Shannon from www.house-improvements.com shows you how to cut and install vinyl siding on the gable end of your roof or building. This is a follow-up to our full video on installing vinyl siding. - Хобби
I salute you! First video that actually made sense. If I were with you I would give you many beers.
Shannon is a DIYer's best friend! If he wasn't a contractor he should be a teacher with his clear, well thought out instructions. He doesn't leave out the basics because he is talking to people who have never done this before. Those of you who constantly need to comment "you should have..." need to understand that. I'd love to see any of you do half as well. It's not easy talking to people who have little knowledge of the subject ...take it from a 2nd grade teacher! Excellent as always, Shannon!

I have been coming back to your archive of videos over and over again for a decade. Love seeing your new videos in my subscriptions, but the value of your channel comes from the huge library of helpful tutorials. Thank you Shannon!

I don't usually comment on videos but you have helped me more times than I can count to do a job and do it right. Thank you for all the work you put into the vids. I recommend your channel almost daily!
I’m thinking of doing the vinyl siding on a shed I just built, I’ve never messed with vinyl before and thought about looking up Shannon before I got started. Glad I did.
He is a stud. Very good teacher. Very good man. No short cuts. Appreciate his time and consideration.
Just got done installing soffit, facia and siding on my 1500 sq. ft. house. Thanks to Shannon it came out great. His tips saved the day. My only challenge was trying to find nailing edges sometimes and little weird places I had to create custom solutions.
It's always a pleasure to watch to teach
Thanks for the tips. I always enjoy watching a pro at work!
Great video, I've watched the first vinyl siding too, every time I start a siding job, shed, garage and now replacing yellow siding on our house I come back here to get tips. Thanks for posting these videos.

These videos are awesome. I'm doing my whole house based on them. Saved me a ton on money!
I love this guys videos'. I watched this video 3 years ago when I did siding on my shed I put in, now I'm watching again for siding on my screened in porch. Just clear instructions, walks you through it completely. I watched his soffit/fascia video. Wrap video. Couple others. And there isn't a ton of fluff. Straight to it. I don't think he's making a ton from these videos. But man he's a saint and I appreciate these videos.
really great videos earned another subscriber being a contractor at 21 its great to be able to view these videos and feel confident completing a job
Thanks for a second great video. We have a new house, a 4 car detached garage, and a large tool shed to side this year. Your videos make me believe my wife and I can tackle it all ourselves and save quite a bit of money. We'll start with the tool shed for practice before we move on to the garage and then the house. Thanks again.
Great idea to start with a small project and work out the little details so you can tackle the larger projects. Good luck with your DIY
Sir. You are a saint. I been building my own house from only framework. You have been the most help I have had. Thank u n I appreciate you
Thanks Karen for the kind words, and please keep watching.
Hey Shannon, I've watched your two videos on vinyl and they were very clear, well presented and helpful. Keep up the good work and thanks for taking the time to make really high quality instructional videos!
My dad would have used an angle finder. My father was a master carpenter with lots of years experience. I really enjoy your videos and consult them when i do any work for myself or friends. I also direct people to your site for getting to know "how to" info before they hire a contractor. the angle finder is a simple piece of plastic/wood handle with a medal blade with a pivoting wingnut. I would show you a picture, but i don't have a picture of it.
Yup I own one but sometimes it just easier to use what you all ready have in your pouch.
Very clear explanation! Thank you!
thanks for sharing your knowledge with us,this has helped me a lot! What would we do without people like you,and you-tube? THANKS again!

This video was exactly what I needed to push through a double angled section that had been holding me up for several days.
Another stellar video from my favorite internet home improvement guru, Shannon! You should have your own TV show, man.
Thanks so much for this supplement video! I'm currently residing my house and your videos have been great. My house is stick built and my biggest problem is finding the studs that are not always 16" on center. Nice work!!

Good job man I do siding too and you can use the cut off as a template for your angle and it's the same idea for board and Batton your videos are great and very informative keep up the good work
Hey, Shannon, you are a great teacher, and a great person. Thanks for sharing your talent God , bless you!!! I
A great help for the weekend warrior to either correct one’s or neighbor’s siding slight installer issues.
Thank you Shannon for your demostration
Great video! I've been involve in construction ever since I was old enough to work without mashing a thumb. Although I haven't ever done siding before I'm very confident I could do it without any problems after watching your videos.
Siding is easy. hardest part is to miter a bunch of J channel under elaborate Ceilings of patios. Sometimes you gotta angle a piece and such. that's soffit, not siding btw.
great video.i appreciate your willingness to help others.keep up the good work
Thanks for the video. Sided my shed with the help from your videos. Looks great. Wish I could show pics!
Shannon - You're information is very helpful! Thank you and I look forward to viewing more of your videos. Thank you!

Thank you sir grateful i found this.
Thank you for bringing us along.
there is a much more easy way to do this buddy. I have 20 years at this stuff and I just want you to know you could do it a lot faster and a lot easier..but for those who need help it's a good video.
i always go by shannon advice, i did a friends house and a part wasnt level.. cause of easy movement i started my own level as i went along great video
I love you'r videos man you have helped me so much thanks for making these videos bro.
Thank you for the video. That was a good idea to tack on that small piece at the peak. I'm thinking that installing a similar piece on each side of that last piece will also help to keep it locked in place.
You have the most informative, clear and concise channel!!
Great demonstration! Thanks Shannon!
You're welcome, Lyle.

I printed the ass end of a Bentley and stuck it in my garage. Now all my neighbors hate me because I wouldn't give them a ride.
at about 10:00 mins is the most brilliant and accurate way to find the angle. thanks for the great tip.
No it's not, what you could do is measure your siding . example . If your siding measures 10in (height ) measure from the jchannel to the siding that's already installed to 10 (height) , put your tape straight exactly at 10 , then mark it. Okay next step. Measure to 20 exactly at 20 then mark it. Okay from the first mark to the last mark you made measure it . Let's say it's 24in in length , you measure a scrap piece of j or siding measure to 24in and cut it in half , length wise height wise maybe about 2in or doesn't matter just cut it, doesn't have to be exact either . Okay so you put that piece on the siding from the factory cut to wherever (the piece you made ends) put it under the furring and boom. That's your angle buddy. It seems complicated because I'm saying it without you seeing how it's done but if your interested in this kind of stuff message me or sub me and I'll make a video just for you 👍🏻
actually it really is easier at 10 mins. i guess not understanding how it works. at 14-1/8" marks the point at which when the siding is popped in is 11-5/8" in height which I believe is the sized sizing he is using. Its really quite the most accurate way honestly. Its geometry. Pythagorean theorem, ever heard of it? I understand what you are saying. You attach a piece, then take another piece, stick it in the angled j-channel and transfer the angle onto the horizontal clipped in piece. This might be faster but it is extremely inaccurate. Causes you to need to cut and trim. I had a kid who insisted on doing this method, claimed he was the almighty and would get it perfect every time. I told him you won't and what do you know. He had to fit it in place, trim, fit it in place, trim it. At least 3 times until he got it right. The method in the video is the method I support because you can't go wrong with it. If you like the transfer angle method and it works for you, then okay. But I am saying it is not totally accurate.

I use to do it that way to, now I do the first step n then use a scrap piece ,put it in the j channel n transfer the angle to the piece your going to use little quicker. Works for me!!
