Your reasoning for the Fenix 6 is very similar to mine. Something like a Galaxy watch wouldnt work for me as i spend a lot of time outdoors. A 5 button layout, MIP screen for high readability in sunlight and a battery life thats long enough I dont need to worry about bringing a cable on a weeklong camping trip where all what drew me to Garmin. Originally I was going to get the Instinct 2 Solar, but the Fenix 6 had better mapping for the same price. I figured the sacrifice in battery life was worth it for more usable maps and i doubt the Solar would be all that useful anyway when Im always under trees.
Hard to go wrong with the Fenix 6. I am now using the 7 and have gone through various other devices but keep going back to the Fenix. Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment. The support is appreciated!
Thanks, clear and concise, but still a very personable easygoing presentation. Well done. My Fenix 6 Pro should be here next week. My old G Shock Solar is finally giving up the ghost, and this does so much more (except no tide table feature). I can always do tide tables the old fashioned way though.
@@Davercrooks Spoke too soon. Apparently you can find tide phases in the surf section. So, the next time I head out to British Columbia for some sea kayaking, I'll be able to check out the tide phase at my GPS location. My offhand comment about no tide function above prompted me to look. So, without even having my watch yet, I've figured out a new use. The G Shock figured out tide based on time zone and not GPS location - so Fenix is actually much more accurate. Thanks again.
I bought fenix 6 pro (not sapphire) yesterday. Great great watch. Tons of functions and customizations. Very happy with it. Also very good video. Kudos.
Thank you so much. It’s hard to wrong with the Fenix, especially when you can get it a little ‘cheaper’ - cheap being a relative term. Thanks for commenting and watching.
@@Davercrooks I know the watch isn't cheap, but you have to pay more for the best. Also I paid £309 for it two days ago in Argos, so I think it's a brilliant deal.
Hi great video ,i do have the fenix 6 pro as well not bad tho with alot of features..keep us posted with more videos on the fenix 6 pro i would love to change the battery tho I'm looking for a bigger one I guess a 600 mah 😁seen someone do it and it worked out fine too...anyway thanks hope we see more good info from you.thanks 😊
Great equipment. Tell me, did you put a protective film on the display? You say that you have been using it for quite a long time, hence my question whether it makes sense to stick a protective glass on the display.
@@Davercrooks I have the regular 6x solar version with gorilla glass. I hope nothing will happen because here in Poland they even cover watches with sapphire glass with foil ;)
Hey mate with the maps if you not on a trail an decide to go for a walk through the bush can you mark an save were you have been walking an then find your way back to were you started thanks
Would this watch be great for tracking your spot in the wilderness? Im rather new to hiking where im several days away from everything and its usually really poor signal to track my position with Phone. I always carry physical map and compass with me but i really want to have a way to track my position for the worst case scenario if that was to happen. Im might be fine with cheaper Basic GPS tracker but a watch like this would be more useful in other ways
The pro version would be. It has built in mapping and in addition to a physical map and compass, you should have most bases covered. It does not enable you to contact emergency services like a rescue beacon though (like a Garmin inReach). Thanks for watching.
Depending on where you are (with buildings, etc) it’s still pretty quick. Not as fast as an Apple Watch surprisingly or a newer Garmin, but usually within 10 seconds (for me).
@@Davercrooks thanks for the reply Dave! I am debating buying one of these since they are so cheap now. Still is an amazing watch and I love the look. I have a forerunner 955 but want a bigger watch that looks more premium because I work in sales
I have not had the Instinct and they are different watches from the Fenix line. It depends on what you want in a device. The Fenix will give better battery life, maps and tough unit. Instinct will be lighter, better screen. For my use case, I go Fenix every single time. I hope this helps.
Sorry, my mistake. I was thinking of the venu. The instinct is a good watch and it is lighter, but I like the overall bill quality and the battery life of the Fenix. I have a good friend with the original instinct and he really likes it so you probably can’t go wrong with it either.
Great review. I have a vivoactive 4 and I rely heavily on feeling the vibration. On my watch it is strong. Perfect. Please tell me that the vibration on the fenix 6 pro is strong. I have also read some reviews about the vibration being defective.
This has been one of the best reviews I've seen over the watch, thanks for the detailed and honest review.
Thank you so much. It helps when you pay for these things yourself and have no commission or loyalty to anyone. Thanks for watching.

Do u think the fenix 6 or 6 pro are still worth buying even tho the fenix 7 is out
Absolutely. Especially with some of the deals that you can find. I have the 7x now as I wanted a larger screen, but the 6pro was still excellent

This is a military watch. In fact, most people in the army/military use Garmin watches nowadays
