Your humble nature and the good soul you have earned my subscription to your channel. Helping your neighbor, AL was out of this world. God bless you in every step of this life. Job well done.
The only bloggers I see still splitting wood with an axe are Diego and his friend Al. And Shawn from Self Reliant. I’m sure it exhausting and they are sore after. Great job Diego. You are much to nice to give Al a truckload of firewood.
I think this is one of your best videos yet! I especially like the ending! You tell them ,it’s your life and you do things your way. They might be wrong to other people but at least you’re out there getting things done! And huge thanks for helping neighbour Al. He is one of the few real men left! The genuine article!
As a young person growing up, I used to love splitting Doug Fir. My dad would sometimes bring cut off rounds from the mill where he worked. Fun and easy splitting. Miss those days.
Diego, you are such a hard worker, splitting those trees.I was soooooo glad and happy to see you taking those blocks to neighbour and friend Al.I know he would have been so thankful and grateful for them.Especially with him not been in his usual self.I love watching your videos.Happy New Year to you and the lovely Julia.May you stay in good health this year to chop your wood and make more video’s.🥰👍
Great video....I'm 54 years old & now disabled but grew up splitting wood & had competition against my dad....what awesome memories anyway this was before we as people forgot how to work & be safe without all of these "safety" devices 😂 continue to be yourself & yes don't stop moving the best you can take care
Greetings from North Carolina. So generous of you to help elderly friend Al. There are not so many like you in the world today. Happy New Year and may you be blessed with health, happiness and peace in your life. Stay safe.
I freehand cut those big ones into lumber and use the offcuts for firewood. I noticed your bar is steaming, you might want to turn up your oiler. On 36” bar I go one for one tanks of bar oil to gas. My bar never gets more than warm to the touch. Make yourself a thin splitting wedge for that big stuff. A shaft hammered out works good, I have some I made from torsion bars from trailer hitch.
It was a really good attempt to make everything you were doing as safe as possible. The tag system is bureaucratic but I suppose with such a precious resource as your forestry there, it is good to keep users/beneficiaries appropriately regulated and scare away the bozos. Your hand splitting is a choice of course and I admire and respect your tenacity and your fitness - amazing! Above all, I admire, respect and applaud your selflessness with neighbour Al. What you do is kind, generous, admirable and exemplary. Keep going as you 'try hard.'
@@bryanhugh8905 I didn't say 'removing' and it was certainly not a pejorative remark. Nevertheless, the fallen trees are a precious resource (as neighbour Al will no doubt appreciate) but it is a community service - but not just that.
Bless you Diego. Your a good man looking out for Al. Says a lot about you. Best thing to fonis ignore the negative comments. Some people have nothing better to do. Those of us who live in reality know how things work. Take care. Dave
Hey brother, nice firewood! A couple tips splitting and hauling that big diameter wood. After you bust one in half chop the bark ring( 4-6”) off first and it will plot much easier. Also I found hauling bigger chunks home and splitting to fireplace size at home saves time and can haul much more wood. Peace out !
I was so happy to see that that truck bed of wood was going to Al, it was really a surprise! You're so kind Diego, and a inspiration for all of us. Get well Al with your problems with the ear, i know for my self that it can cause dizziness and lack of balance, though the problem for me was earwax.
That was a great thing you did for Al. Good looking out, as the kids say. The older I get, the more clear it becomes, I am barely in charge of my own life, and it is not needed or appreciated to give advice (unless it is asked for).
Thank you Diego for sharing your experiences. I love your beautiful heart, you are the example of what a friend can be. Thank you also for your support of Al and his life. Al and I are very happy to have you in our lives.
What a nice find Diego, score some fire wood and help your fellow neighbor's , Douglas fir is a nice wood to burn for sure. awesome work on splitting those huge pieces that was a great deal of work but no doubt it will be well worth it. Awww you have such a kind heart helping Al by giving him a truck load of firewood he will appreciate that what an awesome friend I believe you made his day . nice video..
Great job, Diego. Keep up the amazing work. Thanks for keeping the roads safe. Love your videos. Sending Al healing and love. Get better; you're amazing. Have the greatest day ever, love and peace.
All that hard work… for you to share and help Al. Your momma will be proud of you for your kindness. Inspiring! Happy new year to you from Bristol in the UK 🇬🇧👋👋🇺🇸
That was so good of you to collect all that firewood and give it to Al. Happy new year to you and Al and may God bless you with many more years with Al.
Haters gonna hate, ignore them. You are doing great! Keep at it. Great video. Hope you get the remaining wood from that tree. It's great that you help out Al like you do!
Good video! Nice to see Al again. I hope his hearing improves. I just knew you were going to share wood with him! Stay safe and thanks for the content.
Diego, Happy New Year to you.🎉 You are an inspiration. Good to see Al up and about, thanks for taking care of him, he's a good soul, as are you. Best from Canada 🦫
I would reccomend a MS 362 with a 24 inch bar ,Good for smaller log and swamping working and is less fatiquing starting off. Two saws are best when cutting wood,if one gets stuck or goes down your not wasting a trip or leaving saw stuck in a log . Your getting the firewood bug for sure. Glad your enjoying being out in the woods :) You need a gas splitter at home ,take and split the easier stuff then take the rest home. I look out for the left overs like what you left because the work is half done, grab the saw and rip the knot and then split lol Were is your wedge is what Neighbor Al would be saying.
Diego it was so nice to see you helping Al out with the firewood I know he appreciate it. Now my advice about following the rules you keep doing you. I will use my hydraulic splitter just because I can't split the Oak firewood but that's me. I do a lot of the same stuff you do when it comes to running a chainsaw keep up the hard work and remember always be yourself.
All Oak, like White, and Burr, and Pin is the easiest splitting wood, except sometimes Red Oak can be difficult as there's a lot of crooked limbs. Just scope them out with your eyeballs, and you'll find plenty of 16" sections to cut. Get a FISKARS Splitting Axe 🪓 and you will impress yourself.
You are an amazing young man and I hope there are more like you coming into the forefront of the world now. Your generation is the one that will save North America! The Lovely Julia is a fortunate lady indeed!😊❤
I totally get you want to do it your way, but man you need a log splitter. When I was younger I did some splitting by hand, and yes it is a good workout, but a splitter is so much more efficient and you can get so much more done. Nice to see there are still kind people in the world and you are helping out your friend who would never ask for help. I laughed at myself a bit today asking myself why am I watching some random dude on youtube cut firewood, then the end came and am glad I watched it. It is a selfless act you did there, nice to see there are still people like this in the world.
You are a good person, Diego, and I was pretty sure you would share some of your wood haul with Al. I hope he's doing better soon. I love your oral history project with him. Last thing, I saw the name "Gifford Pinchot" on the forest sign, and I recognized it from my days spent poring over old PA newspapers while doing genealogy research. He's no relation to me, but he was governor of PA and apparently good friends with Teddy Roosevelt. And, I just learned this part today, he was the first head of the US Forest Service. Even at my age I'm still packing my head with (allegedly) "Useless Bits Of Information." You are a good guy, Diego, and you make great videos. Keep up the good work, and take care!
Press on with pride Diego. You are completely correct. Just get it done and I willing to bet most of those safety police have never split a cord of wood. It is hard work that will leave you aching for days.
Good tip on splitting log in half, guy I knew built oars for drift boats w/old growth fir. He was ww2 vet & retired from forest service as a Carpenter, he got some good old growth from Forest Service for his Oars.
love watching all your video's espescially when you and Al are doing things together.......i'm not one to comment much but what if you use either a short or long handled maul with your wedge ax......save you alot of bull work!!! Pease keep the videos coming.....happy holidays to You, Julia and Al from Nova Scotia, Canada....Donald
Great video that was some tree. and as for the rules stuff, they are more geared for people that sit on keyboards and become what I call armchair experts, now splitting that size wood by hand has no rules you do what you need to do simple as that. great job nicely done and thank you for helping Al. at 84 he has earned a rest.
You just keep being you Diego, that’s why I watch your videos. Great work on the firewood, great job helping your neighbors and community. I think you’re doing a fantastic job. 😊
As a wheelchair warrior I sit and look for easy ways to tackle very hard jobs. My mobility is very limited and only able to walk about 30 minutes throughout the 24 hours, bed to bathroom, to breakfast, someone showers and wheels me back to bed.my walking is limited to spells of a few exhausting minutes to R&R & thats my day I thought a trailer with a winch you could pull the logs onto the trailer instead of sawing into 16 inch wood and using the axe and rhen loading the pickup. Measure the length of trailer to the nearest 16 inches, and haul logs onto the trailer. Several loads in the day and the following day rinse and repeat. You then have as many logs ready for splitting at your own pace, no racing the sun, stop for coffee, phone the lovely one and take a break as and when. Or bring the trailer back and saw 16 inches on the trailer, the rounds just drop to the ground near the storage area where you stack them for drying to use next year. Its all about how many time something is handled. From the roadside to the drying/storage shed you handle the firewood too many times, and some of the trees you saw are too heavy for one man to lift and you might injure yourself. Loading cut increment lengths with winch, sawing 16 inches from trailer, swinging the axe, stacking in shed all within a short distance between trailer and wood storage. If you have too much wood there are metal totes that people use, use cut sheets of woods to keep the rain off, hide the totes out of site behind the amazing wood shed you built last summer.
Good to see all the safety precautions! You've come a long way from just free ballin it on the side of the road with just prayers and good intentions. 😊
Sometimes with the big pondo type stuff trying to scab off a piece like you did at 12:39 is the way to get them started. Also, if you go 14" rather than 16" they may put up less fight. I sometimes have to cut the round in half or even quarters to get it to something that's manageable for splitting wet. If you had time you could let them dry and split later. Sometimes I'll split to 1/4s or 1/6ths so I can move and haul, and do the final split later. Great stuff, keep up the good work. Nothing is as warm as "junk" wood you got for free that warms you two, three, maybe five times. (cut, initial split, stack, split, use).
Epic as ever. The wood chopping editing was great. I don’t even know why I am watching these videos! I live in the UK and am never going to be in a situation where I am chopping a tree like this for firewood. And yet here I am. Loving your videos.
Hey, thanks for another great video! Good call about that tree hanging across the road , if you are not sure about dealing with something like that it's better to leave as it is. I think this is one of my favorite videos by far because you’re using a 36 inch bar on that chainsaw and I would love to use one one day and cut some thing that big but I love seeing your videos with the combination of chainsaw, axes, and stacking your wood up I Find it exciting to watch these videos
I LOVE watching you split and stack wood🎉🎉 I don't know why, but I do🎉🎉🎉🎉 Take care Diego & Al❤❤❤❤😊
Neighbor Al. Sorry to hear he isn’t up to the speed he was. What an awesome person. Please tell him we appreciate him and will keep him in prayer.
I would really appreciate a good look at Al's home. It looks marvelous.
Love this guy. People like this make the world a better place. Keep on keepin’ on, Diego! Cheers from Canada
Just do what you do Diego. Taking everything into account is impossible. Nice to see you helping the neighbors. What you sow you get back.
This is how we do it in the free world, best quote ever

35 years as a woodworker makes me lust after boards from that log...Doug Fir is just beautiful...but 70yrs on the planet makes me appreciate the heat
Thank you, Diego for helping Al and Dipstick to stay warm!💕 You are an angel!
Thank you for giving that wood to the Gentle man. You are so kind.
My favorite videos that you do are with you and Al collecting firewood!
You're a good man, Diego. it's so nice that you help Al. He sounds like he needs to go to the doctor about his ear. God bless you
I did - ambulance to the ER & 3 days in hospital
There are blessings already coming to Diego for looking after Al 🙏🏾

Very little ash to clean out also.

Yes he does
Hello Diego! I love your channel and I like it even more when you cut wood to use, thus cleaning the roads. Congratulations!!!😉
Wow! Look at saw! You've come a long way in that department. Happy cutting!!!
The best way to help the neighbor Al to fix his roof for him. Even the government don't even go through all that to cut the trees up
In his other video with Al, Al wants to fix it in the spring and Diego has already said he will help him

I ❤ your joy when that tough piece finally split!
Well done Diego. Merry Christmas and happy new year.
Great video as always
You’re generosity will always come back many times.
Nice looking firewood! Good find!
You're a stud. It's amazing what you do.

Another high-quality video
Maybe get it home to do the final splitting that way you can maximize your firewood and not tire yourself out splitting before you are done collecting the wood . Just get it into moveable noodle sized pieces and get it out of there. Maybe get yourself a ramp and some kind of portable winch .
I'm sad Al as vertigo. I hope he gets better.
No worry - it's getting better
Diego keep doing things your way you know your body!!you have your permits you wear your safety gear and you usually clean up after yourself so I think you're doing wonderful God bless and happy New Years!!!
I think this is one of my favorite videos by far because you’re using a 36 inch bar on that chainsaw and I would love to use one one day and cut some thing that big but I love seeing your videos with the combination of chainsaw, axes, and stacking your wood up I Find it exciting to watch these videos
