How does the somewhat recently released RTX 4070 accomplish the task of drawing triangles on your screen? Well, it's actually a rather beefy card that's clocked insanely fast, but there's a lot more to it than just clocks and a whole lotta transistors...
    Test System Specs:
    - Intel Core i5-13600k (5.5GHz-P, 4.0GHz-E)
    - Corsair H150i 360mm AIO
    - Gigabyte Z690 Aorus Elite AX DDR4
    - 64GB 3600MT/s G.Skill DDR4
    - Gigabyte Windforce OC RTX 4070
    - WDB SN770 1TB PCIe 4.0 for games
    - Samsung 970 Evo 1TB PCIe 3.0 for OS/Boot

    - Resizable BAR was Turned ON for testing
A GPU is a separate bank of ALUs and FPUs, designed to offload heavily parallelizable calculations from the main CPU onto a dedicated chip. The Graphics Card refers to the entire sub-system, containing the PCB, Memory, and Cooling solution.
Building a Budget PC can be tough. Not only are GPUs and CPUs so incredibly expensive, but they can be hard to find on a budget... But, there are tips and tricks to finding you your dream Budget GPU, and pairing it with a CPU that will give you the performance you want!

So the reason the 4070 has 12GB is because of the 192 bit bus. Each GDDR6X memory controller is 32 bits wide, and can handle either 1GB, 2GB, or 4GB modules- this means you either can get 6GB, 12GB, or 24GB with GDDR6/X. GDDR7 is set to release 24Gb modules (3GB), so we may be able to see more exotic configs in the future!

the 4070 is fine preformance wise but the fact that it preforms essentially the same as a 3080 for only $50 less almost three years after the 3080 came out makes it a non starter for me. i will always be recommending a used 3080 or 3090 considering the 3080 is 200$ less than the 4070 and 3090 is about the same price but with SIGNIFICANTLY better performance in both gaming and productivity all of the 40 series is incredibly overpriced with the exception of the 4090 and it only gets a pass because no other gpu can even get close to its preformance

yeah I bought one and sent it back for a 4090. I didn't need 4090 performance, but the 4090 is for some ridiculous reason the best perf/dollar. I guess nvidia got me

Obviously buying a used card is cheaper than a new one, what kind of argument is this lol that’s like saying the 3080 is a bad product because the used cards are cheaper than new. The 4070 has 3080 performance for much less power consumption and DLSS 3 if you care about that, it’s a no brainer to buy it over the similarly priced new 3080. If you prefer to save money and take on the used risk that’s of course reasonable but not for everybody.
