    Wow, this video is a year old! I hope this was helpful as we navigated food shortages or not being able to go to the store regularly at the beginning of the pandemic and also helpful now as you have discovered the ease of making these and how delicious they are! I haven't bought tortillas in so long! We'd love to have you subscribe and follow along with us as we share more recipes and our family life!

      Hello family, hi, I am a single guy, no children and have been an impromptu stand in nanny / grandparent for 2 boys I have zero relation to, or there 4 families, and I tell them and others often these last 6 years made the previous decades of my miserable life worth it, and God really does turn your sorrows into joy if you give Him the time. How I found your tortilla recipe was as the hired occasional cook here at the spa for the ladies, and laundry boy.. I saw that my boss was out of tortillas for the meal I had prepared, and I came here to thee you tube and what do you know, I saw your recipe, it was only 2 minutes, and I think that is important for me to recall as well in my videos no one watches about art and geopolitical self induced global problems. I noticed how simple it was, and similar to an authentic recipe I learned from authentic tortilla makers, minus the pork tallow, and in my heart I felt confident at the end of your video that I could make tortillas with what they had here, since the phony lines were full and we have too few people on the staff, so going to the store was impossible. It was nearly seamless to complete the meal and here is the 'cautionary part' of this true story from 2 days ago, it went too well, now she told me I need to cook ALL of the tortillas for the entire operation, for all the families from now on, and never buy them ever again, due to taste and texture.

    Add more flour if too sticky? So the measurements aren’t correct then, right?

    • @TheBabcocks
      @TheBabcocks  Год назад +1

      Yes. The measurements are correct but sometimes, depending on humidity, the kind of flour you have (a cheap white flour vs a good quality unbleached flour) and if you accidentally added a bit too much water, all these affect how sticky it is.

    You have to knead for at least 5 minutes. Then let rest under a damp cloth or plastic wrap for at least 15 minutes. Make sure the pan is super hot. The first one never comes out well, so roll out a small ball and use that as your tester.
    3 C flour (I use Selecta)
    2 tsp baking powder
    1 tsp salt
    4 - 6 tablespoon Crisco
    1 C (or more if needed) very HOT water
