My owner asked I started watching videos on burner maintenance and such,he takes me out when I'm not busy on deliverys... your videos are the best yet brother....
I'm here because I'm looking into swapping the oil burning Beckett for either a CG4 or this Carlin EZGas. My boiler isn't in the Beckett list and I just learned about this Carlin. I read the Carlin is more adjustable and will fit "practically anything". I can't find anything on the type of tube in the boiler and I'm not taking it apart to figure it out. Any experienced folks with their recommendations or questions would be helpful. I may not know all the answers but I'm willing to learn what it takes to know either how to do this conversion myself or where to get the necessary parts to make it work and have a professional install it after getting what I need.
We see very little oil equipment here in MN. Oil must have been cheap on the east coast in the past. Propane prices are very volatile, so everyone who can connects to natural. Actually, not much hydronic either, mostly in old houses.
Your daughter is lucky your her dad. She gets the best plumber in MA, at unbeatable prices. Lol. My family thinks R22 is free every cooling season. Maybe for them, not for me!
I hate working for wife's family they think you should do it for labor free and won't buy the parts it's needs because it to expensive or don't have money but can buy new car and go on trips so learned don't work for them
CAN I RUN 3 SEPARATE OIL FEED LINES OFF THE SAME TANK? I WAS THINKING I COULD MAKE A MANIFOLD FOR 3 LINES THAT CONNECTS CLOSE TO THE TANK, EACH WITH A CHECK VALVE BEFORE THE LINES. THEN RUN THREE SEPARATE FEED LINES. 2 BOILERS AND ONE HOT AIR FURNACE?
Are you in the business? Does anyone around still have oil tanks and setups? My family all had them years ago but I grew up only around natural gas. Probably far more expensive than natural gas, especially here.
@@VinylToVideo Basement oil tanks and burners all over the Mid Atlantic and New England. Gas lines don't go everywhere. About two streets over there's gas, but everybody in my development has oil and mostly hot water heat.
@@reecenewton3097 The cost to have a gas line put in would almost pay for itself, especially if the neighbors chipped in. I was asking for my area though. My family had them in the 50s and 60s around here but I've never even seen one in my life. Others had coal and wood furnaces years ago. It's not unheard of for oil to cost $3000-4000 a year nowadays to heat a house which is insane. I also heard it can coat the walls and furniture with a residue and stinks.
@@VinylToVideo Don't confuse oil burning boilers and furnaces with kerosene space heaters. A typical oil boiler is in the basement and connected to a chimney. Hot water circulates through radiators, usually baseboard radiators these days, throughout the house. None of the fumes or smell gets into the house. The cost of heating varies with the climate and size of the house. I am in central Pennsylvania, it gets plenty cold here, and have a two-story four-bedroom house with finished basement, all heated spaces. I pay about $1200 a year for oil which I don't think is too bad. The oil also supplies my domestic hot water by a coil in the boiler.
Do you like the Carline product I just had mine go today I need Electrode broke and nobody has it in Albany New York and I see that it’s made in Massachusetts so now I have no heat do you live nearby the Carline company
My Grandma has a Carlin ez1 gas burner. but the furnace water was leaking the furnace went except for the burner so the burner is there she just has a Bosch furnace [Wall like]. I really want to have that burner. it's in her basement and and it's not being used.
Do more coffee chats steve miss them pal less work bcos we see the same shit everyday anyhow so more of the chats would be much more entertaining and are much more chilled just a thought dont get upset
Oh sure you guys will do this for your daughter, but when I asked about this kind of conversion it was all oh no can't be done, you need to replace the boiler, line the chimney, and it will cost you $11,000....
The original installer had 5 wire on the truck and got the job done. Also it's insurance if somebody puts in a different system, or wants A/C and heat on the same T-stat. Also insurance if one of the wires goes open. The latter happened to me! Had an open wire in a new factory length of cable.
RUclips puts those commercials where the most views are being recorded. Steve has nothing to do with how many? All he done was get monetized. There is a lot of work in doing the video's.

Great job Steve, I’m an hvac technician I’ve learned so much from you thank you for sharing your knowledge Gustavo “The Crab “
That freestanding burner footage at the end was “wicked “🔥💥
The knowledge this man has is amazing!
Nice job. In my state you can't use the bx cable for a ground. It must have a separate ground wire. Thanks for the video.
Waterman one type MC with ground
Hey Steve,,,good job taking care of your daughter. You da man !👍
I've done a lot of that cutting/threading in my electrical work career (past) thanks for the memories!
You are the man brother! Excellent, excellent job! I learn a lot from your videos.
Steve, you're a good guy.
That's badass the way you "prefab ed" a burner conversion...
Good job dad. 👍🏻
I used to help my dad cut threads on galvanized pipe back in the 60’s when I was a kid. He cut and I oiled. Still have the dies etc.
Those are some of my favorite memories growing up. "helping" my dad . Now he calls me for help and I happily return the favor.
Love that ending, with a BANG!!!! 👍 👌 👏, LOVE it just love, " HOUSTON WE HAVE IGNITION!!!!!! 👍

Cool Steve; you can use that burner and those tanks for another customer. You can make a few extra dollars and save the customer money also
Great video. Cool Tools and Machine you have there.

30lbs here and I can top my own system ! lol

Great job like all ways Steven
That's a nice looking Saturn SC2 in the driveway.
Riello makes a nice gas burner also.
Judging by the length of time that well pump was running, they must have an older-style pressure (galvanized) tank, yes?
Nice job for your kid. I have 2 cartons nice burners
how old was that beckett burner you pulled out? it looked clean enough to eat off of
Pardon my ignorance... Does the Carlin conversion have a modulating feature?
Never land stranded wire under a terminal. Crimp spade connector should be used. Low voltage or high it shouldn't be done🙏✌
Nice conversion. I have a Utica tri fire oil boiler. Would one of these gas conversion burners work to switch my boiler over to natural gas?
It'd be more cost efficient to just get a high efficiency gas boiler. The oil converted ones don't run efficient at all
When the state of maine made me fig up my oil tank i got one of these. I save more than 2000 dollars a winter
Dig up?
@@chrisE815 yes you can no longer have an oil tank underground
@@frank-vy9xe You saved money by switching to propane or something else?
@@chrisE815 absolutely not. Natural gas. Not propane.
Is it necessary to clean out the chimney when doing this conversion?
I’m wondering the same thing.
What kind of shut off is that on the oil bleeder?
Lol at 1:20: "This fuc-... This bloody clown". Don't want Molly to hear that language
Awesome mascot,
You can still use street elbows there ?
Where i am in Vancouver BC Canada , we can't use street elbows to code
JiveTurkey0001 it may have to do with earthquake issue ,they could crack

does the hydrostat need a new well installed in the boiler for LWCO function?
dennis page yes, you have to use hydrostat’s electrowell for the low water cutoff to be active.

Why not just buy the oil or discount the job and take it. Would save you and them some time. Just a thought.
Steve don't do nothing special for that neighborhood it ain't no Taj Mahal. Peace brother and Molly
I thought this was in the house. Then it turned into a science project at the end of video....
The end of the video is a clip from one of his Beckett training videos he did a few years back.
Erik J. I loved those videos.
