Natasha, you are my favorite. I have been making soft flour tortillas since I was 9 or ten years old for about 8 people which means the bowl came above my elbows but they all loved my tortillas and now that I am going on 80 years old they still love them. I make them with crisco though and with baking powder in an iron skillet. You do a good job with butter though.
Crisco is the fast track to heartattackville. Butter is okay, but lard(make sure it is prepared correctly) is the way to make real tortillas. I am not sure where baking powder comes from. Not Mexico.
My grandmother use to make these all the time! When we would travel to visit her, it didn’t matter if we arrived at 3 am she would start cooking for us and she would always make tortillas ❤️ Cute to have sharky under towel!
Um, have I told you I love you? We eat tortillas every week and always think about making homemade tortillas… but we never do. You’ve shown me just how easy it is! Brb going to make all the homemade tortillas I possibly can. Thank you Natasha!! God bless you and your family ❤
@@latoyakauahuma8414 you absolutely can I recommend you insert parchment paper in between each tortilla and when you store try to make sure they are almost completely dry. But honestly there is a slim chance they will stay in your freezer long 😉
I’ve been making flour tortillas since I was 10, never tried with butter to be honest! Here for me the easiest way is FLOUR SALT AND CRISCO SHORTENING and hot water! Rest overnight and boom!!!! Perfect!!!! And never rolling, always handmade! In our own palms! Lol sorry I’m Latin American can’t help myself. Still LOVE YOU SO SO MUCH @NATASHA 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻❤️❤️❤️❤️

Thanks so much for this, I’ve just made a batch of perfectly soft and delicious tortillas (after a failed attempt following a different video!). Your precise instructions are excellent. For anyone in the UK I used a Breville pancake maker on maximum heat setting and checked temp. with an IR thermometer.

Thank you so much for elaborating just how thinly they need to be rolled out. After countless, thick cardboard recipes, finally the perfectly fluffy, soft, buttery results!!! Fantastic
Natasha, thanks so much for this recipe! Ive been trying to make soft tortillas at home but they always turned out tough with other recipes. I followed your recipe and the dough was so good (although i think i didnt put enough water, so i had to rest and roll the dough in 2 rounds) that i could roll it super thin! First few ones were too crunchy and broke since i used too high heat, but the ones following are so soft and pliable and taste waaaaayyyy better than store bought ones! This recipe’s def going to my holy grail recipe ❤️
I love how no one judged the way she made her tortillas.. I literally looked a couple of weeks ago if you had a tortilla recipe, flour specifically and you didn't. So glad you do now😊😊
I make them several times a week but I use shortening (others use lard) as we do in the North of Tamaulipas but I've made them with butter and they're just as good! She did an amazing job & I'm honestly impressed!
I have made them once since I'm from Michoacan we don't really make flour tortillas. I also used shortening. I'll have to try this recipe. Natasha is my go to for when I wanna to learn a new recipe.
Thank you! Thank you! I have a Mexican sister in law, and she always made her own tortilla shells. I was recently listening to a doctor on youtube who advised to not eat packaged food with more than 5 ingredients; the beginning of your video reminded me of that! 😄 Thanks again Natasha! I will make this recipe!
Love these, thank you so much! For those running on the metric system: FLOUR TORTILLA INGREDIENTS: ► 700 ml (3 cups) all-purpose flour, plus extra for rolling ► 7.5 ml (1 1/2 tsp) fine sea salt ► 5 ml (1 tsp) baking powder ► 75-90 g (5 Tbsp) unsalted butter, softened ► 250 ml (1 cup) hot water, or as needed to form a dough.
I use King Arthur's all purpose flour and on the nutrition facts it states 1/4 cup is equal to 30 grams, so 3 cups would be 360 grams for the brand I use. Since you used ml, it seems like you filled a glass pyrex measuring cup (or some other liquid measuring cup) to the 1 cup line and assumed it would weigh 250g, but a cup of flour weighs half as much as a cup of water (and this is not including the hydration of ~18% water content of the butter). 250 grams of water and 750 grams of flour is a 33% hydration dough and I don't think that's possible to knead since dough can range from 50-90% hydration by weight. You cannot rely on the liquid measurements (ml) lines to assume the weight of dry ingredients measured in the same cup. Ex1: 1 cup of dry pasta may be ~100 grams (and this depends on the shape of pasta since very small shapes will settle, fill, and therefore weight more per cup). Ex2: 1 cup of oil is liquid, yet when measured to the 240ml line, it weighs ~225g, since water is denser than oil. Cup measurements work and this recipe works, but you cannot convert the flour specifically the way you did, which seems to be without a scale.
ml stands for mililitre and is only used for liquids whereas g stands for grams which is used for solids. 1000ml = 1 litre and 1000g = kilo Mg are too small to use usually for baking or cooking but mg stands for milligrams which 1000 make 1g In saying all of that, what I usually do is use the cup measurements of American recipes and they also feature a gram amount (my measuring cups do) so I usually guide my liquid ingredients by those measurements if it’s savoury foods that don’t rely so much on exact baking scientific ratios. It usually works. For this recipe I used 100g of butter with the cup measurements she stated and it worked out fine. I also cheated by using a food processor for the dough.
Natasha, I tried a few recipes of Tortillas, but yours is the best, soft and yummy !! I made for a Pink lady, she loves it very much, I asked her to seal and freeze so she can enjoy it whenever she wanted. Thanks for the 500° temp. 1. I have an excuse to use my temp gun and 2. I like it more then when people say medium or medium low because every stove is different. Gonna try making these after work 😁
Just made these. I used ghee instead butter (the grocery store forgot to put it in my bag) and they came out fanstastic. I also rolled them out just a tiny bit thicker (that's how we roll in Texas). I have eaten many great tortillas from many highly skilled abuelas, but these are the best tasting flour torts that I have EVER eaten. I think I will stick to the ghee.

10/10 🥰 My favorite way to eat them is with breakfast, our breakfast is savory, scrambled eggs with potato, onion + tomato + chili, bacon or chorizo. Refried beans on the side and tortillas of course. You did such an amazing job! 🥰💜

Natasha!! I love and trust all your recipes, you haven’t failed me!! I was just telling my husband how I used to make tortillas as a little girl with my mom and that I’ve been really craving homemade tortillas!! This was my sign, thank you!!
Dear Natasha, Recently find your channel and Iove your recipes. You are so likeable and funny🤗 Never made tortillas, Will give it a try .Thank you for sharing 🌹 We do flat bread Lokše we mash potatoes or sweet potatoes, flour and psyllium instead of baking powder, psyllium absorb moisture and keep it soft and yumííí. Brush them with duck fat or melted butter. Traditionally we eat them with roasted Duck, Goose or filled with Duck Liver or Liver pate and roll + sauerkraut as a side dish. Sweet way : Spread Plum Jam on and top up with grind Poppy seeds mixed with little hot milk and roll. Spread Jam or Honey on and top up with grind Walnuts then roll. Jam and Sour cream
I’ve been making flour tortillas for several years with a recipe I thought was good…then tonight I made yours. Oh my what a difference. The guys were impressed. I also made the chicken fajitas, and they were delicious too.
Thank you for the video. I finally found the courage to make them and they came out amazing. The only draw back is controlling the urge to make them often.
Your videos are awesome. I love you already. I’ve been a chef for 25 years or like 35 years but your videos are fantastic. I love it. I’m gonna make your tortillas in a minute. We’ll see how they turn out. They’re gonna be awesome.
Great, simple video. Tasty too. Off subject: I always have a good thought for your family and friends in the old country. I hope they are safe and sound.
I’m a fan I appreciate you making this as a reminder of the process of making tortillas. I grew up always making them and we would make them to last for days and mind you I come from a big family. Unfortunately as I grew up and then married my husband had children I became lazy and would purchase the already made processed version since it was easier and honestly I kind of forgot to make them. Your simple 8-10 version has set me on the right path to remembering it. Gracias Natasha
Anything you can make at home is better than the stuff in the store. All stores stuff has additives, weird eyes, bleaches, preservatives. You name it, all these chemicals are hard for the human body to breakdown and digest. Not trying to sound like a complete health freak, but think about it, everything and I mean everything is mass produced to try and keep costs down. How that actually works is beyond me as I'm not an economics major or business major, but I do have common sense to know that society is becoming sicker with odd ailments, cardiovascular diseases, obesity and diabetes. Why is society getting worse than it was in previous generations where most of this was unheard of?
Definitely! Make some awesome scrambled egg burritos to go with your coffee or a quick and yummy quesadilla for lunch... Homemade is better than prepackaged any day of the week!
Was looking if I still had some store bought tortillas 😅 thank God that I did not had any. And then I found your video, simpel, quick and easy to make. I've replaced the butter with Ghee because mine is finished, my kids loved it without complaning everything is in our stomach🥰❤️✨
My mom was telling me yesterday that she doesn't like store tortillas because they have a lot of weird ingredients, and how that's sad cause she loves fajitas. Natasha read her mind😂

My Mexican Mom always had tortillas made every morning before we got up. When we were kids, my mom would leave the tortilla on the skillet longer and toast it till it was stiff. Then she would spread butter on it and we ate it like a crunchy treat. It tastes so good when it's toasted.
I love to make my delicious tortillas at home, and my whole family loves it every time they come to visit. I have to prepare baleadas for them.

YES!! I was gifted a tortilla press & I'm gonna use this recipe to break it in! I love the cinnamon tortillas too, my Mexican friends refer to them as buñuelos 🤤

I just made these and may I say Oh My Gosh! These are absolutely the best I ever tasted! They completely changed the way I make taco's burritos and any dish that requires tortillas! So buttery and soft! Easy to follow recipe and these are also good to eat just as they are with nothing on them. Thank you! Thank you! So Amazing!
Fantastic! Thanks for sharing that with us. ❤️
Always using yogurt for tortilla dough it is soft also
I will try with butter next time thank you for sharing your experience
After reading the back of my tortilla packet,I decided to make some of my own without all those nasty chemicals. These tortillas came out great! All your recipes are pretty good and this one is no different. Thank you!
That’s awesome! Thanks so much for sharing that with us. ❤️
I've just bought some store ones today, but I have all the ingredient's already at home, I'll try this and get the kids involved, the tiny hands made laugh!! Great video
Natasha looks so good my mom taught me and my sister at the age of 5 yrs to make tortillas
What I love is when tortillas are hot.
I get the last one melt lil but if butter and fresh green chili and put it on hot tortilla omg it’s so delicious.
Have a safe blessed day you and your family 🙏🏼💝🌹☺️

Thank you so much.
I made these tonight. They turned out perfectly! Not perfectly round, mind you. I will have to work on my technique, but the flavour and texture...just perfect. I can't wait for Mexican night in the kitchen. Thank you so so much, Natasha. God bless.
just made these and i absolutely love them. I have tried a few recipes but by far these are the best because of the butter :) thank you
10/10 🥰
My favorite way to eat them is with breakfast, our breakfast is savory, scrambled eggs with potato, onion + tomato + chili, bacon or chorizo. Refried beans on the side and tortillas of course. You did such an amazing job! 🥰💜
Thank you! Trying this today, my Mom made these big tortillas ( one for each) fresh every morning

Dear Natasha,

Never made tortillas, Will give it a try .Thank you for sharing 🌹
We do flat bread Lokše we mash potatoes or sweet potatoes, flour and psyllium instead of baking powder, psyllium absorb moisture and keep it soft and yumííí.
Brush them with duck fat or melted butter.
Traditionally we eat them with roasted Duck, Goose or filled with Duck Liver or Liver pate and roll + sauerkraut as a side dish.
Sweet way :
Spread Plum Jam on and top up with grind Poppy seeds mixed with little hot milk and roll.
Spread Jam or Honey on and top up with grind Walnuts then roll.
Jam and Sour cream
Sounds amazing
I’ve been making flour tortillas for several years with a recipe I thought was good…then tonight I made yours. Oh my what a difference. The guys were impressed. I also made the chicken fajitas, and they were delicious too.
I'm so glad to hear that!

So glad to hear that! Thanks for trying my recipes.
Thank you for the video. I finally found the courage to make them and they came out amazing. The only draw back is controlling the urge to make them often.
You have the best cooking/baking videos ever!! AND soooo delicious!!
Thanks so much 😊
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Your videos are awesome. I love you already. I’ve been a chef for 25 years or like 35 years but your videos are fantastic. I love it. I’m gonna make your tortillas in a minute. We’ll see how they turn out. They’re gonna be awesome.
Thank you for the love ❤️
Great, simple video. Tasty too.
Off subject: I always have a good thought for your family and friends in the old country. I hope they are safe and sound.
I’m a fan I appreciate you making this as a reminder of the process of making tortillas. I grew up always making them and we would make them to last for days and mind you I come from a big family. Unfortunately as I grew up and then married my husband had children I became lazy and would purchase the already made processed version since it was easier and honestly I kind of forgot to make them. Your simple 8-10 version has set me on the right path to remembering it. Gracias Natasha
Flour tortillas are homemade is better than the store-bought!
Agreed!
👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you so much for recipe !!!!
I have tried 5 different tortilla recipes and yours is the best by far!! Thank you so much for sharing your recipe 💖
Aaaw thank you ❤️

My mom was telling me yesterday that she doesn't like store tortillas because they have a lot of weird ingredients, and how that's sad cause she loves fajitas. Natasha read her mind😂

I found this tutorial a few weeks ago and just now had the time to give this a try. My tortillas are not perfectly round, like yours, but they taste fabulous.
Thank you for sharing your skills with all of us. Perfect instruction with fantastic comic relief. 😊
Wonderful! No worries, practice makes perfect!
I’ve been wanting to make these. I believe I heard you say that you don’t have to store in the refrigerator? I don’t like store bought ones much, but these look scrumptious!
The best and easy flour tortillas you can found, thanks Natasha
You are so welcome!
I made these and they didnt last in the baggie!! my family devoured them! they were soooo good. Your're right the butter does make it waaay better!!!
I’m glad it was a hit!
My Mexican Mom always had tortillas made every morning before we got up. When we were kids, my mom would leave the tortilla on the skillet longer and toast it till it was stiff. Then she would spread butter on it and we ate it like a crunchy treat. It tastes so good when it's toasted.
What a greag memory to keeo. Food indeed brings family together. ❤️
I love to make my delicious tortillas at home, and my whole family loves it every time they come to visit. I have to prepare baleadas for them.
I grew up eating tortillas, my mother made a HUGE pile everyday but I never really made them myself. I will try today!!! we always have the first one with a cup of hot chocolate or a glass of milk. The rest are for burritos, of course!
