Some reviewers said for an 8GB card you should not pay more than $300. Just 12GB for a lofty $599. One UK retailer of the 17 cards listed, 11 are over £600, highest £689.

How dictates the prices? The buyer or the seller? If the buyer don’t buy what the seller would do? You guessed it. Drop the prices. If buyer buys seller will keep or raise prices. Who’s the responsibility to buy as low as possible? Seeker or buyer? Who’s the duty to sell as high as possible? Seller or buyer? It’s very simple. But you like to bark to the wrong tree.

@@gametestinglab8861 The Probleme is if you dont buy you can not play XD. yeah i know its a dont need tech, but tech is make for short years. so you must buy as gamer and we can not controll the price, or we let fall the hobby. In real case you have 2 options, buy or fall.
OR Higher Produktions gives us lower prices too, but thats not happen.... they want the money. (special look to disks)
Another Probleme is krypto..... its not so ez to say we make the price
But yeah you are right if would nobody buy they can not make the prices ;)

12gb is 12gb, do you need more? No. The performance is there plus features an energy efficiency. You can argue with AMD all you want, they won't ever use their full 16gb and not used ram is wasted ram. So in that price class, performance wins over useless vram. The 5070 might have 16gb vram, but not this one. In the end it depends on how games will develop and if more than 12 GB of vram is needed for 1440p gaming, which this card is intended for.

This card does fine in most titles at 4K too, especially with DLSS. But there are edge cases where it doesn't because 12 gigs is on the low end for 4K, so I would dispute that assertion of yours. AMD cards with 16 gigs might indeed be the superior option for 4K gaming, at least in some titles or where DLSS is not an option for one reason or another. @@neubiineubii2931
Nvidia _could_ have given the 4070 Super 16 gigs, but they'd already (idiotically) given the 4070 Ti (non-Super) 12 gigs as well, so then the 4070 Super would outcompete a way more expensive (again, idiotically so) product of theirs. I'm not sure if it was brilliant marketing by Nvidia, or them shooting themselves in the foot. Probably a bit of both.

Great video as always, thank you for everything you do.
As a bit of feedback: While I agree with your point about card selection at 4:06, I think it would have been nice to include the 4070 Ti in the performance charts.
Because the 4070 Super is supposed to be "between" the 4070 and 4070 Ti, it would be nice to see where exactly this new card sits between its two "older brothers".
    Edited: forgot about the Ti...

    • @chrys9256
      @chrys9256 5 месяцев назад +2

No, the 4070 Super is supposed to be betwen the 4070 and 4070 Ti, not the 4080. There's also the upcoming 4070 Ti Super, so there's technically two GPUs between the 4070 Super and 4080.

The 4070 didn't go down in price. Besides the 4070 FE; AIB equivalents were selling for $550 for MONTHS before the 4070 super drop in the US. Which is why I told people who were debating on waiting for this release 'if you're fine with the performance and price of the 4070, you might as well get it if you're not willing to dish out $50 more because the price likely won't go down past that' . Who knew I'd be correct *Nvidia* didn't lower prices 🙄🤣
That being said; the 4070 super is WAYYY better a deal in comparison and would be my recommendation for anyone building a PC with a $600 budget for a GPU. I was just commenting on the fact i knew the prices weren't going down past what they already were.

The RTX 4070 Super should have been a 16 GB VRAM card. It has been shown that 12 GB are not enough in modern games, at 4K resolution and the graphical settings cranked up. And Heaven forbid if you install high-res texture packs and mods in your games (remember Skyrim?)
The RTX 4070 Ti also came with only 12 GB on a 192 bit bus. But guess what? Surprise, surprise, RTX 4070 Ti Super will launch to the stratosphere of January 24, 2024 loaded to the brim with 16 GB VRAM!
Marvellous stratification and planned obsolescence coming from the Leather Jacket. It gives you everything that you didn't knew you needed before, drop by expensive drop!

They couldn't "afford" to do that last year because it would have taken too much production time from making the high demand, high margin H100 chips ...... They basically shut down production of most of their consumer line chips back in June and just restarted production about a month ago ...... Time at TSMC is booked over a year in advance meaning their yearly allotted production time at TSMC was set before they realized how in demand the H100 would be so they had to "borrow" consumer production time and use it for their commercial lines and then priced their consumer lines so they would last for the second half of the year ...... The proof they got it right is they lost no market share in the consumer sphere in 2023 while dominating in the commercial sphere and their stock went from $110 on the day the 4090 released to over $500 less than a year later and currently sits at around $547
