Not a bad thing to place on a baton, especially when you have a machete wielding attacker. I've served as a Law Enforcement Instructor for Firearms, OC, Hand to Hand and Tactical Baton. Unfortunately, all you were able to do against a knife user in a training scenario is block....as you had no training baton w/a handguard. I've found a baton to be one of the most effective LE weapons for combat scenarios within arms reach. When I used two I employ them as I would two short swords or w/one folded along my support-side forearm while the strong-side is poised to strike....two expandable PR-24's would be ideal but w/ Tactical Batons the support-side holds one in "reverse grip".
I'd be interested in any more ? I'm a keen Swordsman but trying to research and retain as much information about , walking stick, staffs, alternative fighting techniques. Military police videos are a excellent source of ideas."come along".
Baton works as an extension of your arm, it is an excellent self-defense weapon, your goal is to hit any other body as fast and as hard as you can to stop the other party from attacking you. Of course, you need to have the muscle and some experience to use it.
I really fail to see how you can implicate you are evaluating the self defense capability of a weapon when your evaluation style is so severely biased by what I have no doubt is your very well exercised practice of kenjutsu. The way the knife is being wielded would make any army instructor from any nation cringe to see the base grip flailing slice style. And to see a baton used to defend against that flailing with range mauling side parries is completely unbelievable. I understand that you were attempting to demonstrate the weapon only in a defensive role but sadly I believe you have enfolded how those weapons are more commonly used into the confines of the body motions more reflective of your sport and woefully negligent of actual self defense maneuvers. I believe a little research and practice of knife use as well as baton use in self defense scenarios would make for a far more realistic demonstration and evaluation of the efficacy of the weapon(s).
I had an idea for an easy carry Buckler shield, just extend the handle outward a little more than make a belt holster where you could just slide the handle inside with maybe a strap holding it in. I think it's good idea.
If you are only blocking trying to catch the blade of the knife with the baton of course you will get hit, I get this was a sparring test but the techniques and focus were wrong. This is a blunt weapon is meant to break bones, do not try to block something so small as a knife, strike it instead, aiming at the hand or arm that holds it, and keep your distance you have a longer reach.
Proof is maked... that the defender always looses... of course because to win you must attack... Attack with the baton on the knife holder and he looses...
Problem is ur trying to use it as a sword in the wrong range…is a tool that should be used to destroy ur opponents hand thereby nullifying the attack…defanging the snake as said in kali/escrimia, then striking hamstring and thighs to put opponent down, as the woman was doing with the knife…destroy the hand
against a knife attacker, I usually switch into my fencing mode (I was a fencer in my youthness, sabre). Use the tip to keep the enemy at distance and smash him if he try to close the distance.
Any guard is going to offer some protection for the hand, but these situations are why many more modern militaries (and even civilians) started adopting complex hilts, like basket hilts. This even included the shin gunto carried by 18th century Japanese soldiers.
But the Baton guy is only defeniding, while the Knife Girl, is only Ataciyng,, if the girl was ave a armour then the bton guy will be defence and Atack.

Well, no weapon would work unless you put it to use!! Even a shield which is meant to block is also used to push back or hit when opportunity presents itself!!

Attacking without fear of a counter allowed her to make attacks she couldn't otherwise make without sacrificing her own defense. I understand the point was to show how the guard allowed for several more blocks/deflections than the unguarded baton. Given a near infinitesimal chance that you can defend yourself via baton (both situation and focused enough that if the situation occurs, one can utilize it), the guard does seem to greatly increase the protection. I'm not sure that trying self defense won't get someone in more danger, but hey, guard vs. No guard, go with guard at a similar price.
Why would you not be able to defend yourself with a baton? This guard is unnecessary and will only catch on something, slowing deployment plus the extra wasted split second to deploy the second "quillon." Moreover it is too big - harder to carry and conceal. I also ALWAYS have something for my other hand - pepper spray or something stabby-stabby ... depending on my mood ...
The problem with trying to defend yourself with a baton is that if the person is jebbing at you especially with a large knife 🗡️ they will cut or stab you while you are trist to fend off the attack and a expandable baton will always clasped in it self when hit hard, better off with a solid baton for better striking with a one or two hand hold for lower body impact strikes..
Where I live batons are illegal so are clubs, swords, katanas, bats, blackjacks, brass knockels, broom handles, pointed sticks, ice picks, pocket knifes and bricks just to name a few. That's why we carry guns they are literally the only legal weapons we can carry.
The only problem i see is he is using it like a sword and parrying the attack which shows and opens up his defending hand, id like to see if he tried keeping the tip pointed at her and using the guard that way, thanks for the vid!
Saw a very thin three section steel walking stick today 👀🤔. Almost looked like a "tactical baton". L- shap small grip / possible hammer point. Rubber base ( possible hidden point /ice pick point for use in ice ). If this is spring actived ? It's an excellent walking aid could be legal because the design is aimed at a mobility aid. I'd welcome it instead of carrying a stick that can scare dogs and I may not need it but it's in my hand (in my way )
of course it is hard to block a small knife with a large bulky object. harder to swing and counter for one, the knife wielder can move faster and stop and change directions much easier and faster. hence why they train you to go after the arm rather then try to stop the knife or deflect it as 99.99% of the time you get cut if you do, where as dodge the knife attack and going after arm lowers risk of being cut. may still get cut but you then have a high chance of disarming them and ending the fight before more cuts/stabs that put you down take place. best bet is to keep your distance against a knife if you don't have a firearm or ranged taster/prepper spray. using a baton best to also go for the arm to get them to drop the knife. a good hit to the arm anywhere really will cause almost anyone to drop the knife and attempt to shield the wounded arm. unless you go around wearing gauntlets and gloves that cannot be cut/stabbed through try to avoid knifes, go for arm if you cannot avoid.
You're just defending against knife cuts that would not otherwise cut you. Probably nothing much wrong with the baton, but not meant to be used like a sword. A decent stick and some skill would probably be more effective and cheaper.
The baton isn't meant to be used as a sword. You're not meant to block knife attack that way. What does this teach? To just make assumptions without even trying to learn what the baton was designed to do. Why not even attempt to learn proper usage as they do with swords?
Is there a reason for why you don't link or mention where the items you review can be purchased from? I can understand there being some restrictions on something like a sword but surely a baton wouldn't be a problem with the vast majority of countries? Great video, I am very happy to have subscribed to your channel.
As someone who does Kali, I feel like the crossguard would actually be in a hinderance, and result in the inability to do certain locks, as well as make it easier for the attacker to wrestle the baton away
I don't know Kali, but I would think not having a blade poses the same problem as a hand guard. I'm curious to hear your reasoning for thinking its worse.
@@bowleggedbear The two main reasons are that in terms of knife attacks, the blade is so short that it can maneuver around the cross guard making it harder to catch regardless due to the range, and that techniques used for arm bars that would be used to immobilize the attacker (assuming you aren't going to do the smart thing of using the distance and striking the fingers) requires that the baton be laying mostly flat. The crossguard would act as a fulcrum/raised point allowing the attacker to slip/roll out of the lock.
But i dont think so... every korean police's baton has cross guard. Almost korea criminal suspect using knife to attack. Because we cant have gun. So police always fight with knife. And actually that cross guard worked well. It could protect many cops hands and fingers
@@Deathbystrudel I think you underestimate the striking power of a baton, and the speed. A dagger can maneuver for sure, but only when it's in range. The cross guard helps make a point forward defense more viable with a baton, helping to make good use of the range.

Love the way you laugh when he attempted to strike you with musashi style
Sometimes you guys are funny but it's always interesting material that you cover.
I think it's good idea.
get a job
@@myonionsmatter7843 I've worked since I was 15 asshole.
As a RUclips product tester myself, this was exactly the video I was looking for to see if I want to buy and test one myself.
1:02 I remember when I saw Jurassic Wars. Tears of nostalgia. The laser rex was terrifying.
Well... A baton isn't a shield is it? You're better off just swinging at the knife attacker if they get close. Make the baton their problem.
The longer the stronger. The shorter the more dangerous. 一寸長一寸強 一寸短一寸險。
I think she may not be fighting in many of the videos of the channel, but she is really skillful.
The WoW nerd reference, hahah, nice humor on this channel about weapons lol.
You two are great!
against a knife attacker, I usually switch into my fencing mode (I was a fencer in my youthness, sabre).
Use the tip to keep the enemy at distance and smash him if he try to close the distance.
exaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaactly
Any guard is going to offer some protection for the hand, but these situations are why many more modern militaries (and even civilians) started adopting complex hilts, like basket hilts. This even included the shin gunto carried by 18th century Japanese soldiers.
She NEVER breaks eye contact. ugh the cuteness.
"WHO IS KATE AND WHY IS SHE MESSAGING YOU?!"
"calm down! she's my sister!"
Weapon: Baton
Type: Club
User: proceed to use it to block everything as if it is an artillery shield
The Baton makes such a pretty sound when you open it.
At least it is better than bare hands. Was the sword near the end from Royal Armouries in Leeds?
But the Baton guy is only defeniding, while the Knife Girl, is only Ataciyng,, if the girl was ave a armour then the bton guy will be defence and Atack.
LOL I think better to use barton for offense than defense😂
The baton is most effective when you equip a group with them to beat up a man that's lying on the ground, half unconscious.
Can the group wear uniforms and tazer the man at the same time?
If so, I'm in!
Jajajaja
One thing that would be really cool is to go through the song in its entirety one more time after breaking down all the parts to see how it all fits together.
That looks like it'd be a fun thing to use. You can get real nerdy, really quick.
I don't know the context of what they're testing. But to get a better review of the baton, they better ask opinion from a HEMA practitioner and the practitioners of FMA, Krabi krabong or Pencak Silat.
I love the Uther shoutout.
“Those who only defend, miss the opportunity to attack.” 🥋
Just found your channel i will be watching taking in youre knowledge She got the snake bite down she got you're hands a few times hope you two have a productive New Year
Always on defense, cut you will always be. Musashi and Miyagi. Parry and smash her collar bone, and you win. Attack her hand and head and you win faster.
Yes. Parry and then break your wife's collarbone. That's how you win.
You actually would find some similar jitte in the past, this kind of looks like a modern version to me.
Can you publish a link to buy those fantastic batons?
Could you test boleadoras? It has a similar use to rope and javelin, in the case of the set of three with strings attached (South American Creole fencing) or double meteor hammer, in the case of the individual ball, used in each hand (Argentine dance with boleadoras).
👍
Well, no weapon would work unless you put it to use!! Even a shield which is meant to block is also used to push back or hit when opportunity presents itself!!
Illegal to possess one here in England!
Perhaps surprisingly, also illegal (to carry) in many municipalities in the US. ='[.]'=
if an untrained person hits someone on the head with these they die ... and since lethal weapons are illegal that makes sense ... use a strong flashlight tazer and its waaaay better than a batton .
Gov does not want us to have fun. At least in the USA we have the second amendment. I think it should apply to swords, batons and knives. If we can carry a gun, restricting knives is just being a killjoy.
where's the link to buy?
I saw another video in which a navy seal said if he encounters a crazy guy with a knife, he'd run. This video perfectly demonstrates why 🤣
Nice video, you guy should try looking up Arnis, eskrima or any of the other southeastern Asian styles.
Please put the product link

The best way to solve couple's quarrels, with a sword fight! 😏
True true, even tho i tend to do Judo or kicking randori (basically Taekwondo) for that
Had to sub after the first 30 seconds
Attacking without fear of a counter allowed her to make attacks she couldn't otherwise make without sacrificing her own defense. I understand the point was to show how the guard allowed for several more blocks/deflections than the unguarded baton. It's improbable that someone with a knife would see the person with a baton and continue the fight. The double baton and kendo swords... well in Japan it'd make sense but not in Texas. 🥷🦯🔫🤠
If you have a baton against a knife wielder simply attack the hand.
Чувак просто стоит и машет палкой пока тяночка прыгает и изображает из себя мега-нинзю, вместо того, чтобы вытянуть руку с дубинкой и не дать подойти к себе впринципе
A good defensive technique when using that baton against a knife is utilize the baton's longer length and hit the knife wielder.
Yeah, he totally should have cracked his spouse against her exposed skull during thier defense demonstration. How else will we tell the effectiveness of the guard?
@@GiggaGMikeE protective gear...
one simple question please... in real fight since when longer weapons or even people will go defense mode, girls are great but in real fight we use fist, kick, head even bite our opponents... well that's just my opinion lol
I know it's not in the original form, however a Kevlar glove and arm guards will help block the strikes from the knife and take it from her.
Странные японцы какие-то. На тебя идет человек с ножом и ты не можешь его бить палкой по голове/рукам/корпусу? Зачем тогда тебе палка?
Seriously??try give me the bataon & lets have a try with me..
That would be a pretty messy encounter irl
This girl is seriously dangerous with knives and swords... but even more dangerous is her incredible beauty!! 😍
If he forgot their anniversary then this was therapeutic for her.
Every house should have one of these kits (rubber knives, armor and baton) toilet off some steam.
@@kaoskronostyche9939I take it a bad mood means the stabby stabby? 😂
Not sure how "self defense would get someone in more danger".
You're already in danger.
That's why you're resorting to self defense.
@@wanderingcalamity360 The most peerless form of self defense is running away. Probably what he's referring to.
If you are a master of any fight you are disappointing, you are using the stick as a sword, you don't fight like that with a stick.
Where I live batons are illegal so are clubs, swords, katanas, bats, blackjacks, brass knockels, broom handles, pointed sticks, ice picks, pocket knifes and bricks just to name a few. That's why we carry guns they are literally the only legal weapons we can carry.
lesson learned. dont be on the defensive always strike first.
We need a basket hilt baton next
This is Nice Weapon...i am from Malaysia 🇲🇾❤️🇯🇵
While I'm not sure how useful that would be, the baton does look awesome 😎.
The only problem i see is he is using it like a sword and parrying the attack which shows and opens up his defending hand, id like to see if he tried keeping the tip pointed at her and using the guard that way, thanks for the vid!
Reminds me of Corvo Attano's sword
Saw a very thin three section steel walking stick today 👀🤔. Almost looked like a "tactical baton".
L- shap small grip / possible hammer point. Rubber base ( possible hidden point /ice pick point for use in ice ).
If this is spring actived ? It's an excellent walking aid could be legal because the design is aimed at a mobility aid.
I'd welcome it instead of carrying a stick that can scare dogs and I may not need it but it's in my hand (in my way )
where do you get these 'lockable' batons in the video to buy?
Is there a website for the expandable baton with hand guard?
And God say "I'll inspire to swordsmiths in Europe to put a proper handguard on his weapons" 🤣
of course it is hard to block a small knife with a large bulky object. harder to swing and counter for one, the knife wielder can move faster and stop and change directions much easier and faster. hence why they train you to go after the arm rather then try to stop the knife or deflect it as 99.99% of the time you get cut if you do, where as dodge the knife attack and going after arm lowers risk of being cut. may still get cut but you then have a high chance of disarming them and ending the fight before more cuts/stabs that put you down take place. best bet is to keep your distance against a knife if you don't have a firearm or ranged taster/prepper spray.
using a baton best to also go for the arm to get them to drop the knife. a good hit to the arm anywhere really will cause almost anyone to drop the knife and attempt to shield the wounded arm. unless you go around wearing gauntlets and gloves that cannot be cut/stabbed through try to avoid knifes, go for arm if you cannot avoid.
Thanks for sharing.
Tactical batons in America don't look like that. Yours looks like a sword. Excellent review.
She is dangerous lady 😂
For serious ;)
Ali express used to stock them
What i learned from Kage no Jitsuryokusha ni Naritakute! is that 2 crowbars works far better as a defence weapon and you can hide them pretty easly
Any self defense is great, but the best self defense in a knife fight, is just to run away!
if i use that stick. i rather use it inverted. that handguard are very effective for crushing a skull or a bone
