterpart ones don't have the flip screen, and menu system that frustrates you, doesn't even have touchscreen. This baby was pretty underrated when it was released - it was in such a good spot for the technology it had, great value for money, great size as the mirrorless lenses were coming - but still smaller than the full frame Canon RP! Now Sony has figured out "vlogging" with the ZV-E10, 4 years later.
    The SL3 is nice and pretty, yes. But has same 5fps burst only, same 9 AF points (in viewfinder), same battery, 4K can't use dual pixel.
    The Canon M series are also in a weird spot, with the phasing out and lack of lenses - but not bad choices still, if you only consider them for 3-5 years or so.. but that's still good time for the SL2 / 200D if you're not that demanding of a user. If you are, then why are you looking at this 5yo camera?!?!
    SL2 / 200D makes for a pretty good webcam, uncomplicated even for these times. Better lenses will multiply its worth and would not be so different from other APS-C cameras, except for the best ones like X-T4 which is 4x more money. I'm a bit exaggerating, of course.
    Heck I've done prenuptial shots, live events, infant shots, my cover videos, brought it trekking in the last year or so. I'm probably gonna bring it to our 3000m peak here soon, bring it abroad for vacation.
    I bought this baby prolly 4 years ago around $600 with kit, and now I'm thinking of replacing it. But I'm still giving it a chance looking at some recent SL2 videos, and it still surprises me - like heck yes, this baby could stay. I have not used this enough.

    I got my SL2 in 2020. It was only $400. I also got an EOS M for $109 in 2021. I swap lenses with these cameras because I have an adapter.

    Hey dude if your looking at the 90d, check out the canon rp. Could find one for relatively the same price as the 90d

    Great vid! Any huge difference in the SL2 vs SL3 for real estate photos, action shots, nature shots, nighttime shots? Not too concerned about the 1080p 24fps videos. I can pick up the SL2 for $350. Is the SL3 worth an extra $50???

      Probably go with the SL3, they are super similar cameras but for the extra 50 you’d be getting new processors and internal a so operation should be smoother and quicker.

    What do you think about SL3 vs T8i vs M50 MKII for a beginner to start astrophotography and also general daily photography?

    Question just purchased the T7 a month ago. I'm looking two add a second camera for more on the video side. I would like to be about to use the same Lens. What Camera do you suggest? SL2, SL3, or another one altogether???

    • @nickconnors8515
      @nickconnors8515  2 года назад

      What kind of video do you plan on producing? The SL2 is a great camera it is just getting older, 1080p is all it’ll do which for internet stuff is fine but some clients might not be happy with it.

    What’s the best lens if I’m capturing people or should I get a different camera?

    • @nickconnors8515
      @nickconnors8515  2 года назад

      The sigma f1.8 18-35 is a good portrait lens, not too wide and it isn’t telephoto, definitely look at getting a softening filter though because this lens is SUPER sharp.

    I have this camera, any settings advice for making RUclips videos?

    • @nickconnors8515

      I would suggest 1080p 24 fps with a 1/50 shutter on standard color profile. Also have the autofocus set to tracking, it does a great job at tracking faces. Try to have your aperture as wide open as possible to get a shallow depth of field. The blurry back ground helps make it look more cinematic in my opinion.

      the 24mm f/2.8 lens is pretty good with the SL2.
