Thanks you for posting this - I was not understanding other videos showing how to find angle with a speed square or other devices. This is very fast and simple, thanks for sharing your knowledge in a clear and concise way.
Gosh this is so simple it hurts. Was struggling with angles and math doing a shiplap project along and angled ceiling and this will work perfectly while saving so much time! (And probably be more accurate😂)
Your making your angle cuts way harder than need be. Just use a shot piece, tuck it up in the j channel or up to the drip edge over another piece lock in place and slid over under then mark off the top piece, easy ! Siding contractor here since 1972.
Doing a siding job on a 1955 house I am selling….what keeps the wind from blowing out that sharp corner in the angled j-channel? I had a 16” section of siding blow out on a similar location/angled j channel. Thanks
You need to make sure the piece is fully locked and at least double the length of the angle so you have some nailstrip. You can also silicone the laps on smaller pieces
That’s one of several simple ways to do it. Most guys will take a piece set to the roof angle and mark it off on a short piece so you can make a pattern for cutting several pieces saves a lot of time cutting a few at a time
Your the man!. Thank you!. When you took that measurement from left to right. Did you run the tape measure uptight to the j or did you leave a little gap to find that 30 inch measurements.

No problem, I try to keep things simple.
You did an awesome job simplifying this. Thanks!
I'm doing a garage rn and I was correct with the way you were measuring but when you said the bottom was your offset it opened my eyes thank you
Thanks for watching!

Man!! I was getting mad at myself was bout to throw ME off the damn roof I was so irritated thank you bro lol
Just the same reason I was watching.

A year late but this really is the easiest way. Carry on with your shot piece to scribe your next cuts.
What's a shot piece?🤔
@@erikcaldwell2913 I’m assuming he meant like a scrap piece of siding. I just said shot because he did lol.
@@erikcaldwell2913 lol….short piece

Installing siding with my husband this weekend. You just saved my marriage lol
Glad I could help
Did yall make it?
@@mattflynn9829 praise the siding God's, we did! Haha
Speed square works too. Cool trick

@@Lifes_Apprentice thanks for the info! Previous owner passed away and the kids just slapped on items
Great video boss
I have wood siding but this was soooo helpful!!!
Glad it was helpful!
I knew there had to be an easier way. Thank you!!!
your welcome!
Sooooo simple. Awesome video
Glad it was helpful
Nice little trick!! I like it
Pro tip! Gonna save me a ton of time.

That works great too!
@@Lifes_Apprentice we all have our ways to get the job done and have it look good
Definitely needed this video… Appreciate it 💪
No problem!!
@39 seconds dont you want a 1/4 inch space in there for expansion?
there is room for expansion at the lap
Your the man!. Thank you!. When you took that measurement from left to right. Did you run the tape measure uptight to the j or did you leave a little gap to find that 30 inch measurements.
i measure it tight and just use the room within the lap to leave a gap

Good info! Thanks 👍🏻
I thought you said 3 inch overlap, If that is vinyl why 3 inch over lap ??
Nice work man!
Thanks!
How can i get high(like 40 foot) and do this without scaffolding?
Thanks!!
You bet!
i tired this method did the same way and its off everytime >:( not sure whats wrong
Are you figuring the nail strip in on the angle?
Why not measure up 9. 1/4 from where it snaps in to the jay channel the mark where that is down to where the angles ends
you can do that but this is accomplishing the same thing
Oh yeah you right 😂
Thanks
Yep Hang siding not nail it 👍 . Over nailing that flange without spacing really makes the panel useless .
yes sir!!
How do you nail when it’s a trailer house and there’s only fiber board on it?
Incognito Nunyabuisness You nail on the studs of the wall .
HHProgressiveconstruction what if your stud doesn’t line up in the middle of the nailer?
Just pointing out an exception to the rule.
Or use a square and a level
This is the hard way (time is money )
Takes 2 pieces of siding and no tape at all for the angle. Your angle becomes a template.
You are 100 percent right! I have been a siding contractor since 1972
Your method was my old way, which is good. But if I could show you how to cut your time down by 50% it's better.
Your way is just so much more time consuming and difficult
compared to what?
You’d have a lot more views if you didn’t talk down to your audience. You’re making videos for beginners
anyone can do that
Vinyl siding is crap
ok
There's a way easier way
