Diego, I love the way you always clean up after yourself! My old dad always said a good work man always clears up! My grandson recently got an award for " his resilience in working" I guess you get the same! Lots of love from Wolverhampton!
Hi Diego, Diogo here. Wonderfull video as usual. I hope one day some company would sponsorship you with a log splitter. You deserve it. And gonna save you a lot of energy or to gather more wood or to keep pushing the repairs on the cabin and who knows build another wood shed or extend the existing one 💪
Hello Diego !! What does one do on an early Sunday morning ?? You make some coffee, meditate and bit, then watch Diego chop wood !! A good start to the day. Say hello to the Lovely Julia for us. You are not far from Mount Rainier !! A beautiful mountain to hike in the summer time. Stay warm and dry out there.
Try the fiskars 36" splitting axe, I use a log splitter mostly but the big rounds that won't fit i splitting in half with the axe and it blows through huge rounds with no problem, it's lighter and does better than my splitting maul.
Smart man notching and rolling the rounds, can't tell you how many times i have seen experienced people run there chain saw blades into the ground. All it takes is one touch to dull the blade.
Firewood is firewood. Warms us a few times from start to finish. 😉 I’m sure glad the “blowdowns” are a good mix of oak and maple, birch, here. At the least it heats a bit longer in the stove. Keep up the good work. $300 a cord is not unheard of here.
I split all our wood by hand like you. I have incorporated a fiskars spliting ax along with the maul. I believe, speed and velocity is almost as powerful as the mass of the maul, with less physical work. That splitting ax is really a game changer, after you get the rounds halfed.
I ended up making a ramp to roll 30 plus inch wide rounds into the back. Plus, I had a headache rack. I liked getting the wood fast and splitting at home in my spare time. Nice work. Free is free.
Love seeing your ‘mobile gym’ getting a workout in a productive way. If you left your milling attachment on, would you be able to get some long planks off of those logs?
Hope you like your rear window because if you keep piling that wood high in your truck it will eventually be going through it. Make a rack and just put it on when you are going to get wood . Done. Nice of you to look after your friend Al .
The older and wiser I’ve become I now just get 4 to 6 inch branches to cut up, end up with loads more done and ready to burn without the need to split anything, I’ve done the large rounds when younger and even with a hydraulic splitter it’s just not worth all the effort
When we harvest wood at camp my buddy uses sidewalk chalk and a piece of wood he has marked at various lengths for what he likes to cut. Keeps the chalk and wood with his saws. Works flawlessly. Simple and effective.
get an old bike innertube and wrap it around the halves, then split it. That way your not bending over 300 times to pickup what you've split. Just a suggestion ; )
3/4's of one of those rounds in white birch is enough to keep our home warm for the entire day, just wondering how much wood you use per day as using half your shed already just sounds excessive. Maybe difference in insulation of our houses? (scandinavian house) Or maybe oven efficiency?
If i was a millionaire i would have sawn those logs up for the fire, its just the way i am. All the best from England.ps, i would most likely buy a log splitter though.😊.
Hey Diego, please please grab that chainsaw correctly! Your left hand thumb needs to grab that handle from bottom, securely holding the saw. You have really powerful saw, nobody wants you to hurt yourself! @4:49
Make a Cut on the side on each block with the chainsaw so you're getting the tension out. you will see the the chopping goes easier. you can split them with one shot in half
Time is money. I understand you like to do the chopping for exercise but it would be worth it to have a log splitter with a hydraulic lift for the volume of wood you chop when your short on time.
I really wish you would invest in a trailer with a winch. Better for you and your truck. Winching large pieces on to the trailer and taking them home would make life easier and you could choose to make lumber instead of firewood
Suggestion! Take those rounds that you brought home, let one sit for a week, 2 weeks and 3 weeks. Then determine if the effort to cut them into firewood size is easy, easier and easiest! I think that after 4 weeks, the logs will fall apart much less effort compared to when they are wet with sap. Just a thought. Another thing. You mentioned that cutting the logs into 16" rounds, it is more difficult to break into firewood than when cut to 14" or 12". So with a 12 foot long log, (144 inches) you will get 12 of the 12" long rounds, or 10 of the 14" rounds, or 9 of the 16" rounds. So is it more difficult to break up 12 of the shorter logs, 10 of the 14" or only 9 of the longest ones?
Many people who cut a lot of firewood have been told to rotate the bar, so it is sometimes right side up, sometimes upside down. When you own a pickup, the trailer is just another vehicle to find a parking spot for it. Many times they also have 2-3 sharpened chain saw blades too.

Wood gathering, my favorite ❤
Always such an entertaining and inspirational watch, Diego. You are a fine chap and a good example of considerate living! 🇬🇧👋👋🇺🇸

Great job with the firewood!! A lot of warm days at the cabin!!

"Rest and recovery" - You've definitely earned it.

You live in such a beautiful place God bless looking forward to watching your videos
Also love the big saw😂
What a good workout! Keep up the hard work brother.

hello diego, have you ever thought about getting a trailer? mabye one where u could use a ramp, that way you just roll your loggs on.
Good job, keep after the free wood.
I split all our wood by hand like you. I have incorporated a fiskars spliting ax along with the maul. I believe, speed and velocity is almost as powerful as the mass of the maul, with less physical work. That splitting ax is really a game changer, after you get the rounds halfed.

Watching your Chanel from JORDAN Middle East.
Best wishes for you.
Have a great time with the Lovely Julia mate
Great job! Buddy
Never been here so early!
Love seeing your ‘mobile gym’ getting a workout in a productive way. If you left your milling attachment on, would you be able to get some long planks off of those logs?
Would be cool if you could get involved in the foresty service for clearing the logs off the road or something 😄

Best RUclips Chanel❤
On the road again, finally! I couldn't wait. My favorite!

You can never have too much “ free”😅 firewood, and ur correct wood stoves are hungry and needs to be fed ALL the time.

Almost forgot try the stihl file that does both tooth and rake at the same time
Works great

Single axel dump trailer would be nice for your setup!
Man how small the beds are on the pickups today. I had a Isuzu from -87 and that thing had 1 metric ton load capacity and like 75 hp 😃
If i was a millionaire i would have sawn those logs up for the fire, its just the way i am. All the best from England.ps, i would most likely buy a log splitter though.😊.

Nail an old tire to that chopping block, that way you can split the quarters inside that tire and don’t have to pick up the pieces all the time
That would be a big tire. Lol.
A lot to organized for me , but your way is better. I'll try harder! lol
Can't imagine splitting that much by hand.
I think that if I were you, I would find some way to invest in a log splitter
Make a Cut on the side on each block with the chainsaw so you're getting the tension out. you will see the the chopping goes easier. you can split them with one shot in half
Said also you need 50 of those woodshed full. Which would take you 2 whole years to fiil and that should last you a lifetime. 😂Of wood.
Bet that truck says what the heck i thought we were going to the beach..
I hear Pantera 1:20 so I upvote
It’s a great job, but you should have a handcart. It’ll be easier.
hello from Wisconsin how much wood do you burn in an average year
Time is money. I understand you like to do the chopping for exercise but it would be worth it to have a log splitter with a hydraulic lift for the volume of wood you chop when your short on time.
Смотрю из России такие залипательные видео с дровами но гидравлический колун бы не помешал спина скажет спасибо
Did say you need a log splitter on a trailer. Have. You got one yet
Or Home Depot has when you buy wood it’s called I think a pushcart it would be easier for your back.
I hope you left your fireplace set to light in case you return to a snowy paradise.

👌
Can’t believe I’m sitting here watching a man cut and split wood. Don’t I have something better to do. Lol
Not to say his videos are boring but the sound of chopping and chainsaws help me sleep like white noise.
I think I would hitch up a log splitter to the truck and split it the easy way.
I think that log splitters are in the $1,200 range. Maybe not in the budget?
Ever think of a bigger truck?
i think alltime you overload you truck yes he is powerfull but wood is really heavy the volume vs weight are underestimated
looks like you need a trailer
2nd
It's time for a trailer.....bro.
stump pieces and rounds with big knots make the best blocks.
Diego, since the comments seems to be full of unsolicited advice, let me just give you this advice... Take care of yourself, buddy!
All their RUclips University diplomas are hand written on toilet paper
You need a trailer.
A guy should get a trailer and put the bar on right side up.
Many people who cut a lot of firewood have been told to rotate the bar, so it is sometimes right side up, sometimes upside down. When you own a pickup, the trailer is just another vehicle to find a parking spot for it.
Many times they also have 2-3 sharpened chain saw blades too.
