The Runner! I remember him from Quasar. He called for all the fastest heroes to race, no stakes, just a pure competition. The winner is a streak of red lightning, that comes out of nowhere, and runs the entire race ahead of everyone. It was the anniversary of the Silver Age and Barry Allen.
They should have made the Contest of Champions a FIFA World Cup tie-in instead, in that scenario no one would be surprised about an atrocious referee decision.
Well, Thanos _is_ a Darkseid knock off. Although I much prefer his obsession with the anthropomorphic representation of death to Darkseid's anti-life equation.
I don't know. I think Thanos's obsession with the representation of death comes off as a bit...pathetic, for lack of better words. When I read the Infinity Gauntlet, Thanos came off as one of those guys who refuses to accept the girl he's into just isn't into him.@@boobah5643
9:45 Ooof not the brightest spot on Wolverine’s illustrious career. Maybe just a sign of how Wolverine is very very old and has a hard time keeping up with modern sensibilities?
I don't think they thought about it and just figured "it worked for Black Bolt so why not Black Panther?". I haven't heard of Wolverine ever being shown as racist.
Comics were written differently back then. This is how a character is moved forward - the hero goes through an ordeal with a clear ending that easily leads into the new tale. Now writers just want to throw the status quo out the window and make things as different as possible, forcing the next writer to reset everything so they could tell their own stories.
@@L1701 I've learned that lately editors have more control over story to the points some writers just contribute dialogue. But the stories are getting lazier. Conflicts are lazily justified with heroes either so out of character that they may as well be OCs or ignore simple solutions.
Yeah, somebody should have told Donny Cates that killing Galactus can have dire consequences for the universe. And don't get me started on Brian Bendis and Jason Aaron.
@@MinscFromBaldursGate92 Bendis can't even follow his own continuity. I don't know if it's because he was doing close to four books a month but he gets details wrong all the time. But what gets me is the X-Men. I'm a long-time fan. A couple weeks ago I picked up the first 50 issues of X-Men Classics at my local shop and nearly everything setup in the old Claremont/Bryne run has been retconned multiple times.
I mean that's a stretch. nobody has ever used 'blacky' as a slur.. darkie, sure. There are a whole lot worse insults and words than that he could have inadvertently used. it's more just.. funny. I wonder if maybe Wolverine doesn't know he's actually black under there, and assumes he's called black panther because of his outfit. I mean yeah he has super senses but he's also Canadian...
Yeah, but then you would have had to somehow figure out how to fit three bribery and two naughty scandals into it, and they didn't have that kind of time.
Marvel cosmic stuff is interesting even though I wasn’t really into marvel cosmic stuff growing up, mostly because i personally like the street level characters like Spider-Man and the x-men to to tell you the truth even more then marvel cosmic stuff at least in my opinion.
I wouldn't describe the X-Men as 'street level.' Mind, they're not cosmic, either, despite their dalliances with the Shi'ar, and they're certainly not at the cosmic power level, excepting Phoenix in some of her less stable moments.
@@boobah5643It can be argued that, like the Avengers, the X-Men are a bit of a “glue” or “go-between” when it comes to Earth and the cosmos. They have touched the cosmic (The Phoenix/Dark Phoenix Sagas) and have teamed up with “street-level” heroes like Spider-Man.

Chuck: "Marvel is desperately hoping the audience doesn't know how to add!"
Also Chuck: * put 'Part 3' in the title screen of part 4 of this series *

*Buried Alien.

You see, this wouldn't have happened if Valve had been hosting this event. They wouldn't have been able to count to three.
This has been a fascinating look into Marvel Cosmic stuff for me. Always been curious about certain characters and this has been helpful
"That Skrull, who took a *shine* to that form..."
Heh.

10:00 Being completely fair to Wolverine, the panel with Black Panther's eyes it looks like he's decided to be white for this issue
What a wild ride it has been so far.
At least Shamrock has the right number of leaves... pretty rare for a US pop culture representation of Ireland😅
It's a pity so many people dismiss Thanos as a Darkseid knock off or as Jim Starlin's mary sue.
agreed

Bruh moment.
I do recall he did call Sunfire a “jap” in the debut of second genesis.
The man has no restrictions for race.

Blaming it all on writers is a bit unfair, IMO. You also have editors who are unwilling to give creators limits or play continuity cop.

I think it just sounds wrong because of modern sensitivities...even so.
YES!!
I just put in a load of laundry sat down & bang!! Just in time.
Hey Chuck could you recommend a reading list for cosmic stuff
Anything by Starlin or Abnett/Lanning.
Ignore everything else
Contest of Champions sure was. . .some comics.
Yeah, but then you would have had to somehow figure out how to fit three bribery and two naughty scandals into it, and they didn't have that kind of time.
I feel like the MCU might bring back the Obliterator, but as like a minor antagonist for Rocket or someone else to make fun of, like Taserface.
1 plus 2 plus 2 plus 1 or 1 plus 1 plus 2 plus 1?
It's amazing how they fixate on the key without noticing that whoever has the key, by the same logic, also has the weapon.

"Contest of champions", I guess it was to early for Linkara to take part.

Probably. He's a big fan of SF Debris, and Chuck's made some cameos in his show.
