Probably not enough in the 7 to make me want to upgrade from my 6 but I would go for the 7 if I was buying a Fenix for the first time. Thanks for the great comparison video; great job as always!
same thoughts here. The mrs garmin has a touch screen and its a nightmare, she often turns off her runs, or struggles to get it going. Just something else to think about while out running isn't needed. The 6 is pretty much the top end watch, it will be hard for garmin to top.
I think the same. It’s not a significant change or upgrade…but if the flashlight would be a built in mini projector to be able watching movies in summertime during camping…🤔😂
I gotta say, the setup of you three discussing the features really blew me away. It’s so simple but still effective to have just three people with different experiences and perspectives weighing the facts, what really makes this video a 20 out of 10. I wish this idea was more common, I’m even considering making my own channel now, because the concept is so beautiful. Apart from that: Great review. I own a fenix 6s pro solar and I don’t think I’m gonna upgrade. Maybe, when the fenix 8 or 9 hit the market, I will but mine works perfectly. For sure I will envy everyone with a 7 for battery life and gps accuracy (I got mine for mountaineering and when walking back a track on a glacier in fog it would be really helpful to know you’re less then 1m away from your ascent route). But it’ll do it’s Job never the less. Thanks for your input!
Brilliant!! Love the real life experience of battery life, especially comparing it to the Enduro. That’s what I’ve been searching so many videos for over the last few days.
Interesting thanks guys! My Fenix 5 battery just died, so shopping around. The Fenix 6 Pro is now on offer at £299.99 and the cheapest Fenix 7 Standard is £570 so it feels like the jump of £270 isn’t worth it given what you discussed? Albeit touch screen and better battery could be a deal breaker. Andy
Great point about the touchscreen, they really can be a nuisance, especially when it's raining outside. Was thinking of waiting for a Garmin Tactix Delta in touchscreen but will just get it now instead
Quick screen diameter size question vs Fenix 7 solar: Is the screen diameter on the Fenix 7 and 7X solar versions measured from inside the solar strip or does the diameter measurement include the solar strip? In other words is the actual viewable screen size of the 7X less than 1.4″ because of the solar strip, in practical terms making it more like the 1.3" on the Epix or regular 7? (Trying to decide between the Epix and 7X, want the Epix but value screen size above all - although it seems like they might be the same depending on how they’re measured?)
I know most legacy F6 users (and most Garmin users overall) tend to scoff at touch function, and there IS some validity to that, BUT - having used various Garmin touch devices in the past (old original VA and also VA3) as well as 235, 645 and now my F6 Pro Solar - there are parts of the interface where touch IS faster and easier to use than endless buttons and such. But most will dismiss touch as having much value without ever having tried it. That said - I’d touch enough to go from a Fenix 6 to a 7? Probably not. But the Epix FOR SURE is an excellent upgrade to an F6 and is the one that’s going to get my money.
I can't believe how little is added in the 7 series compared to the 6 pro/Sapphire series.... I'll stick with my Fenix 6x Sapphire BLK DLC... Thanks guys... 🙂👍
@@bodyemcal I think the torch is gimmicky... and looks really cheap... the bezel has no screws other than on the lugs, so the rest is glued... Its the same watch as ours with a touch screen I'd never use, with a couple of software tweaks and duel GPS chip.... No worth another £900 for this lol.
How much faster is the Fenix 7 over the 6 if you want to look about the map? Lets say I want to look at a location 5 miles away is it going to take me a minute or two to inch my way over there with a Fenix 6 while it just takes me 10 seconds with the Fenix 7?
Great review gentlemen! I really had my fingers crossed for LTE so that I can leave my phone when running races. As far as GPS accuracy, I've used Stryd since 2019 so most times I don't even activate GPS tracking. I am actually glad that I wont be upgrading my 6x Sapphire. lol That $999 will now be reallocayed to cover some of my Berlin trip in September.
I need your help! What do you think should i pick. The Garmin 6X Pro for 330€ or the Garmin 7 (base Model) for 470€. Both on discount. I ask myself if the 16GB on the Fenix 7 base model is not enough? Do you think the 6X Pro ist the better option? Greetings from Germany :)
1. Is it any better on pace with tree cover as the 6X is disappointing 2.Does the Altimeter update actually help with the constant need to reset it as the maps DEM doesn’t seem to adjust during usage
Mam 6 sapphire i 5x plus i po długim używaniu bardziej odpowiada mi 5x plus , 7 raczej nie kupię i poczekam na 8 ale boję się że będzie za bardzo podobna do Apple
In December I sold my 2 year old 6x and purchased the 6 titanium solar with titanium band on sale for just 50€ more. I was wondering if I should switch to the 7 now… but I really don’t like the bigger solar ring on either of them (design wise)… At this point not worth to pay double than what I payed for the current one. Thanks for the review.
Is there any differences between the colour/contrast on the screens? One of the disappointing things for me on the Fenix6X Pro Solar was that the colour on the screen is very hard to distinguish, certainly not as obvious as Garmins screenshots show - has that improved at all with the 7?
@@davidjgrant23 Yeah, I get the feeling the Solar/Sapphire version of the 6 have less colour than the normal (though I've not seen them to compare). The Epix does look like a whole different level, but I'm not convinced I would want to sacrifice any battery life now I've gotten used to it! :)
What would be the longevity of the watch? I have to spend a lot to buy it and want to pass this to my kids as a heirloom, is it possible? lol. You get my point right? I don't want to upgrade after every 4 years or so. I can justify the purchase only if I can use it for at least 10 years. Is it possible at all?
Stamina is not coming to the F6. What's coming is: - SkiView Ski maps (with the new resort/runs/XC ski trails features) - Health Snapshot (including HRV data) - Run/Walk/Stand Detection (in a workout) - HIIT 2.0 Activity profiles and Workouts - Better PulseOx error handling and spot checks
I'm so glad the 7 will finally have touch screen. I have the 6 plus and it is a pain in the ass to use... and so non intuitive. Seriously whoever designed the functionality is not the sharpest tool in the shed. For non touch screen every function should be under just one button tab... so when you click on it it's all there then you could drill down draper into each... but it's spread all over. I really can't stand this watch... other than the GPS function... which is still a pain in the ass to use... but if you can get it to work right it will help you to not get lost in the wilderness. It's so much easier to use a navigator on a touch screen phone such as ONX when hunting back woods. You just click a couple things and good to go but on this no touch screen watch it's painful. Would I pay double for the 7. No because im not going to pay $600 for any watch... so guess I'll suffer with the 6 pro that I bought for $250... but I'd take the 7 over this any day for touch screen option...
Really good video thank you guys. I’m walking the Pyrenees haute route (HRP) this summer and want extra navigation. It’s a 850km route which I have the gpx file for. My question is, will the 6 pro fit the whole route onto it? And will the mappings be good enough to follow? Or will I need the 7 with extra memory to fit the whole gpx file? Thanks again George
I just bought a 6x Pro at a nice discount. Coming from an iWatch the touch screen would be very familiar, but not enough to be worth the extra cost. It comes tomorrow, so we'll see...
Exactly what I was thinking. I have a Fenix 5 Sapphire and a Instinct 2s Solar. I use chest bands for excersices so the heart sensor upgrade and touch does not make me want to upgrade my Fenix 5 for now. Also, I have the mew HR sensor on Instinct 2 so I will wait for 8 or a discount for 7 Sapphire Solar. :)
my dad upgraded from a fenix 3 to a fenix 7 pro and i got his fenix 3 but it then broke and we sent it in and they said that they cant fix it so they sent us a fenix 6 pro solar and now i upgraded from a fenix 3 to a fenix 6 and my dad is now furious because he saved for 10 years to get that watch and i just get one for free

The touchscreen is the bit that would worry me the most for exactly the reasons you gave. So easy to accidentally turn off your activity!

There’s a huge difference on the epix. But to me the 7 vs 6 is the same. I don’t think the sapphire helps as it’s more reflective vs the normal glass.
